Story
Smokey is a 1 year old neutered, up to date on shots, male blue heeler, around 45lbs, he’s good with kids and other dogs, he’s not mean or aggressive with cats he just hasn’t been around many. He needs a home with someone that’s willing to take the time and train him, he’s currently living in a pen and has so much built up energy, so when anyone goes in to feed him he jumps on them. He just wants a family to call his own and throw his ball for him and let him be part of a family, in the house with them. He’s very sweet and loving and very very smart , which without a active family to help entertain him, can get him in trouble, he’s all puppy and playfulness. We use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport.

Story
My name is Tatum. I am a Red Heeler/ American Shepard/ Boxer mix. I am between 1 and 2 years old. I am very young and sweet. I am very loving but also skittish of strangers at first. I like other animals but they don't like me because I'm very hyper and I have a lot of energy. I think I'm a lap dog. I don't understand that I'm big. I need a big place to run and be walked regularly so I can run off my energy and be your buddy in the house. I am kennel trained mostly. And potty trained somewhat. But I will need you to keep working on that with me. I would say I'm probably better with older kids and adults just because I'm so hyper. As I get older and get room to run I will get better with that. I am very lovable and sweet. I am a people pleaser. I want to do whatever you want me too. I just need you to help me understand whatever it is you want me to do. If you are interested in adopting me contact contact bakerbridgerescue@aol.com. I look forward to seeing and meeting you, my adopter, soon.

I came to the rescue because of human irresponsibility but the line stopped with me and mama will not have any more puppies. I am ready for my forever home. I like to play chase and get pets. We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay on Petfinder until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peak your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=26, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41) completely. Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 75-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 dog/cat that you are interested in.-Attach a copy of proof of home ownership (i.e. tax bill, deed, or mortgage payment – you can black out the account #, etc.) or animal clause/agreement of your rental agreement. This must be in a .jpeg format. If you are unable to send in this format, please be prepared to provide this documentation in another way prior to adoption.Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other dogs/cats. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will continue to perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.
