Hi! My name’s Houston. I'm a four-year-old boxer mix boy and kind of a beefcake at around 80 pounds. (I'd argue that it's all muscle, too.) One of the things I want most in a forever home is a human friend to hang out with, not doing anything in particular, just a couple pals spending time together. Wouldn't that be amazing? I'm a little shy at first, but if you'll give me a few minutes to get to know you, we'll be besties. And I promise to be your snuggle pup! Really, though, I’m way too smart to laze around 24/7. I know sit, down, stay, high five, orbit, between, and wait. Learning tricks is one of my favorite activities and I can pick up new ones in just a day or two. I love to run outside and play in water from the hose. In case I wasn't clear enough on that, I LOVE PLAYING IN THE WATER!!!. My favorite game of all is tug of war. (I'll even let you win sometimes!) I’m kennel trained, house trained, and am good at being left alone. In fact, I do some of my best snoozing in my crate while I wait patiently for you to come home. I’d do best in a home with older children because I’m still learning how to contain all my excitement around the little ones. Since I've been looking for a home for a while, I think I'd prefer to be the only doggo so I don't have to share. I’ve got so much love to share and I absolutely cannot wait to meet you! Millie will be a great addition to someone's home but we just aren't the perfect fit. Millie has undergone extensive training (3-week overnight "bootcamp") and has made great strides, but we have not put in the effort to be consistent at home with what she's learned. We are rehoming because our home is a bit too chaotic for her to be successful and she does not get enough walks & exercise to suit her needs. Millie is good with dogs and loves to play but is definitely dominant which can be overwhelming at first to smaller dogs. She doesn't know how big she is! She's a bit of a counter thief an will steal anything that smells good that has been left unattended. She likes to snuggle and be affectionate and will be all over you to the extent you let her. Millie is high energy and will do great with an active person/family who will give her plenty of walks and opportunity to run and who will be consistent in reinforcing the commands she learned during her training.

This 5-year-old Staffordshire Terrier/Boxer mix, weighing about 55 pounds, is filled with love and affection for his people. ❤️ Huey is fully housetrained and sleeps all night quietly in his crate or in ‘his spot’ on the couch. Huey has the perfect amount of energy. He loves to play with his toys 🧸, run around the backyard 🌳, then crash. 💤 He knows sit, kennel, and off. When on a leash, he is a strong dude and wants to keep moving, which causes him to pull. Huey gets along with other dogs with a slow, proper introduction and supervision. When playing with doggie friends, he doesn’t always want to share his toys, so when toys are out, it’s important to be watchful. Other small animals or cats are probably not a good fit for Huey. This big meathead likes kids but gets a bit too happy around them, so older kiddos may be best for him. If you have errands to run, he’d love to go right along with you. 🚗 He promises you can listen to whatever music 🎶 or podcast you want as long as he can stick his nose out the window 🐽 and take in all the new smells. Mr. Huey would do best in a home with people who understand dog cues. He is a couch potato at heart 🛋️🥔, and if someone comes to the door, oh well, he’ll let you get the door. Panda is such a sweetheart. She's a bully mix, around three years old, and weighs about 50 pounds. And just look at her adorable face! Panda came from a tough situation. She was stuck on a three-foot chain no matter the weather, since the day she was born. Coming to the shelter at City of Raytown Animal Services was the first time she's ever had the luxury of living inside, of not wondering when her next meal would arrive, if it would arrive. Having lived like that, you might think that Panda wouldn't be very fond of people, but the opposite is true. She's soooo sweet, and she likes other dogs, too. We aren't sure about cats, yet. She'll need people who are patient and willing to give her time to learn what living in a real, loving home is all about. We think an adult-only home, or one with older kids, would be best. It's a whole new world for her, but she's ready. Just a little heads up: Panda's going to curl up right next to you, so get ready for her!
