Story
Heeler/Cattle dog fans – check out our white pocket Heeler! At only 18 lbs., Duke is what we call “fun sized.” Though Duke may not share all of the physical characteristics of a heeler, when we had him Embarked, he came back 66% Heeler. And we weren’t surprised with his results – personality/behaviorally, Duke acts exactly like a Heeler in that he is talkative, loyal, wary of strangers, intelligent, mouthy, attentive, bossy, and loves to herd the other dogs. He desires to fiercely bond with his person and will follow you around everywhere – he’s always at your heels! Sadly, Duke experienced physical and mental abuse before he found his way to our rescue. But, with a lot of love and patience combined with professional training and consistent structure, Duke has made some amazing strides. This special boy will need a patient and dedicated owner who can commit to continuing the work needed to bring out all of Duke’s amazing qualities. Given his breed personality combined with his underlying trauma, we understand Duke is not a dog for just anyone. However, if cattle dogs are your thing, we promise Duke will be a very loyal and loving boy towards those he learns to trust. Do you think that could be you? Please fill out an adoption application if you are interested in meeting our mini-Heeler, Duke. **Adoption fee includes: vaccinations, neuter, dewormed, labwork, dental, and microchipped. (At this time, we only do adoptions in the Phoenix valley and surrounding cities – within a 60 mile radius.) IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN MEETING DUKE, PLEASE FIRST FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION: https://pepperspals.org/adoption-application/

Story
Winston is a sweet and loving 11 month old puppy. Winston did surgery to remove one of his back legs due to being hit by a car. Now Winston is running and playing with the other dogs just like any other young guy.      Winston loves everybody.  He is good with dogs, big and small, kids, and adults!!  At 11-months old Winston has lots of puppy energy.  His ideal home is one with a dog door leading to a securely fenced yard. Winston is amazing and smart.  He learned how to use the doggy door with a bad leg and now as a tripod. He is quick to learn and very lovable. Winston is only about 35 pounds and would love another dog to wrestle and play with him. Due to his injury he will never be a dog that needs or wants long walks...a yard where he can play would be ideal! A dog door is important too!   Winston has been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. His adoption fee of $350 helps offset the cost of medical expenses. If you live in the Phoenix metro area and think Winston could be the right fit for you, please complete an adoption application* at: https://www.helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application/ .       *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Applications are forwarded to the foster family for review and follow-up.  April 29, 2024, 11:19 pm

Story
OKAY, seriously folks! People keep stopping to ask about my beautiful eyes....I have one beautiful blue eye and one eye half brown and half blue.....against a shiny black coat, I am a conversation starter!  I was born into a rural part of Arizona where there were too many dogs to care for so Help A Dog Smile stepped up to help me, my mom and my brothers and sisters move to the big city! I have loads of energy and love, love, love to chew on super hard dog bones! Although I am a big chewer, my foster family has done very well teaching me what is for dogs and what is for people. I even left all of the Christmas tree decorations, décor and presents right where my foster mommy put them!!! I'm loving all my new bones and my dog friends who I wrestle and play with all day long. I have learned all sorts of things living with my foster family such as how to walk on a leash, Sit, Stay, Off (I do love to jump on everything but am very polite about it), Drop It and Leave it. I am kennel trained, potty trained, wonderful but energetic with other dogs, semi nervous of new people at first but I do warm up fast with encouragement! If you are interested in making me a permanent member of your family, please fill out our online application:  https://www.helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application/ . My adoption fee is $350. *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Story
Hi, my name is Jynova and I was surrendered because my humans had me in an apartment and the big bad landlord said no. Off I went to the county shelter and these nice people at SPR saved me. I am probably a super mutt but I look a little like a small malinois. I have the attitude of a giant dog and I will try to take on any dog large or small. SPR says it's probably best if I’m an only dog. I tell you though, I am a lover and a player! I scoot around as fast as I can when I’m playing. I AM FAST! If you’re looking for a companion that can you can give all your attention to, I am your girl! Ps: I’ve never met a cat, and I probably won’t like them. Please contact SPR to get on my calendar and come visit me. https://www.savingpawsrescueaz.org/

Story
PWRESCUE.ORG **Phoenix Metro Area Only* Meet the stunning Miss Haley!  She is a 2 year’s young, 38 pound Cattle dog.  Haley is at her happiest when she is playing with her doggie friends and going hiking, jogging, walking shopping and riding in the car with her human. Her favorite word is "GO" and will want to be included in your life. She spent the first year of her life living mostly in a kennel with little human interaction, so she is timid with meeting humans and it takes time to earn her trust.  She will allow gentle petting while getting to know you and because she likes to “GO,” daily walking, hiking and jogging will be very helpful to help gain her trust.  Her owner must be patient and understanding in order to get to know her, but once she trusts you, you will see the fun, goofy young girl who wants to live a fun, playful life. In the home, she is crate trained, potty trained, does not bark and is not destructive. She plays with her toys and her friends or chills-out in any of her favorite spots.  Haley loves to be brushed and takes a bath calmly. In the community, Haley is dog-social and meets dogs nicely but with humans, her initial reaction when being approached is avoidance.  She will hide behind your legs so if someone wants to meet her, she will need a slow approach to petting. Haley would do best in a home with a yard for play and zoomies, one or more playful dogs and one or two active adults who have the patience to get to know her and to introduce her to the community.  We recommend a child-free home because of her timidness and human avoidance.  She is not a cuddly dog, but likes to be with you.  Haley is up to date on vaccinations, spayed and microchipped.  If you are interested in this beautiful girl, please visit our website at:  https://pwrescue.org and click on the “Adopt” button to complete an application.  Meet and greets can be set up with an approved application only.  Her adoption fee is $250.00.  Pathways Home Animal Rescue April 30, 2024, 10:30 am

Story
Introducing Homer, the charming male puppy with a heart of gold! Homer, a Cattle Dog mix, is full of playfulness and sweetness. He adores people, treats, and toys, and he's currently honing his leash-walking skills with enthusiasm. Like his sister and foster sibling, Homer tends to follow along, spreading joy wherever he goes. With a penchant for exploration, he's quite the escape artist and enjoys digging up fun. Plus, he's already mastered kennel training and adores his cozy den. While he's familiar with using a puppy pad, Homer much prefers heading outdoors, especially for his bathroom breaks, particularly when it comes to poop. Affection is never in short supply for Homer, who loves nothing more than being by your side.  And rest assured, he's up-to-date on vaccines, neutered, and micro-chipped for your peace of mind. His estimated birth date is 12/5/2023 and his adoption fee is $300.April 30, 2024, 10:08 am
