Story
Max was a stray who had been wondering around a neighborhood since March 2026. Finally he decided he had enough and wandered right up to a lady's house and walked right in the door. He is friendly and has been staying with her friend who is fostering him. Max is a sweet, loving 1½-year-old Australian Cattle Dog (Blue Heeler) mix with a heart full of love and energy to share. He forms strong bonds with his favorite person and loves being by their side, whether he’s following them around the house or curling up next to them to relax. Max loves playing fetch, retrieving toys, going on walks, and spending as much time outdoors as possible. Like many cattle dogs, he’s happiest when he has both physical exercise and mental stimulation. He walks fairly well on a leash, though he can pick up the pace when he’s excited. Max is well-mannered both indoors and outside. He’s still learning to be comfortable in a crate and will need some patience as he continues crate training. Car rides are also something he’s still getting used to. Max appears to get along well with other dogs, although he would benefit from slow introductions as his experience with them is still somewhat limited and unknown. He seems interested in cats and other small animals, but his herding instincts provokes him want to chase them. Because of this, Max would do best in a home without cats or small pets. Max is friendly with people and enjoys meeting new friends. He may take a little extra time to warm up to unfamiliar men, but once he feels comfortable, his affectionate personality shines through. It is currently unknown how he does around young children. Max’s ideal home is with an active family or individual who can give him plenty of love, attention, daily exercise, and opportunities to play. A home with a large yard or acreage where he can safely explore would be a dream come true for him. With continued training, patience, and plenty of enrichment, Max is sure to become a loyal, devoted companion for years to come. If you’re looking for an affectionate, active best friend who’s always ready for an adventure and happiest by your side, Max may be the perfect match for you! Max weighs 48 pounds and his estimated birthdate is 7/23/25.

With a little patience and kindness, he warms up quickly and his sweet, playful personality comes shining through! He enjoys being around other dogs and would love having a furry friend to play with. His history and interaction with cats are unknown, so he may be unsure of them. Slow, supervised introductions would be best. He may need some house training and possibly crate training as he adjusts to indoor life and learns his new routine. A patient and understanding family or individual will be important. A secure, fenced-in yard would be ideal, giving him a safe place to explore, play, and enjoy being a dog. He also does well in the car and is happy to ride along with his people! Rasta A18662136 lb. spayed female, approx 1 year old -She explored the yard briefly before coming over for pets and attention. The corner traffic made her a little nervous but it didn’t last long before zoomies took over!-Inside she was still a little nervous and cautiously explored everything. It took her awhile to settle in and relax but when she did she enjoyed laying next to me for pets and belly rubs.-She is affectionate and gives kisses-She likes treats, sits and takes them nicely-She is not currently playing with toys-Energetic youngster-She still needs work on leash still. She pulls sometimes and can also be bouncy and jumpy when her puppy energy gets the best of her-Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper introsUnknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids•Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt •Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. •Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in. •There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption. •To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. **And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. My name is Fancy . I am estimated to be 2 years old. I am a very sweet girl, but I have a very quirky personality. I am very good in the house ; I am crate trained and have used a doggie door. I love jumping right in the car and going for rides ! I walk on a leash every day currently. When I first meet people, I am very cautious, and act scared. I defiantly bond very fast to women. Young kids scare me, and I tend to go hide in my safe place , my crate. Once I feel comfy around you , I act just like every other dog. I love to give kisses , play with my toys and go for walks on the leash. I love fresh carrots for a treat or a big rawhide to chew on. I have lived with several dogs before and enjoy their company. All my vet work is done, and I am microchipped. My adoption fee covers transport from Tennessee. I can be a very good loyal companion in the right setting. I don’t necessarily need a fenced in yard if you walk me on a leash every day.

Adoption fee negotiable.Harley, is a beloved Australian Cattle Dog/ Border Collie mix she enjoys attention/affection, peanut-butter and snuggles. She would thrive on a farm with work to do! While Harley is great with kids, she is food driven which causes issues when our toddler is eating. She is great with our older boys (10 & 15) Harley is crate trained. She could use more work on a leash (she’s better off one) and being around other dogs. She is very playful. We adopted Harley from a shelter (maybe 5-6 years ago) and in that time she has yet to come around to my husband (no fault of his own, we don’t know why.) Once bonded to you, Harley is a very loving & happy sidekick.Main reasons for rehoming:Food driven behavior around toddler & unfortunately dislikes a male family member to the point of needing to be rehomed. (Has never bitten)

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Beau is one special guy!  Beau is an Aussie/Heeler mix with the perfect combination of goofy, athletic, playful, and sweet. He will be 2 years old in October! He has plenty of energy and loves to have fun, but he isn’t overly in-your-face or overwhelming. He also knows how to settle down and relax when it’s time to chill. This boy LOVES to swim and will happily jump right into the pond for a swim whenever he gets the chance!   He’s athletic, adventurous, and would thrive with an active family, especially one with plenty of land where he can run and explore. Beau has been wonderful around cats, chickens, goats, other dogs, and kids. He’s potty trained and has excellent recall. He is not crate trained, but we just leave him in the house when we’re out and we can trust him to not destroy/eat anything. He currently gets to run loose on our property and does not wander off, which is a huge testament to how well he checks in with his people. He’s still working on his leash manners and could use some continued practice there. And when the day is done? Beau is a total cuddle bug.   He loves snuggling up and even gives the BEST hugs. Beau is the kind of dog who can keep up with your adventures but is equally happy to settle in beside you afterward. He would be an amazing match for an active home with room to run, a family who wants a fun companion, and someone ready to give this sweet, goofy boy the forever home he deserves.    Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The microchip is transferred to the adopter once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a one-time $15 microchip enrollment fee.  Microchips are enrolled with AKC Reunite.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost.
