Nola is a super sweet and affectionate girl. She is slowly learning the world is not always a scary place but is still very nervous. She gets worried and tries to duck away when she hears loud noises. She warms up to people quickly with a proper introduction. Otherwise, she tends to be nervous of new people. Once you've earned her trust, she likes to show her affection - she will climb up onto if not corrected, and will jump into your lap and give you kisses. She is not really interested in other dogs and tries to keep her distance while on walks. She gets easily overwhelmed by energetic dogs, larger dogs, and groups of dogs. When introduced to another dog she is selective, so slow and careful introductions are a must. She will do best with an experienced owner who can help her build her confidence and allow her time to move at her own pace when it comes to making new human and dog friends. Her foster had the following to say (11/2023): "Her favorite things at the moment are her stuffed duck toy and chicken. You'll often find Nola on the floor of our living room rolling on her back while squeaking her duck. Nola has bonded strongly with myself and is continuing to warm up to the rest of the family. She would do better in a house with someone who works from home or is home most of the time. She prefers to be with her people but can be left alone. She is house trained. She will not ask to go out but will wait until she is let out. She likes to chase the squirrels in our backyard, given this we are not sure if she would do well in a home with cats."

Banjo is charming, and needs to be in a rural environment with very little traffic coming and going from his home. He is very smart but he is adamant about taking hoses, But it is a lot of fun to use the hose near him unless you're trying to get something done).....he loves to leap up and bite the water. Hilarious and adorable. He will need an adult-only home who have had plenty experience with this breed. He needs more work on training and socialization. Banjo is a sweetheart he loves to go for walks, just short ones. He isn't very big into hiking and mostly just enjoys the company of his humans.

Tulip recently went out on a little staycation with a volunteer to learn more about her habits in a home setting. We are pleased to share that fabulous Miss Tulip did fantastic in her home! Tulip may take time to bloom, her Foster reported 4 days to feel comfy, but once she does, she is a lover (especially with face kisses, and full body cuddles) and while sensitive to loud noises was very food motivated and able to be lured away! Look at her go!Tulip also got to try her hand at loose leash walking (that's fancy speak for not pulling) and her Foster reported great improvement: "by the end of the week, especially the last few days, all of their walks were with a calm loose leash and of course lots of sniffing and exploring."She was said to be a patient co-pilot and although she wasn't the most avid adventurer she was learning. Her exploration of the loud city also got bolder and with slow introductions, lots of treats and taking it at quieter times she was improving in only her short vacation from the shelter. She was also learning to pass other dogs on the street but would still prefer to be the only dog in the home!

He is a happy fella that may have been born with or experienced some previous trauma that has led to what we think are neurological and brain function, and mild depth perception issues. He's a busy boy with a lot of motion and circling. He likes toys, loves treats!! This doesn't seem to inhibit him from loving life, and wanting to have fun! He will need to find a family that not only has experience, but are also willing to take on the quirks that make him so special. He will need to meet everyone in the family prior to adoption, and we recommend no kids, teenagers are fine. Any dogs he is to live with need to be tolerant and non reactive. Positive reinforcement training is recommended to help teach him manners, he grabs at food so some caution is needed when giving treats.
