Story
MJ is approximately 5 1/2 years old, spayed and weighs around 38 pounds. She is a mixed breed, possible cattle dog/lab mix. She has lived with a family of two younger kids (now aged 6 and 9) since she was nine months old. She is very sweet and playful. She likes to snuggle and does well on car rides. She loves to go for walks, hikes, and play fetch, and will often go on longer runs. She is house trained and likes to sleep in her crate at night. She is able to be on her own for several hours as her current owners work outside the home, and she does not seem to have separation anxiety. She has completed basic obedience training. Mary Jane is a nervous dog when it comes to loud noises (fireworks, thunder) and she takes time to warm up to new people and new dogs. She has gone to other homes for dog sitting, with other dogs present, and has done just fine after taking a few minutes to get comfortable. As the children have gotten older she has begun to show anxiety due to the children's friends coming in and out of the house. She has become territorial (aggressive barking, some jumping) in and near her house which has become a problem due to kids' friends stopping by and a neighborhood park across the street. Once she gets to know the house guests she is usually fine, but it takes time and some active steps to get there. Owners have done several in-home trainer lessons but do not have the time and focus that MJ deserves. She would probably do okay with another dog(s) in the home and actually may enjoy it. She is unknown with cats. Although she has done great with the kids in her current home, a home with no young kids would be ideal unless extra time is spent for her to adjust. Owners would be happy to pay for an in-home private lesson with a dog trainer to help her transition to a new home. Please fill out an application at sccpets.com (at no cost or obligation to you). Her adoption donation is $200.If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption application.March 7, 2026, 3:28 pm

Story
Meet Calvin ❤️🐾 If you’re looking for a loyal sidekick, adventure partner, and full-time best friend, Calvin may just be your guy. Calvin is a 1-2 year old cattle dog with the sweetest, most loving disposition. While he prefers to be the only dog in the home, he makes up for it by giving his people his whole heart. One of our volunteers recently had Calvin over for a sleepover, and he absolutely shined. He was a total snuggle buddy, did wonderfully on walks, had zero accidents in the house, and proved himself to be an easy, loving companion. He isn’t barky, isn’t chaotic — honestly, he’s just a really good dog looking for his person. Like many cattle dogs, Calvin is smart, people-focused, and happiest when included in everyday life. Whether that means neighborhood walks, road trips, hiking adventures, or curling up on the couch after a long day, Calvin is ready to be right there with you. He would do best in a home with older children, if any, due to typical cattle dog tendencies and energy. While he’d love adventures and outings, he does not need a huge property to be happy. Calvin could do just fine in an apartment or condo as long as he gets regular walks, enrichment, and quality time with his people. This boy is ready for forever — not just a home, but someone to truly bond with. And once Calvin loves you, he really loves you. ❤️

Story
Not sure on his actual age as we took him in from a family friend cause he wasn't working out in their apartment with their kids. He was doing fine but we're having issues with him being agressive and attacking our other dogs. It's very random and we've been unsure on what's the trigger as no matter what we do to correct it, it continues. We were thinking he will thrive better in a house with no other dogs. He's extremely friendly with people and super loving, but best with older kids. He is in the puppy bitey phase and a very high energy boy. He loves running around, digging up holes, playing chase and tug o war. He is a big food mooch, as he will beg and try to take your food (we've continuously try and work on that with him) He is potty trained and he is crate trained, but he will definitely try and pull things in to chew up. He is a loving, clumsy troublemaker.

Story
Patty is a lovable 2 year old Australian Cattle Herding Dog Mix we have her DNA and pet insurance that may be transferable. We adopted her 6 months ago from the Humane Society. The only reason we are rehoming her is we are both in or late 70s and she needs more activity than we can provide unfortunately. We will be analyzing anyone applying for Patty will insist you have a large fenced yard or ranch setting and show us you will be loving parents and owners.

Story
*This is a courtesy post for an individual looking to re-home their dog* Molly is an enthusiastic sweet potato who will steal your heart, and your toys! She will greet you with a toy and loves hiking mountains and cuddling on the couch in equal measures. She loves to chew on hard toys and tear the tentacles off octopus toys. No rope toys. Two walks per day is ideal, but at least one walk a day is essential or she'll be vibrating like the energizer bunny. A mountain or a farm may tire her out, but otherwise she's ready to rumble any time of day. Tug is her favorite game, but she's an expert at fetch too. She's an affectionate girl and will ask for kisses by sitting next to you and putting her face in front of yours. She’ll lean against you if you're not getting the hint!  Molly grew up with cats and gets along with male dogs. She's had some conflicts with female dogs, so another lady roommate might not be a good fit. She's done fine with new cats. She likes to be the boss (it’s the cattle dog), so she would do best with easygoing roommates and someone who can continue her training. She is shy meeting new dogs and people but warms up with gentle encouragement and lots of treats. She's done great in off leash neutral environments. She has not really interacted with children, so I do not know how she would be with them.  An active household would be ideal for her, as she would thrive with someone who could take her out running, hiking, etc. She would do well with an experienced owner who can dedicate some time to training. She's a quick study and food is her number one motivator!  Although she has not been on a farm before, with her strong herding instincts, I think she would thrive on a farm or with someone who has a large piece of land who can give her a job.  She has some reactivity and pulling tendencies on leash. She barks at people coming to the door and neighbors in the yard.  Although generally comfortable in her kennel, she gets fomo if she hears people having fun in the house without her! She won’t destroy anything if left in the house, but will get into snacks and tissues. Molly knows basic commands.  She gets anxious at the vet and when new people come over, so we have trazodone we give her ahead of time. Molly is spayed and up-to-date on all her vaccinations. She has a microchip.  I've fed her various brands of salmon and rice. I have not been particular about treats. Molly is a sweet, silly girl who would thrive with someone who can match her exercise and training needs.   ##2714998##

Story
Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxQD-9Bt1kw John Connor has been with the rescue since last summer since he and his mom were dumped in the country. He is about 18 months old now and I don't understand why he hasn't been adopted. He is adorable, he only weighs about 40 lbs, he is great with other dogs, people, and cats. Perfect little dude. He loves to run and play and splish splash in the water. He would make a great companion for an active individual or a family that enjoys outdoor adventures or spending lots of time in the backyard. He is currently still in Oklahoma where he was rescued but he can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take him in or he will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Note: No dogs are advertised as potty-trained because most dogs need at least some re-training in a new environment and after being in a shelter/rescue environment/strays. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue (copy and paste into a new browser window) Transport locations: - Washington State (Kennewick, Spokane, Tumwater, Tacoma, Tukwila, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Bellingham) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Montana (Missoula) - Illinois (Vandalia, Springfield, Chicago) - Indiana (Spiceland, Burn Harbor) - Michigan (St Joseph, Battle Creek, Ann Arbor) - Wisconsin (Madison, Wausau, Eau Claire, Appleton, Milwaukee) - Minnesota (Minneapolis/St Paul) - Iowa (Des Moines) - Ohio (Columbus and London) - Pennsylvania (Erie, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) - New Jersey (Bedminster) - Nevada (Las Vegas) - Arizona (Flagstaff) -- Vermont (Brattleboro) Vetting: neutered, microchipped, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 3, lepto vaccine x 2, dewormed several times, on monthly flea and tick prevention, on monthly heartworm protection, heartworm tested (negative).
