Dustin looks completely different from his mom and the rest of the litter! Saved from a rescue that got shut down in Mexico after people found out the absolute inhumane conditions the dogs were being kept in. He can be a little shy when meeting new people but for the most part he will give new people a smell and open right up. Dustin is very friendly with other dogs! He can be a bit vocal when he plays with other dogs but he plays nice. He can have a little more of an alpha personality over other dogs but he is not extremely alpha he can still be around other alpha dogs and have no problems. He is definitely a cattle dog mix and preferably looking for a home that has owned a herding dog before. Dustin is high energy and looking for an active household that is going to keep him stimulated and exercised! He would love to go on hikes, vacations, walks, and runs! Were not sure if our dogs are housebroken unless they get a foster home and unfortunately Dustin has never had an adopter nor a foster home. Were not sure why Dustin is always getting overlooked as we have had him since he was just a few weeks old! We have not cat tested him but we can on request. Due to his breed and energy level we are thinking he might not be the best with cats but again we have not tested him. My journey led me to this rescue thanks to a compassionate fellow rescuer who discovered me in the vast desert. Life hasn't always been easy, but I'm now looking forward to brighter days. I'm an active and loyal companion who enjoys playtime and exploration. If you're searching for a devoted and adventurous friend to join you on your adventures, I'm here, eager to become your faithful furry companion. Come by and meet me and all my other friends at Lovejoy and see if we have a connection. We hold an event every weekend at our facility on SATURDAY and SUNDAY 11-5pm and open to the public. It is first come first serve we do not evaluate applications prior to an event. If there are multiple interested parties in the same dog or puppy at the same time we would pick the best out of the 10 applications. Please visit our social media platforms for the specifics for each weekend as it changes from week to week. Since my last so-called family dumped me on Christmas Eve 2022, I have been getting myself some extra help to make myself more desirable for humans. Let me tell you, it was not easy since I can be a little anxious and stubborn at the same time, but I am a good and willing student who also likes to please. So, here's the new me: I know my commands. I love going for walks. I love working out on the treadmill or running along with your bike. I enjoy getting to know other dogs but prefer a slow introduction. I can stay in my crate when you need to leave for errands but I'm not gonna lie — I'm still happiest when I can be right next to you. After all, we dogs are made to be man's or woman's best friend, and that is definitely who I want to be for you. She just has something that makes people gravitate to her! Grace’s favorite activities are sunbathing and laying by your feet while you cook dinner. She is great at taste testing! Grace barley escaped euthanasia at Downey Shelter. She is looking for a family that will treat her as their own and cherish her forever. Hi there! Please meet Opal, a 2 year old Kelpie/Staffy mix. She might even have some black panther in her😂. Opal is a sweet girl, who gets along with dogs and kids of all ages and sizes. Right now, she is living with a Great Dane puppy, a teeny 3.5 pound Chihuahua, and an 8 year old boy. All of whom she loves to cuddle and do zoomies for. When Opal is not enjoying the great outdoors, she is quietly entertaining herself while her foster mom works. Opal was picked up by animal control as a stray. While at the shelter, she was constantly overlooked. Her beautiful eyes weren’t enough to get people to look past her color. With that said, she was past by day by day until the shelter said she had no more days left. Before she was euthanized, we were able to pull her and place her in a wonderful foster home where she is blossoming.

Hi! Please meet Lola, our petite 8 month Kelpie/German Shepherd mix! She is up to date on all medical, including spay, and completely healthy. I love cats, dogs (big and small) and kids. While in the shelter, Lola missed out on some of her prime puppy months, so she is making up for them now with lots of zoomies and a big smile on her face. She plays hard and then falls asleep snoring even harder. Even on the shelter, Lola continued to make friends with everyone she met. Her best friends were Melody and Ariel, when they got adopted Lola was left alone on the euthanasia list. Luckily, with a foster offer, we were able to pull Lola and give her a fair chance to find her forever family! Could that be you?
