💗 Name: Oreo 📅 Intake Date: 9/10/26 🎂 Birthday (DOB): 9/10/19 ✂️ Altered: Yes 🩺 Heartworm Status: Pending results ⚖️ Weight: 35 lbs 🐾 Good with other dogs? Yes 🐈 Good with cats? Unknown 👦 Good with kids? Unknown 🐕 Leash Trained? Yes 🏠 House Trained? Yes Oreo is a Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler mix, about five years old, with the best of both worlds: active when it’s time for fun and perfectly happy to be a couch potato afterward. He walks great on leash, is potty trained, and is a serious cuddler. He does well with other dogs. Whether you’re heading out for a car ride or settling in for the evening, Oreo is happy to be your companion. Oreo is sweet, cuddly, and knows what he likes - especially when it comes to bed space. He’s the kind of cookie you’ll want to keep all to yourself. ---- Currently this sweet baby is with our rescue, The Artemis Project, in Arkansas. We DO, however, transport monthly to the metro Detroit area of MI. Because we’re able to transport, we ARE able to accept adoption applications directly from residents of MI. Why do we transport? Because animal overpopulation is severe in our region, and stray and unwanted dogs have very little chance of finding a home here. These babies are, however, at a high risk of being neglected, abused, abandoned, euthanized or even shot (it’s “the way things are done” for some people down here). YOU are truly one of the only safe and happy endings for the lucky ones we are able to rescue. Upon approval of your adoption application, we will then transport your new furbaby to you in the metro Detroit area for just a small travel expense fee of $50 in addition to the adoption fee. MICHIGAN RESIDENTS—>PLEASE CLICK THE LINK BELOW TO FILL OUT THE ADOPTION APPLICATION: https://new.shelterluv.com/form/other/TAP/2450-michigan-adoption Before we can change your new furbaby’s status from "adoptable" to "adoption pending," the $50 transport fee must be paid to secure the adoption. At that time, we will stop accepting applications. The entire adoption fee must be paid prior to the transport in order to ensure your new baby has a spot on the transport. Thank you SO MUCH for giving a homeless Arkansas pup a chance at a real life with a family of their very own!

Unknown 🏠 House Trained? Yes Meet Snowball! A sweet, calm Australian Blue Heeler mix with the most soulful eyes. She's deaf, but don't let that fool you: she's bright, watches you closely for cues, already knows basic hand signals, and picks up new routines fast. Snowball settles into new environments with ease, gets along great with other dogs, and goes through the doggy door with total confidence. At 45 lbs, she's a sturdy, medium-sized girl who's ready to be someone's loyal shadow. ------------- Currently this sweet baby is with our rescue, The Artemis Project, in Arkansas. Don’t let those little legs fool you - Stevie has some serious hops! She’s got star power, a big personality, and absolutely no intention of being underestimated. Stevie has already lived in a home, and she was a fantastic houseguest. She’s house-trained and enjoys dressing up for her fans. Of course, she’s equally happy curled up on the couch or snuggled in bed. Her current lifestyle could use more walks and fewer snacks, but she’s ready to make that change. Stevie can go her own way on the trail or settle in for a cozy night at home. Whether you’re looking for an adventure partner or a professional cuddle buddy, this little rock star is ready to make loving fun. -------------- Currently this sweet baby is with our rescue, The Artemis Project, in Arkansas. Good with kids, Not good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Buster is a 3 year old Cattle dog mix that came from a rescue at 2 months old, birthing day was 8-14-23 home day was 10-15-23.As a puppy-typical velociraptor cattle dog, always chomping at human hands. Food motivated but not food aggressive. Knows basic commands, is goofy & stubborn. Knows many words & phrases but also has selective hearing & cleans his feet/legs like a cat. Grew up with 2 adult house cats and 4 outside cats-still isn't cat friendly. Too reactive for dog friends-makes walks a challenge, overly alert & protective on walks, especially at night due to critters & people. If he sees a skunk he will attempt to drag me across the street-haven't been skunked yet! His nemesis are the neighborhood squirrels! He loves to be outside in all weather but dislikes hot humid days. He would be better suited to a bigger yard or countryside with a man in charge of him & no small animals. Includes his 4x4 folding kennel.

Story
Meet Katniss! She is a certified ninja and she is ready to jump into your car for the next adventure. What her perfect home looks like:-she is good with dogs that do not mind her energy level and can keep up with her.-she is small but mighty! Hold on tight and keep her brain busy. She will need an active owner.-we asked Katniss if she wanted to live with cats and she very expressively told us no. So no cats for Katniss, please!-Katniss likes to work and herd small game so small children would not be ideal. If you are an active person and you are on the hunt for a running companion, Katniss is eagerly waiting for you.Visit our website to fill out the adoption application: https://bit.ly/HSofMacombadoptionapplicationIf your application was approved and you received a call back from the Humane Society of Macomb for a meet and greet, plan to take the animal home that day. We cannot place puppies/dogs on hold to come pick up for another day.All Humane Society of Macomb animals are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, tested and microchipped.Thank you for showing an interest in our pets. We can never guarantee the breeds of the animals. We do not DNA test. Please feel free to call us with any questions.

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application completely. Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 100-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 animal that you are interested in.-Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other options. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.
