Story
Hartman is a strong little pup in every way.  He is a Red Heeler through and through! Found with his Momma Red Heeler on a isolated country backroad in Middle Tennessee, he was part of a litter of 6 pups who were only 3.5 pounds when found..  Probably 4-5 weeks old.  That was Feb. 13th, 2026.  This little family was heartlessly dropped off for reasons the good humans in this world cannot understand.   The good samaritan who found them was kind enough to bring them to the already crowded rural shelter and within 2 days they were in the care of a wonderful Critter Cavalry Rescue foster home who helps with litters like this.  We have determined that perhaps the litter was born around the first of January 2025.  The story behind this throw away pure bred Red Heeler momma and her puppies will never be known but the future of their story will be shaped by Critter Cavalry's efforts to help raise these puppies in foster homes and find the puppies and their momma find perfect Heeler loving homes. This smart, energetic pup loves to be in the middle of the action and has already started showing off his natural herding instincts—he’s been known to help “round up” the kids in the yard.  Gently but with a purpose.  Some parents need the help and welcome it.  Others might not and the puppy can be shown that humans do not need the herding help.  Hartman was named this because he has a beautiful and perfect heart shaped spot on the top of his head.  As of March 6th he is 8 pounds and one day should be only 35 pounds tops.  So cute!  What his foster mom says, is that he would thrive in an active home, especially one with plenty of space to run and explore. A big yard or property where he can have a job would be a dream come true for this clever boy. Heelers are known for their intelligence, and Hartman is no exception—he’s eager to learn and loves to please his people.   After a good play session, Hartman is more than happy to settle in for some couch time and soak up all the affection he can get. He’s a sweet, loyal companion who enjoys being close to his humans. Hartman is currently being fostered with young kids, large dogs, and a cat. He’s done well with everyone so far, though he’s still a little unsure about the cat and may bark. With proper introductions and a dog-savvy cat, we think he’ll adjust just fine. If you’re looking for a handsome pup who is smart, loyal and ready for adventure—and cuddles—Hartman might be your perfect match!  Please contact us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com    We can adopt to Tennessee residents where he is fostered and we also transport to the northeast as well to families outside of Tennessee.  We transport most weekends.  Out of state adoptions will be ready around April 10th.      PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMarch 9, 2026, 6:34 pm

Story
Hickory is the sweetest boy!!!  This Red Heeler boy pup is one of the sweetest boy pups and his tenderness makes him the puppy who loves being close to his people. When he’s let outside for playtime, his first instinct is to greet whoever is nearby—just to make sure they know he’s there. He can be a little shy at first, but once he realizes you’re safe, he quickly comes out of his shell and shows his affectionate side.   His back story is that he was found with his momma and her 6 puppies, on a country back road in Middle Tennessee, loose and running helter skelter.  This family of momma and 6 puppies were heartlessly dropped off for reasons we will never understand.  Momma is a pure bred Red Heeler called Red Sedona and also seeking a new and Heeler savvy, loving home.  The family was found on Feb. 13th and taken to the local small overcrowded shelter.  Two days later Critter Cavalry Rescue had a wonderful foster mom who helps with litters and their mommas, take them in and get them started on a good path of medical care and human love and socializing.   For a pure bred Heeler, Hickory is on the calmer side and definitely an observer.  At just 8 weeks of age he is only 7 pounds and one day should be a 30-35 pounds smaller Heeler. He would thrive with an active family that has space, a fenced yard and lots of outdoor time spent doing things that satisfies his herding nature and working breed traits.  He loves to explore and would love to have jobs to perform.  He is already showing those classic Heeler instincts by trying to herd the kids around the yard.  Dog savvy children will be fine with this.  After some much-needed playtime, Hickory is happiest snuggling up next to you for a cozy nap.  Because he comes from a highly intelligent breed of dog, you will need to be smarter than him at all times.  He is already catching on to potty training and knows that a crate is necessary for nighttime sleep and containment.  He is so compliant to all of the new training he is being taught.  He loves it.    Hickory is currently being fostered with young kids, large dogs, and a cat. He’s done well with everyone so far, though he’s still a little unsure about the cat and may bark. With proper introductions and a dog-savvy cat, we think he’ll adjust just fine.  If you are interested in adopting this very smart and sweet pup, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com and tell us where you live.  We adopt to not only our Tennessee residents where our rescue is located, but we adopt to the northeastern states as well.  If being adopted out of state, he will be ready early April.  If local to Tennessee, he is ready now to continue his training and bonding with a family in a new Tennessee home.       PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMarch 8, 2026, 9:04 pm

Story
River is your confident little sidekick-in-training, with that “new place? new people? cool, I’m in” kind of energy. She’s fostered in a loving home with an older pitbull she adores playing with, and she’s the type of girl who walks into a room, makes a new friend immediately and promptly checks on the snack situation. River is estimated to be 7 months old, currently weighs 24 lbs with some growing to do, and all signs point to he being a cattle dog/heeler type. No guarantees of course given she is a rescue. River has great basic leash skills and meets new people with friendly confidence. She’s super affectionate and will pop up for some love, but it’s the sweet kind of “hi, nice to meet you. I like you!” enthusiasm, not a wild child moment. She welcomes pets and will immediately circle back for more pets if you happen to stop, because attention is one of her favorite hobbies. Insider tip- River loves treats and takes them gently, which makes her a dream for bonding, training, and general “yes, I work for snacks” negotiations. Want to see River in action? Head to YouTube for “River | Confident Adventure Pal” https://youtu.be/HdPOJnqrqg4 River is polite and confident meeting new dogs. She likes to get a feel of the vibe before jumping right into a play session but once she does- its all play even with pushier, rough and tumble dogs. She offers play bows, will chase and be chase, roll with the tumbles, and keep coming back for more. She’ll be happiest with a medium-energy dog buddy who enjoys chase and play without being overly pushy, since she can get understandably annoyed if a dog plays too intense and doesn’t take breaks Home-life wise, River could thrive in a house with a yard or an apartment setup, especially in an area where she can get consistent outings. She’s a heeler-type girl, so having regular walks, hikes, and “let’s learn something fun” time will make her shine. Treat-motivated + confident = a dog who’s ready to become someone’s hiking pal, training partner, and everyday bestie. Quick highlights: * Confident and affectionate with new people * Treat-motivated, gentle and smart * Dog-friendly with a preference for happy-go-lucky play pals * Adventure-ready! Bring on the walks, hikes, and training-yes please! If you’re looking for a smart, confident companion with a playful side and a heart that leans in for friendship, River is here and calling your name. Story
Lucy (the blue healer) was found in the walmart parking lot about 2 1/2 years ago. She is good with the other dogs. She's great with my 16 month old grandson and the neighborhood kids. Lucy is house trained and walks very well on the leash. We have never had her in a crate. She is fixed and we believe she has a vision problem with her left eye. She always turns to the right. She is very loving and loves to cuddle.

Capri is a sweet girl that loves her humans. She is a true diva! She wants mom all to herself so needs to be an only dog in the house. She is a typical Heeler and does have a chase drive so chickens and ducks and cats would not be a good idea either. She loves and is devoted to her humans and is very smart. She walks on a leash and loves to learn. She recently completed heartworm treatment, is spayed, wormed, vaccinated, microchipped and on heartworm and flea prevention. Her adoption fee is 400.00

Ever wonder if it is even possible for show stopping beauty, an amazing brain, AND a five-star winning personality to come in the same package?! Lucky for you — they do for this sweet girl! Juniper is a treasure of a dog, waiting for her forever home. Just look at those beautiful, bright amber eyes and freckled nose. Juniper is a gorgeous girl and a perfect medium size. She always upbeat and carries a smile on her face. Besides her looks, Juniper is also a very smart, trainable girl. The sky is the limit for her. She’s eager to learn. She’s also pretty athletic so she would be a great running companion. Or maybe you’ve always wanted to try dog sports like agility. Juniper would be perfect! And best of all, Juniper has a very sweet disposition with every person she meets. She craves attention from her people and will be a loyal companion for years to come! She would be perfectly content being an only dog or possibly one other canine companion that suits her fancy. She's doggy selective, and would need a little time to warm up to a new BFF once they know she's in charge of the playtime antics. Juniper is a year or two old, 40-45 lb.
