KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING &/OR CRATING: yes for both! KNOWN LIKES: kisses, people, dogs KNOWN DISLIKES: None currently known. ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Meet Cocoa, a resilient and sweet 4-year-old pup with a heart full of love to give. Cocoa's journey hasn't been an easy one, she faced the threat of euthanasia at a high-kill shelter after testing positive for heartworms. But thanks to a compassionate volunteer who stepped in, she found a temporary foster home where she received the life-saving treatment she needed. Now heartworm negative, Cocoa is healthy, happy, and ready for a fresh start. She is housetrained, crate trained, and an all-around easy companion. Cocoa loves to give kisses and thrives on affection, making her a perfect addition to any loving home. Cocoa has been a wonderful addition since her arrival. She has not had any accidents indoors and adapts well to her crate. Although she may whine initially when placed inside, she typically calms down quickly. She sleeps soundly through the night in her crate but also appreciates resting at the foot of the bed. Her interactions with her foster’s children have been exceptional; she delights in running around with them and showering them with affection. Additionally, she enjoys playing in the yard with the resident dog, engaging in games of tug-of-war. When excited during playtime, she eagerly anticipates interaction with the other dogs. When the foster hosted other dogs for pet-sitting, Cocoa has been introduced to them successfully and has played amicably with several dogs simultaneously. However, she is not submissive; if another dog attempts to nip at her or behaves too roughly, she will assert herself. She responds well to corrections when I notice any rising tension between her and another dog. Cocoa is very gentle when accepting treats from her foster or the children. While she excels at the "sit" command, the foster is also focusing on teaching her other basic commands. She appears eager to learn, especially when treats are involved. Cocoa is an affectionate and cuddly dog who enjoys giving kisses. If you are searching for a loyal and affectionate companion with an inspiring story, Cocoa is ready to meet you and fill your life with unconditional love. Hello!! Are you finding yourself laughing or smiling at Dior's photos? I ask because those are the reactions we get ALL THE TIME when we are out in public! People LOVEEEEE this big fella & they relish over how beautiful he is. Or they get a laugh at his over-sized tongue! (no such thing as bad press right haha). What can I say about this big guy??? Hmmm, well he is majestic-looking, really handsome, and has a lot of swag! He is very mellow and doesn't bark. He loves to lounge around the house napping and playing with his toys, but his favorite has to be hiking. This big guy loves the outdoors! He walks well on the leash. Knows a few commands. Trained with e-collar. Dior is crate-trained and house-broken. He would love to be the only dog in the home. I took Dior in 2 years ago after a death in the family. I am now having to care for my 71YO mother and dogs are not allowed in the home. I am so desperate to find him a family that I am willing to pay a portion of training (if needed)

I love my Stretch, he’s such a loving snuggle buddy. He’s timid and so affectionate. He gets along so good with other dogs, women, and kids. It breaks my heart but I’ve done everything I could and I just can’t manage owning him with my schedule and finances. He’s a purebred and turns 2 on June 26, 2025. He’s fully in tact as well. He does great in an apartment or home with a yard.

Story
Please contact Courtney Nobles (courtneyn@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Sweet older gent seeking happily ever after! CARL NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Come meet Carl and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (04/27) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Silver Spring, MD (12020 Cherry Hill Road, Silver Spring, MD 20904)!   Name: Carl        Best Guess for Breed: Bulldog and hound mix  Best Guess for Age:  7 years as of October 2024      Gender: Male Approximate Weight:46 lbs Gets Along With: Carl does well with other dogs and cats! We haven't seen him with kids. We are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living At: DC area foster home. Carl is Looking For: His forever home. This sweetie ended up in a shelter through no fault of his own - and he's closed that chapter. He's eager to once again have his own humans for long sniffy walks and all the adventures they can dream up. Don't let that frosty face fool you - he's got plenty of zest!  A cushy dog bed, quality kibble, lots of snugs - yep, all on his wish list too. But as a wise, experienced dog, he knows what's most important in life: To be safe and loved and under his own roof. He's got so much to offer in exchange - adoring gazes and loyal companionship, definitely, but he also promises to make you smile every day. What do you say? Are you Carl's soft landing? Is he the one for your home and your heart? What My Foster Says About Me: Carl has the cutest, squishy face and has been adjusting to my house of dogs and cats! He really likes the cats the best, but they might not feel the same. Carl loves his dog bed and recently discovered the toy bin! How has this guy gone through his whole life without having his own toy - all dogs, especially older gents like Carl should have buckets and buckets of toys but he is hopeful he will have them in his new home :-)  He has done great with house breaking and crate training, loves to get pets, and hasn't met a stranger yet. If you're looking for a low-key, snuggle buddy, Carl is your boy!  Special Adoption Considerations: Carl is a truly Lucky Dog! He tested positive for Heartworm disease but has already been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites.  Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the screening process.Carl arrived into our care with a couple of tumors that have remained stable and slow growing. We consulted a specialist and are following their recommendation to monitor those areas for now. We will be happy to discuss this in greater detail with potential adopters. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.  Thank you for contacting Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and helping to save a life!
