How this pet arrived: Nemo was brought in by a community member. Why Nemo might be the one for you:Nemo came to us with only three legs but that has not stopped him from climbing stairs to get into his foster's bed with her. His fosters says that Nemo is so friendly meeting strangers that they ask if he is a puppy (he isn't) because of his big smile and how excited he is to meet them. He has been easy to train per his foster - he remembers what he should do and what he shouldn't do. This happy boy is always ready to join you for a walk, playtime or a relaxing cuddle session. He loves to go for adventures and rides well in the car. He is ready to make friends everywhere he goes and will solicit pets and attention from anyone willing to say hello. If you're looking for a friendly pup who will be your loyal companion, grab a leash and collar and come to meet Nemo today! How this pet arrived:This pet was brought in by a Good Samaritan on November 5th, 2025. At SDHS:This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and fixed. They are now ready for their new home! Why this pet is the one for you:Say hi to Haze! Haze is a sweet, active girl who needs a calm, patient home to help her feel safe and understood. New environments and unfamiliar people can be overwhelming for her, but with slow introductions, soft voices, and plenty of tasty treats, she warms up and shows her affectionate side. Once comfortable, Haze walks nicely on lease and enjoys pets. She's more of a "quiet home" kind of dog and would do best in a low-traffic setting with older children who can respect her space. Haze has met other dogs but prefers to keep interactions low-key, making her a better fit for a home without dog parks or off-leash social scenes. With structure, understanding, and gentle guidance, this lovely girl is sure to blossom into a loyal and loving companion for adopters who appreciate a sensitive soul with tons of potential. If you are looking for an active pup who will keep you on your toes, stop by our San Diego Campus and ask about Haze today! Story
Age: 2y Gender: Male Breed: Red heeler / Australian Shepherd mix Weight: 58 Personality: Jack is very shy at this time, especially with men. He does love and trust women. When left alone, he whimpers for a few minutes but then settles. Friendliness: Dogs: Yes Cats: Unknown Kids: Unknown Education: Bathroom and crate trained Favorite Activities: Getting pets and rubs, especially his ears and back of his head, getting naps Looking For: A calm home with a patient, understanding woman or a gentle family who doesn’t rush him. He can be in a home with another calm dog or as an only dog. Special Needs: He just needs patient humans to give him time to relax and gain trust Not to be cheesy but… this shy guy will melt your heart!  Hi! I’m Jack — a two-year-old, 58-pound red heeler/Australian shepherd mix with a gentle soul. I was rescued from the ESLR 2.0 hoarding situation in Mexico, and after everything I’ve been through, I’m slowly learning that the world can be kind. I just need a little time (and a lot of patience) to believe it. If you’re looking for an instant cuddle bug, I’m probably not your guy — at least not right away. I’m a cautious boy who needs to build trust slowly. It can take me several days or even weeks to feel comfortable enough to leave my crate or seek attention. But once I realize you’re safe, I start to thaw like warm cheesy guy that I am— gentle, sweet, and grateful for every bit of love you offer. I tend to bond with women. My foster mom is my favorite person, and my tail practically turns into a helicopter when she walks in the room. Men make me nervous, and it may take quite a bit longer for me to feel secure with them. I’ll be the most loyal, loving companion you could ask for! I’m house-trained, crate-trained, and very quiet. I don’t bark much (even at the mailman!) and I’m content to nap the day away while you work. I get along fine with calm dogs, though I’m not really interested in playing quite yet. A calm home,  ideally with a patient, understanding woman or a gentle family who doesn’t rush me — would be the cheddar to my mac. It might take time for me to come out of my shell, but I promise I’m worth it. Beneath my shy exterior is a dog who just wants to love and be loved. I’m just waiting for the right person to help me feel safe so I can shine! If you have a quiet home and a kind heart, I think we could make a grate match. My adoption fee is $350 and includes neuter, vaccinations, and microchip. Apply to meet me here: theanimalpad.org/adoption-application ##2566526##
