Story
Hi, I'm Conchita, aka Connie. I don't know my name too well yet, so feel free to change it when you bring me home. I'm approximately 25 lbs (the perfect mid-size doggo if I do say so myself) and came all the way from Texas to Windsor to find my forever home. I'm one of the HAPPIEST dogs you will meet. I'm full of young energy and want to give and receive lots of love! I'm super playful and will entertain myself for hours with a squeaky/talking toy or tennis ball. I love playing with dogs my size or smaller. I may do okay with a respectful large dog, but we'd need to test that out first. Just please don't allow a dog near me while I'm enjoying a good bone. I really enjoy walks and have got used to a morning and evening walk. I need a bit of training on leash as I like to zig-zag a bit, but I'm very treat motivated and will learn quickly. I haven't had an accident yet in the house, but my foster parents have been sure to watch me when I'm loose in the house. So you may need to watch me a bit to ensure I'm truly house trained. When my foster parents aren't home I spend time in my crate and don't mind it too much. I also sleep in my crate at night and sleep really well. I love running around in the backyard with my foster siblings. When I get excited to see someone I tend to jump up, so I will need some training. I can also be a bit wary on walks when I hear noises behind me or when I meet someone new for the first time. I tend to cower a bit, but I warm up within minutes and am jumping up at you to say hello (again, I'll need some training here). My foster parents tell me I'm the bestest girl and deserve a truly wonderful and loving home. If you think you can provide that for me, please fill out an adoption application! *Please note that there will be an extra $100 additional fee on my adoption price. This fee will help facilitate further transports so we can help save more lives in the future!

Story
Meet Jordan, a canine companion whose gentle nature and playful spirit are sure to melt your heart. This sweet girl comes from a large animal shelter in Texas with hundreds of others dogs looking for a home. Staff at her former shelter said that Jordan was one of their favorite dogs, and were SO excited when they learned we were able to help her find a home in Ontario. Jordan's personality is as vibrant as a summer's day, filled with warmth and joy. She's friendly, always ready to greet you with a wagging tail and a playful bounce. Her sweet nature is contagious, spreading happiness wherever she goes. Jordan is gentle, too, showing kindness to everyone she meets. Her playful demeanor promises endless fun, while her cuddly side offers comforting snuggles. Jordan's unique blend of joy, gentleness, and love makes her the perfect companion. While in Texas, Jordan participated in dog playgroups where she met many dogs of various sizes and was described as social, mid-energy, and a little playful with the other dogs. She also spent time in employee offices and they said she was friendly, calm and very happy for affection. She walked well on leash and enjoyed taking in the smells (sniffari) and exploring. She really enjoys being with people and is gentle. Consider adopting Jordan and welcome a new world of friendship, laughter, and unconditional love into your life.Adopters should know that Jordan does have something called "heartworm" and is getting excellent treatment and care from our medical team. She will need to return back to the shelter June 4th - 7th, 2024 for her final treatments. Her infection is considered stage 1, where she does not have any symptoms so this was treated early and we don't expect long term concerns. Jordan does need to take it easy during her recovery.*Please note that there will be an extra $100 additional adoption fee. This fee helps to facilitate future transports so that we can help save more lives in the future!

Story
The rescue said this about Jeannie: Meet Jeanie! This pretty girl is a canine delight, known for her friendly demeanor and sociable nature. Jeanie has mastered the art of being good with both people and fellow dogs, making her the life of any gathering. The foster had this to say about Jeannie is a very timid dog. Her adopters have to go slow with her. She is a delight to have in the house once she feels safe there. She loves to sit in the front window and watch the world go by. You can leave her alone and she is fine. You can wipe her feet and she stands quietly while you touch her. She doesn't bark much and is not destructive. Jeannie will be a great little dog for someone who will take their time and let her blossom. She would do best in an adult home or one with mature children.Though it may take Jeannie a while to come out of her shell in her new home, we hope that she will blossom into the social canine we know she can be!*Please note that there will be an extra $100 additional fee on my adoption price. This fee will help facilitate further transports so we can help save more lives in the future!

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay on Petfinder until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peak your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=26, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41, EXOTICS: https://us14b.sheltermanager.com/onlineform_view?formid=46) completely. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). Story
Hello My name is Barney and I am eight months old – born on Aug 10 . My mother was a cattle dog, and nobody ever meet my dad. I am one of 7 siblings. My foster mom says I am charming or a sweet fellow and sometimes little lover boy. I am respectful around cats and have lived with all sizes of dogs. Sometimes I get a little nosey around other dogs and they can get mad at me. I am learning how to properly socialize with the help of my foster mom. My foster mom also has several young children. I am still learning what some of the yelling and running is about at times in the house, but I am catching on quickly. My foster home for several months was a farm with cows . I have been around tractors and moving vehicles in the yard. I used a doggie door and slept on doggie beds. Now I am at a new foster home to learn new things. I sleep in a crate now . We do adventure days now to places like the creek or hiking trails . Little shy at new things but motivated by treats and encouragement. I think I could be such a great family addition. I am neutered , micro chipped and up to date on vaccinations. I am on monthly heartworm meds and flea/tick meds. My adoption fee covers a health certificate to travel and transportation from Tennessee.
