Story
Meet Tabitha! This adorable little girl has been in Wisconsin now for nearly a year :( We've learned so much about her during this time we just know the perfect home is out there for her! She prefers the company of women, and love to hang out with other dogs. Shes quite the snuggler in bed if you let her sleep with you, or she's totally fine hanging out with other dogs to snooze. She enjoys her time outdoors and does best in a home with a fenced yard. She currently is in a foster home on a farm and enjoys all things farm related! Tabitha will do best in a home with herding breed experience! She might need more than one meeting to warm up to you, but once she does, you are her friend for life! Please help us find the perfect home for Tabitha! She's one of a kind! **Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and once approved a meet and greet with the dog. Please do not apply if pets in the home are not up to date per our website requirements or are not altered. Wisconsin applications are priority, but Illinois applications will be considered if no small children are present in the home, the home is owned, and excellent vet reference can be provided. We cannot process applications from other states. Adoption fee is $350 unless otherwise noted above. Puppies under 1 year of age accept application for families with children over 6 years of age for large breeds and over 8 years of age for small breeds. Since they are still puppies, dogs under 1 will require a basic obedience and puppy training class, and spay/neuter at the owners expense. Story
Sprocket is a friendly Heeler/Great Pyrenees - best guesses - mixed dog. Sprocket is ready to go on any adventure he's included in. He walks well on a harness and is the most gentle treat taker! Sprocket was a stray so we are working on basic commands and house manners. He is a smart guy and learning fast! Sprocket does well being crated and is quiet all night. He is the sweetest guy and has the cutest tail curl. ##1955171##

Story
Remy-Australian Cattle Dog mix-male-neutered-3 years. Meet Remy! Who loves Australian Cattle Dogs? If you do, consider Remy! Remy is a special boy who came to CCHS as a surrender. He was surrendered because he would herd kids and wasn't fond of them. He was also surrendered due to be reactive to other dogs when on leash and behind a barrier. We have seen this at the shelter but if you take charge with Remy, that behavior is diminished. He is a very smart dog and Australian Cattle Dogs will take charge if they can so if you know the breed and can handle their need to be in charge, Remy follows your lead. It does take Remy a little time to warm up to strangers but he's getting better with that at the shelter, because to him, we are all strangers at first! Remy is only around 40 pounds so he's a nice size. He would love a country home where he can be in his element! Remy will chase things outside that move, such as squirrels so training a good recall with him is essential! He is also housetrained but needs time to adjust to your routine. Remy will bond quickly and strongly with his new person. He will be loyal, fun to own and he will be a great best friend. We know it will take a special home to take Remy, further his education and be his leader but we know there is a home for him! He's pretty comfortable at the shelter but it took him some time to warm up, so we expect him to need some time to adjust in a new home. Here is the short list for his new home: No kids. He needs a human that is a good leader. Another dog in the home may be ok as long as the other dog will put up with a Cattle Dog taking the lead. His previous family said cat friendly, but we still need to test him with cats. We just need someone to take the time to give this boy an education because the sky is the limit with him! He has a lot of potential. Apply to meet him at www.cchswi.org DATCP License #266742-DS

Story
1.5 years old Spayed female 52 lbs. Smart, active, and playful Looking for a home without cats Gets along with dogs I was adopted as a puppy but returned when my previous adopters had a baby and couldn't give me the attention I deserve. No hard feelings, though—I'm just excited for a fresh start! I'm a sweet and energetic girl who loves to play and explore. I get along great with dogs, so I'd love to have a canine friend in my new home too! I'm pretty smart and already know some commands like sit, shake, lay down, and crate. Plus, I'm crate trained and love car rides! When I'm not playing or out on adventures, I'm a total cuddle bug who loves nothing more than snuggling up with my people. If you're looking for a loyal and loving companion to join your family, then look no further—I'm here waiting for you! The online adoption listing websites require that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess.May 5, 2024, 8:48 pm
