Hi! My name is Calvin! I’m a 4-year old pit bull/Aussie cattle dog mix. Yes, you read that right. DNA confirmed it! I’m the perfect balance between the two breeds because I cuddle like a Pittie and have the spunk of a cattle dog. I love to play tug with my foster siblings and/or foster parents. My favorite is flirt pole, cause I love to chase! You can find me sunbathing on top of my foster mom’s inflatable hot tub when I feel like catching some rays. I also really enjoy exploring new places, and have wonderful manners when I do. After some training, I now walk really well on a leash. The cattle dog in me makes me want to herd cars, but I know some really cool commands that give me better manners when out on walks and I see the dreaded cars. I can be a little mouthy when I play, but hey, that’s the cattle dog for ya. I’m crate trained, house trained, know basic obedience commands and am just a happy fun dude looking for my forever home. A home with other dogs (preferably female and more laid back dogs) would be fun, but I’m also happy to roll solo. However, I’m not a fan of our feline friends. I’m fully vetted, neutered, current on all vaccines, microchipped and looking for my perfect forever family. He will always be at your feet to help you out with whatever task you are working on. His favorite place is to be surrounded by people he loves and frolic through rosemary bushes at the park. His specialty is bed time cuddles, and he loves to be under blankets (especially if heated) . He strives to please and his favorite snacks are fruits and veggies He offers his excellent vacuum service in the kitchen during prep time. He needs to be in a home with out children and other dogs. This beautifully marked boy is Jake. He is a 3 years old Australian Shepherd mix who weighs 50 pounds. Jake is a smart guy. He knows: sit, stay, down, off, kennel, and paw. He likes to "help" put boxes in recycling, likes to "help" take out the trash! He is also house trained. Jake is good with people. He is initially stand-offish when meeting new people and warms up when given a moment. Like so many other herders, he likes to make his own introduction. With people in his home, Jake will pick one person and that person is his: he is friendly with everyone in the house, but he will always follow that one person no matter what. Jake lives with a small dog and is polite with him. He is also friendly with a family member’s dog when they visit. He seems to prefer polite dogs. Jake is good on leash. He can pull on leash sometimes, so sometimes needs a reminder to not do so. Jake is fine in the car. He prefers shorter trips. He did take a two-days road trip and was polite but didn’t settle. So he is more of a local drive kind of guy. Jake does have ear allergies, but a $10 one-year supply of "Allerclear" from Costco manages it just fine. Jake likes to run and play hard, and that can cause him to get a bit of a limp after play. Then, he recovers and is back at play. He is starting Dasuquin to help so he can keep up that active play. Jake will cuddle to watch tv for about 20-30 minutes, then he gets too hot and wants to lie down by himself. He can identify toys by name and color and will retrieve them on command. Jake is best friend material: loyal, engaging, smart. He only needs a home because he is not a fit with the special needs family member in the home. Jake is neutered and microchipped. He is located in Lompoc, CA. Adopters must be able to meet and adopt here. A home visit and vet reference are required to adopt.
