Story
Hi! My name’s Houston. If you want a dog to snuggle, I’m your guy! I’d spend all day right next to you getting belly rubs if I could. Really, though, I’m way too smart to laze around. I know sit, down, stay, high five, hug, orbit, between, wait, and I can even turn off the lights! Learning tricks is one of my favorite activities and I can pick up new ones in just a day or two. I love to run outside and play in the hose, but my favorite game of all is tug of war. (I'll even let you win sometimes!) I’m kennel trained, house trained, and I do amazing being left alone. In fact, I do some of my best snoozing in my crate while I wait patiently for you to come home. I’m getting better on the leash all the time. I’d do best in a home with older children, because I’m still learning how to contain all my excitement around the little ones. Since I've been looking for a home for a while, I think I'd prefer to be the only doggo so I don't have to share. I'm a young guy and weigh around 60 pounds, so I’m pretty much the perfect size! I’ve got so much love to share and I absolutely cannot wait to meet you! You'll get to see my cute little nub of a tail wag and wag when I'm happy and *that* will make you happy, too! Call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 to find out more about me! I'm in the Kansas City metro, but my human friends will transport me to the right home. #thepetconnection

Story
Hi there, I’m Fletch! I’m such a good boy. When you see me wiggle my butt in pure joy at the simple sight of you, you’ll know we were meant to be together. I’m smart and playful and goofy and so affectionate. I’m the perfect combination of energetic and fun mixed with cuddly and chill. And there is simply no place on earth I’d rather be than right by your side. My life hasn’t always been easy, but that just makes me more grateful for everything good that comes my way. I will make the best companion for you, if you just give me a chance. I am handsome, strong, and athletic, with beautiful brindle fur, the cutest floppy ears, and a charming, delightful personality. I’m even already fully housebroken and crate trained too. I’ve been through lots of instability and change in my life lately. I was feeling stressed and nervous at the big shelter where I was staying, before getting rescued by the kind people at The Pet Connection. They understood my insecurities and quickly found a loving foster home for me. My foster family makes me feel safe and cared for and so special. Ah, I can finally relax. Now all I need is for you to find me and welcome me into your family! Living in my foster home has been fantastic! I quickly and happily settled in with my new routine. I stay in my crate at night and when no one is home, and I do really well there, after a little initial crying. I’m very well behaved in the house, and I try my best not to cause any trouble at all. I’m highly trainable and I pick up on new things quickly, so please teach me. I’m currently working on controlling my excitement level when I play. It will help me if you stay calm and easygoing with me, instead of engaging me in rough play. I’m eager to make you happy, and I’m ready to learn and experience everything life has to offer. Once I know I’m home, you’ll find me to be a mostly quiet, affectionate friend who loves to curl up next to you on the couch for plenty of kisses and snuggles, or to keep myself entertained with my toys. I like everyone I meet, but sometimes I can be jumpy, so I’ll probably be happiest in a home without small kids. I wouldn’t want to accidentally knock anyone over. I’m an active fella, and I will need daily exercise to help me stay happy, healthy, and calm. I absolutely love going for walks and I do quite well on my leash. I keep my distance from other dogs on their walks, and that works just great for me. I’d love a fenced yard to run and play in! I really enjoy being outside, but I’ve been known to jump high and chase things, so I am a flight risk. Please keep a close eye on me whenever I’m outside, and make sure my fenced area is safe and secure. I’ll be happiest as your only dog. I want all your love and attention for myself! Still, I might do OK with other chill, tolerant dogs, given a proper introduction. Mostly, I’m just looking for a home with patient, kind, calm people who want to spend time with me, who will encourage and reassure me when I get nervous, and who will help me realize that I’m finally home. That’s all I’ve ever wanted. Please call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 if you can give me the forever home I've been looking for. I'm in the KC area, but my human friends say we can go for a ride in the car (yay!!) to my new home, even if it's not right here in Kansas City. #thepetconnection #fletch #happy #socute #adoptdontshop

Story
Hi there, I’m Griffin! I’m such a character! I’m silly and curious and cuddly and smart, all wrapped into one fantastic friend. I’m a little on the shy side when meeting new people, but once we bond, there is no place on earth I’d rather be than right by your side. I hope maybe you’re looking for a dog just like me to welcome into your life. Maybe you need me as much as I need you? I hope so! I’m an adorable, three-year-old boxer mix, with the cutest, frowny, snaggle toothed face that is sure to make you smile, and a delightful personality. I’m even already housebroken, and I have experience in a crate, too. I am so polite and well behaved in my foster home. I don’t bother a thing, even when no one is home. At night, I sleep on the couch or in a chair without making a peep. During the day, I do get the zoomies every now and then--I like to make you laugh, after all! Foster Mom has loved watching my sweet personality blossom. It makes me so happy just to see her, and I am always game to do whatever she feels like doing. Sometimes we go for leisurely walks around our property, taking in all the beautiful sights and smells of nature. Other times, when she has to work, I quietly rest my head on the arm of her chair, her constant companion. I also love car rides and movie night and just chilling out on the couch together as she pets me or rubs my belly. As long as I’m with you, I’m happy! I love running and playing and exploring in a fenced yard, but I also do well in a country setting, where my foster home is located. I don’t react to the chicks or ducks or geese, and I also successfully lived with cats at one point. I have done well with the other very laid back dogs in my foster home. We play outside together, and then coexist as we meander around the yard. They respect my space, which I like. I like to eat my meals and high value treats in a quiet, peaceful place, where I know no one will bother me. I’ll be happiest with bigger, tolerant dogs. Of course, I’ll be perfectly content as your only dog as well. I’m looking for a low-key, quiet, calm home without a lot of commotion, and with kind people who love spending time with me. I’ll be happiest in a home with adults or older, dog savvy kids. Younger kids just make me nervous. For the right home, I will make such a nice friend. I’m just a sweet dog, looking for a simple, peaceful life with people I love. That’s all. I can’t wait to show you how it feels to be loved unconditionally. I’m an expert at that! Please, let me show you what a good boy I am. Love, Griffin For more info on Griffin, contact The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387. Story
We'd like to introduce you to Scotch! He's obviously super cute and the color of butterscotch and, well...scotch, the top shelf variety, of course. He's only around 50 pounds or so and has a smooshy wrinkled face that makes you just want to squeeze him. Scotch is still young, only around a year old. While a little shy at first, Scotch is a silly, playful boy who sneaks in the sweetest little kisses when you give him a minute to warm up to you. We would be remiss if we didn't mention Scotch's love for treats, particularly the bacon-flavored delicacies (aka Beggin' Strips) and dog cookies. He's isn't a fan of getting into the car, but is very calm and quiet and lays down once he's in. Scotch is also awesome in his crate! He never whines or cries and sleeps through the night with no accidents. If you already have dogs in your home, Scotch would be totally fine with that arrangement. In fact, Scotch would LOVE to have another doggo in his new home to help build his confidence. He's still a pup, so he's filled with the energy often observed in the young. He loves to play and go on walks. But don't worry, Scotch settles right down afterward for some cuddles with his people. Before being rescued, Scotch was a stray little dog living under bleachers in a park. His foster mama says he has such a gentle soul and deserves the best. We aim to make sure his life is filled with nothing but love from here on out. Text or call us at 913-671-7387 for more info about how you can give this guy the forever home he deserves. Scotch is in the Kansas City metro. #thepetconnection

Baxter is a courtesy listing for an individual or group seeking a new home for Baxter. Baxter is not part of the PAWS program.   We show our dogs by appointment only upon receipt of an online application which can be found at kcpaws.petfinder.com  Adoption fee for Baxter is $150 (sponsored).  If you are interested in Baxter, please complete the online application. link to application: https://form.jotform.com/230296113596155 Baxter is an adorable Pit/Boxer mix, perhaps Lab/Pit mix.  Baxter is about 8 years old and is a big ol goofy boy who loves to play with his stuffy toys. He is a happy go lucky sort of boy, but can be protective of his people.  Baxter is fine with some dogs and not with others so we would prefer he goes to a home with no other dogs.  When he does play with other dogs he has a rough and rowdy play style that cam be overwhelming to some dogs. The ideal home for Baxter would be a quiet house without a lot of in and out traffic of non family members coming and going, a nice couch or dog bed for him to lounge on, a toy box full of stuffy toys and a privacy fenced back yard.  He is not a dog that requires a lot of exercise so playing in the house with his toys or in the backyard should be fine for him. Story
Stewey/Stewie/Stuey was found by PRCKC Outreach December 26th. He'd been hanging around outside an apartment complex for at least 5 days in the cold and rain. It took some coaxing, but the Outreach Team was able to gain Stuart's trust enough to get him to a safe place. Stuart was transferred to us and quickly found a foster home where he is adjusting to being a puppy. He's unsure about new people, especially men but warms up with a little patience and food. Stuart is kennel trained, walks nicely on a leash, and is mostly house trained. Understandably he's a little afraid to go outside in the cold. He has a fantastic pack of foster dogs to help teach him how to be a puppy and a part of a family. Stuart likes to snuggle with his human foster parents, nap curled up with one of his foster siblings or with the laundry. I'm guessing he'll be about 60-70 lbs full grown (he only weighs ~33# now and he's still skinny).

Hi there, I’m Dexter! I’m smart and affectionate and just a bit lazy, all wrapped up into one fantastic companion. I’m silly and goofy and such a nice friend, but I can be shy and unsure sometimes, too. I’ve just had a life full of instability and change, that’s all, so it takes me a little extra time to learn to relax and to know that you’re my people. Once we bond, you’ll find me to be such a lovely dog. I’m the sort of friend who will stay with you in your heart forever. I’m a handsome, ~60-pound sweetheart, with stunning, gentle eyes that will make you melt, beautiful markings, and an unassuming, charming personality. I’m already fully housebroken too! I found myself all alone as a stray with no one to turn to when Foster Mom stepped into my life. She was just what I needed at just the right time. She has been teaching me manners and all about how great life can be as part of a family, and I have been busy soaking up every ounce of love and attention that she shares with me. She says I’m ready now to start the next chapter of my life. I’m ready to be adopted! I hope you’re the one who will welcome me into your family! I’ve come so far during my time in foster, making Foster Mom beam with pride. Everything was so new and strange to me, but I settled right in with my new routine, and I’m very well behaved. My perfect day consists of lounging on the couch or bed, playing with my favorite stuffie toys, going for a short walk, and curling up next to you as you tell me what a good boy I am. I’m a sensitive soul, so please don’t be harsh with me. If you stay patient and calm with me, praising and encouraging me when I do the right thing, it will help me learn what you expect from me. I am one smart cookie and eager to please. Training me is easy and fun, aided by my love of delicious treats, of course. I don’t need a ton of exercise to keep me happy, but I do enjoy a daily walk. I’ve worked really hard on my leash skills during my time in foster, and I typically walk very well on my leash these days. Sometimes people or other dogs startle me though. Foster Dad helps me keep my distance from others, which works great. I prefer walking in familiar, low traffic areas, where I know what to expect. I am picky with my dog friends, so slow introductions help me to be more at ease. I currently live with two older female dogs in my foster home and we get along just fine. If you have another dog, I will need to meet them before we go home together, to make sure we’re a good match for each other. I need a home without cats, please, because I like to chase them. And I will be happiest in a home with all adults or older kids. The younger kiddos make me nervous. I’m looking for a quiet and calm home without a lot of commotion, and with kind, chill people who like the fact that I enjoy being a couch potato or a big lap dog most days. All I’ve ever wanted is to live a safe and peaceful life with people I love. It really is as simple as that for me. Living in my foster home, I’ve learned that life is so much sweeter when you get to share it with someone special. I want to share mine with you. Love, Dexter. Would you like to get together to make sure I'm your forever pup? Then go ahead and call/text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 and ask about me, Dexter! My foster home is in the Kansas City metro, but my friends will transport me to my forever home! What a deal! #thepetconnection
