Story
Meet Maxwell, a charming in need of rescue. His journey with us began when he was surrendered by his previous owner, through no fault of his own. Maxwell boasts a delightful history of coexisting harmoniously with both children and dogs of all sizes. However, we recommend a child-free environment due to his tendency to be a tad jumpy and nervous, especially when encountering new people. Maxwell's previous family described him as a big, goofy, and immensely playful companion. Additionally, he has proven himself to be well-trained in both housebreaking and crate use. He's capable of peacefully free-roaming when left alone, with no adverse incidents. Despite his endearing qualities, Maxwell is currently experiencing a degree of unease in the shelter environment, away from the only family he's ever known. New faces and the presence of other dogs passing by his kennel have understandably heightened his anxiety. Our dedicated behavior team has devised a plan to place him in a quieter section of the shelter, although it is apparent that the current setting is less than ideal for this sensitive fellow. During his stay with us, Maxwell has gradually opened up, revealing the same lovable, goofy personality that endeared him to his previous owners. Yet, he remains cautious when meeting new people. In our care, he has engaged in playgroups and demonstrated positive interactions with other dogs, though he tends to prefer calmer canine companions, as those with high energy levels can sometimes overwhelm him. This endearing pup is longing for a safe and loving environment where he can thrive. __________________________________________________ If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application and a representative will get back to you shortly to answer any questions you may have. Story
Introducing, Bumble! Bumble is single & ready to mingle. This girl meets new friends with a tail wag and asks for a face rub. She has a sweet demeanor and loves to be doted on. Sprung from a rural shelter where her main hope was to be pulled by a rescue, Bumble is one of the lucky ones to come our way. She has been vetted and is recovering from her spay in a foster home with both dogs and cats. She's dog friendly and learning that cats are friends. Currently also learning leash manners and the rules of being a house dog. She is crate trained and appears to be housebroken. So far, she hasn't had an accident in the home. During the day she enjoys splitting time between the back yard and hanging out in the office, either napping or chewing on a chew toy. Bumble is a great size for most families, she is 20 tall at the shoulder and weighs in at 54 lbs. She thinks car rides are a fun outing and once she has healed up from her spay, she'll make a great walking buddy. Is she cute? Yes. Does she have a big head to love on? Also yes. Will she help the kids solve their algebra homework? Sadly, no. If you are looking for a dog that will quickly make herself at home and a part of your family, apply at www.novapetsalive.org/adopt. Bumble is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, was given dewormer and monthly preventatives, and is microchipped.

To learn more about Nugget, please get in touch with his foster at xgenic@gmail.com Hello, I'm Nugget! I love to play! I'll fetch and chase with all my toys, but I'm very responsible in the house and won't touch anything I shouldn't. I sometimes growl like a dragon when I get really playful, but just me talking, and I'm very gentle. I know all my basic commands, walk nicely on the leash, and eat all my approved doggie vegetables. I've had many doggie roommates and do well with non-dominant dogs once I get over my initial excitement of meeting them. I'm still a bit nervous around human strangers and do best with new people who approach me with care, but warm up once I get to know you - especially if you carry a piece of cheese in your hand! I hope to meet my forever playmates soon, who can help me feel secure and calm and be my best self!

To learn more about Rubi, please get in touch with sueneuhart19@gmail.com. Hi, I'm Rubi! Are you seeking a super smart, fun-loving cuddler? Look no further! I'm a star student- I've got some cues and tricks in my repertoire, and I'm always eager to learn more! Games are another big favorite - I always have time for a long round of fetch (I can catch in the air!) and tug-of-war. I'm also up for any adventure, especially one that includes a hike, a sandy spot to dig, or water to splash in. I also love car rides. I am house trained and know how to behave when I'm left home by myself. If you work from home, I will be your quiet colleague but will alert you when mail arrives. Following a morning walk I'm happy to snooze by your side. I would love to have a home where I can go on happy walks with you and sniff out my surroundings. A backyard would also be so much fun! I would prefer to be your one and only furry friend in the home. I can make friends with other dogs, but I prefer to get to know them slowly and pick those whom I have something in common with, like similar size or play style. I love being around my people and it just takes me a little time to make new human friends. And I am all about the child-free lifestyle! One last fun fact. I was born without a tail, but my nub works just fine when I'm super happy. There's so much more I could tell you about myself, but instead, I'd love to meet you. I can't wait to meet you and find my forever home!

To learn more about Rosie, please get in touch with dogs@lostdogrescue.org Rosie will be attending one of our adoption events coming up this weekend! To learn more about our upcoming events and to see which event they will be attending, please visit our event page at https://www.lostdogrescue.org/events/ (*please note that the specific event pages are typically updated on Fridays with information on which dogs will be attending which events*) Rosie is truly the sweetest, most easy going and affectionate soul looking for her forever home! She is appreciative of any love and attention she receives and would be a wonderful addition to any family willing to give her the love she deserves. She is incredibly adaptable and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. She is friendly and greets everyone she meets with a tail wag and a kiss. She has been introduced to children and is incredibly sweet with everyone she meets. She has been so patient and gentle with young children. She is incredibly affectionate and loves being around other dogs and people! She absolutely loves going for walks and exploring the outdoors. Rosie has shown excellent leash skills. While at home, she loves cuddling and receiving belly rubs (and treats). She is so smart and has been doing very well with learning commands such as "sit and "stay (she is very treat-motivated). Rosie has demonstrated an understanding of house training and crate training, so some treat reinforcement will greatly benefit Rosie. She will require lots of energy, attention, and stimulation, so get your active on with Rosie! Everyone who meets Rosie falls in love with her sweet energy. Who will be Rosie Riveter's forever home? You can be!

Female, approx. 5 years old, 46 lbs Personality: playful, easygoing, affectionate, snuggler, and outgoing. Who doesn't love a good Muffin? Especially a sweet, canine Muffin like me looking for a furever home. I am new to DC and just love it here, particularly long walks and being petted. I have a four-legged roommate who loves to play, but I am also totally chill on my own. I'm also a fan of people, and I will enthusiastically greet anyone who lets me give them love! I have learned so much since coming to DC, like improving my leash skills and sleeping in a cozy crate. I'm making progress on house training too! If you are craving a Muffin, let's meet. I can show you my leash skills and my friendly demeanor. I assure you; your Muffin craving will be satisfied with a lifetime of fun memories and no boring fiber. ________________________________________________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. Story
Goober is you guessed it-- the biggest goober! This incredible pup is so enthusiastic and loving toward humans and other dogs. Goober is a silly boy who loves to give kisses and has the biggest body wiggles and tail thumps. He's a major snuggler and is always excited to greet his foster humans when they come home. Goober plays well with the resident dog in his foster home and is always happy to play fetch and run around with him! Besides playing in the yard, Goober enjoys going on walks a few times a day and loves his toys and chews. This goofy boy is very food-motivated, which is helpful as he makes his progress in crate-training. He enjoys a good food puzzle and is very responsive to "no" and quiets down in the crate. Goober is also learning a lot of words, like "come," "sit," "speak," "down," and "up"! Goobergives 110% to everything he does, especially being a lover boy. You have to be okay with dog hugs and kisses! Are you ready for a rambunctious, affectionate Goober? Apply today to meet him! Goober has been generously sponsored by Celeste B. Thank you!
