We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay on Petfinder until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! Story
Meet Mariposa, the Sweet and Playful Australian Cattle Dog Mix!Are you ready to add a loving and energetic companion to your family? Look no further than Mariposa, a 2-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix who is sure to capture your heart!Mariposa is a 49-pound bundle of energy and affection. She has a sweet and timid personality at first, but once she gets to know you, she becomes a playful and loving companion. She loves playing with other dogs and enjoys going on walks on a leash, making her a great walking buddy. What Mariposa is looking for in her forever home:- A fenced yard: As a working class dog, Mariposa needs room to run around and play, so a securely fenced yard is a must.- An active family: Mariposa loves to stay active and engaged, so she`d thrive with a family that enjoys outdoor activities like hiking, running, or simply playing fetch.- Monitor with cats: While Mariposa gets along with other dogs, she may need some time to warm up to cats. A slow introduction process with any feline friends in the household would be appreciated.- Dog-savvy children: Mariposa is gentle and loving, but as a high-energy breed, she may accidentally knock over or step on children. Children should be taught how to interact with her gently and respectfully.- No mobile homes or apartments: As mentioned earlier, Mariposa is a working class dog who requires regular exercise and mental stimulation. Mobile homes or apartments may not provide her with the space and activity she needs.Additional needs:Regular brushing: Mariposa has a double coat that sheds heavily, so regular brushing will help keep her looking her best and prevent matting.Consistent training: As a timid pup at first, Mariposa may require consistent training and positive reinforcement to help her build confidence. If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm.My adoption fee is $50.

Story
This baby and siblings were found by a passerby on the side of a street. They are a beautiful bunch of colors!! Some speckled, some merle, a couple brown and a lone black and white pup. They are very friendly and would be fine in any type of family environment. They will need the basic puppy training but will adjust to any routine given to them. They have no experience with cats so that will need to be a bridge to cross if needed. These babies are quite calm for their breed, maybe they'll grow into more energy?! They seem a little standoffish but warm up to people and they do like to play (especially with shoe laces). These are a sweet bunch of babies and all they need now is a forever family. We also transport every weekend alternating between the Northeast and the Midwest. Also, we use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport.
