Do you have time and room in your life for a foster dog? http://www.muttloverescue.org/foster.html *****************   Marigold is an absolute joy in her foster home.  She is very fun-loving, playful and sweet.  She LOVES chew toys but needs extra tough chews because she is definitely a chewer.  She is also incredibly smart and enjoys playing with her dog puzzle toy, which she is very good at solving!  As she is so smart, she has picked up basic training with ease using positive reinforcement.  She responds to commands to sit and lay down and she is currently working on “leave it”.  She also knows how to sit calmly and wait before coming out of her crate and sits and stays before exiting and entering the house.  She walks well on leash, so long as she has the opportunity to exert all of her puppy energy.  When she gets to run around her fenced yard a bit prior to walks, she does beautifully!  Marigold is crate trained though does not like to be crated for prolonged periods, however, she does very well sleeping in her crate overnight. Marigold is extremely active and will definitely need to go to an active family that has the time to properly exercise her.  She enjoys several long walks daily in addition to playtime in the yard with the resident family dog, whom she adores.  She has been thriving having her older, confident foster sister as a role model. She's also very good about going into the crate and staying there quietly. Squishy still hasn't found her voice although she has an adorable snore. KNOWN LIKES: Understandably enough, Squishy loves food. She also loves affection and has taken to following her foster mom all around the house. She especially loves having her ears and back rubbed. When she's really relaxed, she lets her tongue hang out - so cute!! After a week of unwillingness to leave the foster's yard, she's now much more comfortable about venturing out for walks and enjoys all the interesting smells and saying hello to other people and dogs. KNOWN DISLIKES: She doesn't love the cold and snow but knows it's time to go out when the jacket is put on her, or the leash comes out. She is learningto go up and down stairs and is gaining confidence on short flights. ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Squishy was starved (literally) by her former owners and was exceptionally weak and lethargic when HT rescued her. Since then, she's been eating and sleeping, building up her strength, and is now going on slow, 30-45 minute walks a couple of times a day. She had a tendency to gobble her food but is doing great using a slow-feeder bowl. She's doing amazingly well and is calm and low-key in every situation. She's happy to meet new people and dogs. She loves hanging out on her bed in the center of activity. She's very food motivated so she should be very easy to train. When she first came into foster care, she wouldn't go down even a short flight of steps, so she was carried outside. She's now pretty confident on short flights of steps - but hey, she has short legs, so her hesitancy is understandable! She has not let the neglect in her past affect her sweet personality. Squishy is an easy dog, friendly and affectionate, who doesn't require tons of exercise. She is so deserving of a special home to provide the love and care she clearly wants. Meet Solar Astro - Astro is about 10 weeks old and about 12 lbs. We think he looks like a Boxer/Lab Mix (just a guess). This adorable boy is being fostered with his brother Solar Pluto. Both pups get along well with the resident dog and are young enough to learn about cats. They are social and loveable. He is working on her house and crate training. Baby puppies will require an adopter who is at home a good portion of the day to continue training - no exceptions! This puppy is up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped and will need to be spayed at the age of 6 months. The Adoption Fee for this puppy $400.00. ***Please note, this pup's immune system will not be fully functioning until about 16 weeks of age and therefore, s/he is not suited for Apartment/Condo living or Town homes without a private fenced yard and will not be able to go to public places where s/he could possibly be exposed to the germs of unvaccinated dogs, such as PetSmart/PetCo and dog parks until s/he is 16 weeks old*** ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from CKRescue*** The adoption fee for this dog is $400, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. This fee DOES NOT INCLUDE spay/neuter if the pup is not already spayed/neutered. If the animal you are adopting is not already spayed/neutered, you will be required to sign a contract legally obligating you to have the animal altered. A $100.00 fee will be returned to the adopter once the animal has been sterilized.
