Story
Julien is an absolute dreamboat! Not only is he a slam-dunk in the looks department, he's mastered the "puppy eyes" and just sucks you in with one look. Julien is sweet as can be, just melting in your hands and showering you with kisses. This kid is a master snuggler, and his tail never stops wagging. Although Julien does totally fine with other dogs when a barrier such as a fence or kennel door is involved, he would prefer not to share your attention and be the only dog in his forever home. Julien came to us with many scars on his face and legs, so we're assuming he may have been attacked in the past and understandably feels a bit nervous around other dogs. Julien has spent some time in our staff offices, as he's a favorite around the shelter. He loves to help with office duties and make sure everyone stays on task. After a few minutes of exploring, Julien settles in and lays on his bed all stretched relaxing. Julien is one fantastic pup, that's for sure! All of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age appropriate vaccines. Story
Bruce is sure to make you smile! His intake photo from MADACC showed a broken dog, shut down, drastically underweight, and with a pretty deep wound on his leg. That photo just spoke to us, and we knew we had to help. Bruce has been such a fun dog to have around! He LOVES people, and just wants everyone who walks by to stop and say hi to him. He's a very talkative pup, knowing how to show his displeasure from being ignored. Bruce is still very fixated on food, understandably so given how malnourished he was when he was found on the streets, so our team has been working on teaching him patience and that food will always be available to him. We have not formally dog or cat tested him yet, and due to how fixated he is on food we'd like him to go to a house with older children. Bruce would do well in a family who is understanding of his traumatic past and willing to give him an opportunity to truly shine like the love boat we know he is! All of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age appropriate vaccines. Story
Hopper is the happiest boy ever and really lives up to his name. He is an exuberant boy and loves to play. He came to us from a crowded shelter in Ohio, and is extremely underweight, which will quickly resolve with all the love and treats our shelter dogs receive. While we have not yet formally dog tested him, we were told Hopper is good with other dogs. Hopper is quickly picking up basic commands and is working on his manners, and has been enjoying walks with our volunteers. Hopper is looking for an active family who enjoys a good laugh from his silly personality, and would likely LOVE taking trick training classes or getting started in dog sports. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age appropriate vaccines. ***** Luna has been here longer than we would like so she is a member of our Lonely Hearts Club and her adoption fee has been reduced to $300. *****Hey there, future friend! I'm Luna, a sleek and charming dog on the lookout for my forever home. Let me tell you a bit about myself. First things first, I absolutely love people! Whether it's a warm smile, a gentle pat, or just some quality time together, count me in. At the shelter, I've been known to be a real people-pleaser, and making new friends is one of my favorite things. I'm a smart girl and already know sit. I'm sure I could learn lots of other things with some positive reinforcement training. I also really love to play fetch. I hope you do too! I've lived in a home with cats and other dogs but its always a good idea to do slow introductions while I get comfortable making new friends. In a nutshell, I'm a friendly and loving companion who adores people, and I'm ready to find a home where I can shine. If you're looking for a loyal and affectionate friend who is ready to embark on new adventures with you, let's meet and see if we're a perfect match. I can't wait to bring some joy and love into your life!Medical History: I appear to be a healthy dog at this time, however it is always a good idea to have me meet my new vet shortly after adoptionWeight: 55 poundsAdoption Fee: $300 + taxIf you'd like to meet me, click the "Learn About the Adoption Process" button below to plan a visit to the shelter!

Story
Hope is being fostered in LA. She has both some vision and hearing, but is both vision and hearing impaired. Update: Hope is doing really good I was worried when her sister left she’d be a little lost but she’s not. She loves playing outside and running around with her foster siblings. Her favorite game is chase and tug a war. She’s still a big snuggler and loves attention. Goes in her crate easily. She definitely can hear just not sure how well ( always seems to hear the snack bag opening). Hope would definitely love to be your lap dog. She likes to cuddle and sleeps right by her foster mother. Hope plays well with her foster siblings of all sizes and breeds. She likes to play with toys and hang out with her sister Faith. She loves running around outside. Hope is deaf.

Story
Leo is an energetic pup!  He's hoping for an active family and maybe even a fur sibling to play with! Leo is more "pocket pitty" sized with the best pitty smile!  He loves to play fetch and wrestle with other dogs!   Oklahoma has a pretty cool program to help with their shelter dogs.. it is called "Frieds For Folks" ... where prisoners get the opportunity to be closely watched and learn how to train dogs with positive reinforcement.. so when we get a pup who needs some extra work.. or the shelter is just too full.. we partner with them to help not only set the dogs up for success, but also give prisoners the opportunity to learn and work with dogs... Lea was one of the pups who went through the program.. and here is what his person had to say.. "He is: Leo!! Dear Future Forever Family, Our goal is to help find dogs like Lea their forever home. By potty training, teaching basic obedience, and having fun too!!! Leo is a Black and White Terrier mix with a big heart. On his right side just plain as day! He is young, full of energy, very smart, and eager to learn. Like any young male potty training was a challenge but we got there! Leo has learned his commands very well but distractions can be challenging. He has learned to: Heel, Sit, Down, Touch (your palm with his nose), Look (you in the eye), Place (sit on his mat), Bed (on with all 4 feet), Stay, Wait (at a door or to eat when fed), Off (staying off people or an object, still working on it), Back-up (stop and tell him back-up when he pulls on the leash). He loves to chase his ball, he just don't like to drop it but is working on it, also loves tug-o-war with his rope and is learning to catch too. He will be a great addition to your family, will continue to learn, play and love you and your family for many years to come. I feel you will feel as lucky to get Leo as he will be to get you! Thank you for caring and becoming this great pups Forever Family! P.S. - `Also helpful for going to the vet is the command "Chin", holding your hand out and giving the command he will rest his chin in it. He also gets in his crate when asked and gets a treat when he does." ##2001991##

Story
Hi there! My name is Athena. I am roughly 2-3 years old and I'm a pitt bull terrier mix. I am potty trained and crate trained. I get along great with other dogs of all sizes and energy types. I love people/kids. I know some basic commands like "sit", "down", "come", "off", "leave it", and "stay". My favorite things to do is go for car rides, sunbathing outside, or lounging around on the couch with a bone. I'm a big chewer when it comes to toys so plush toys are destroyed in 5 seconds but get me a good rubber toy or a bone/antler and I'll be content. I love treats and am very food/toy motivated so continuing my training should be pretty easy. I do pull on a leash when I'm out for walks so please use a harness, gentle leader, or some sort of anti-pulling device. My foster mom says I'm working on it though and getting a little better every day. I would love other dog siblings, but also wouldn't mind being an only child. I'm pretty adaptable to my environment and love being with my people.  ##2014162##

Story
Marge was a total mess when she came to us, likely having a tough life as a former breeding dog who was no longer wanted. After a great deal of medical support and numerous surgeries from our talented staff at WCVC, Marge is on the road to recovery in a loving foster home. Although she's had a rough few years, Marge is estimated to be around 4 years old and has been lovely with everyone she's met. We can't wait for her to discover what it's like to be a loved member of someone's family! All of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and have received routine deworming. Introducing Tutti, the lovable Boxer mix with a heart full of affection and a zest for life! Hi, I'm Tutti, a spirited and affectionate Boxer mix ready to bring joy to your life! With my charming personality and playful nature, I'm the perfect companion for anyone seeking a loyal and loving pet. I absolutely adore my humans and thrive on cuddles and quality time together. Whether we're snuggled up on the couch or enjoying a leisurely walk in the park, I'll be right by your side, wagging my tail with excitement. I find great pleasure in the company of my loved ones and will shower you with endless affection and loyalty. One of my favorite pastimes is chasing balls and toys. Throw one my way, and I'll happily engage in an enthusiastic game of fetch. I'm always up for outdoor adventures, so count me in for long walks, hikes, or exploring new places. The fresh air and open spaces truly bring out the best in me! Having a four-legged friend unfortunately isn't going to be in the cards for me. I'll do best in a home where I am the only pet. I take pride in my impeccable house manners. I am housebroken and have mastered the art of kennel training, though I must admit that I have a soft spot for the couch or your cozy bed. After a day full of activities, nothing makes me happier than curling up beside you for a well-deserved snuggle session. If you're looking for an affectionate, fun-loving, and loyal companion, look no further than me, Tutti! Together, we'll create cherished memories and embark on countless adventures. I'm ready to become an integral part of your loving home and bring an abundance of joy and companionship into your life. So, what are you waiting for? Let's start our incredible journey together! **Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and once approved a meet and greet with the dog. Please do not apply if pets in the home are not up to date per our website requirements or are not altered. Wisconsin applications are priority, but Illinois applications will be considered if no small children are present in the home, the home is owned, and excellent vet reference can be provided. We cannot process applications from other states. Adoption fee is $350 unless otherwise noted above. Puppies under 1 year of age accept application for families with children over 6 years of age for large breeds and over 8 years of age for small breeds.
