Well, that's one way to get attention when you want to be saved. So, here's the story- There was a police report of a woman screaming but when the police arrived, they found poor innocent Vance tied to a pole just begging for help! A bit of mistaken identity but it worked. Vance, the very good boy, arrived here with a plan to woo everyone. He is so sweet, and gentle. We all so love this darling fellow, and we know you will too. The way he puts his paw on our laps just makes our hearts melt. So, we highly recommend you take a chance with Vance. He is wonderful!Check out Vance's video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=veOHzyo6vjg

I'm currently in a FOSTER HOME! If you would like to schedule a time to meet with me, please contact my foster parent at adoptablejimmy@gmail.comDo you enjoy lounging in the grass? How about strolling through the neighborhood and then lounging the day away on the couch? If your answer is YES, adoptable Jimmy would love to be your new companion! This silly young dog is basically the definition of a couch potato. He likes his walks long, slow, and with plenty of breaks in between blocks, especially when going uphill. If you have a yard, he'd love to romp around, and then when at home, he'll happily snooze the hours away! Jimmy is a friendly guy and has done well living with cats. He's never met a stranger and is always happy to greet adults on his walks. Squirrels, however, remain the toy of his dreams, so watch out! Jimmy does equally well in the city and the suburbs. He's undeterred by loud noises like buses and is interested but non-reactive to other dogs while out on walks. He wags his tail nonstop and enjoys a fun game of fetch followed by a chew session with his toys. He's also starting to discover squeaky toys -- it's a very exciting time for this sweet boy!Found on the street, Jimmy is hoping to find an adoptive home with patient people who will love him completely. Could that be yours? Jimmy sure hopes so!Check out Jimmy's video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nqs127ce8so

** I am currently being housed at our New York Avenue location. Come meet me at 1201 New York Avenue NE, every day from 12pm-7pm. Please arrive no later than 6:30 p.m. to allow ample time to interact with adoptable dogs. Or visit humanerescuealliance.org/how-to-adopt to learn more. We are just saddened and baffled when folks just abandon their pets! Poor Cheyenne was found tied to a pole on a dark and chilly evening. She was so scared! Kind people alerted us to her sad situation. Once Cheyenne got settled here, well she just bloomed! She greets everyone with a happy smile and a gleeful tail wag. It did take her a while to get her confidence back, but she did it! Cheyenne is a young, happy gal who would love to be adopted by folks that will give her a chance to settle in. She will reward you with sweet puppy dog eyes and loyalty. Please meet this beautiful, sweet pup today! She is WONDERFUL!

He likes his routine and sometimes likes to make his spaces known. He dabbles in escape art, so he will need someone willing to work with him while he adjusts to his new environment, preferbly with a secure, very high fence. He can get really excited and jumpy when he plays, and would need a home that allows him to get out his energy, but he is also a sweet boy who loves dogs his own size, and giving lots of snuggles and kisses. He is longing for a home that can provide him with the socialization and real-world experience he needs to truly thrive. With patience, understanding, and love, his personality can blossom. Armando is not just a rescue dog, but a potential best friend, waiting for someone like you to help him navigate the world. Fill out an application today and meet Armando – you're not just getting a pet, you're giving a second chance to a deserving soul!Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.       Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. Story
This is our sweet precious Lucy. Lucy had an owner but her owner used to turn her out every day to wander the streets. A friend of the rescue would pick her up when she saw her and bring her home. She feared that Lucy would get hit by a car so one day when she returned her home, she asked the owners if they would surrender her to a rescue. They agreed and Lucy arrived here happy as a clam. She's a big girl, not fat, just a big girl. She's a very gentle big girl, sleeps in my bed with all the little ones sleeping on top of her! She loves children and cats. She was heart worm positive when she arrived but we have cleared all of that up. Lucy maybe a little older at 8 years but she has the energy of a puppy. She loves to play all day with the rest of the shelter dogs. She is spayed, fully vaccinated and house broken. She needs her forever home, could that be you? PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION! ADOPTION FEE $350

Story
Female, approx. 5 years old, 46 lbs Personality: playful, easygoing, affectionate, snuggler, and outgoing. Who doesn't love a good Muffin? Especially a sweet, canine Muffin like me looking for a furever home. I am new to DC and just love it here, particularly long walks and being petted. I have a four-legged roommate who loves to play, but I am also totally chill on my own. I'm also a fan of people, and I will enthusiastically greet anyone who lets me give them love! I have learned so much since coming to DC, like improving my leash skills and sleeping in a cozy crate. I'm making progress on house training too! If you are craving a Muffin, let's meet. I can show you my leash skills and my friendly demeanor. I assure you; your Muffin craving will be satisfied with a lifetime of fun memories and no boring fiber. ________________________________________________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained. We also update our Facebook page daily with new cats and dogs.
