Story
Bambi is a sweet, sensitive girl looking for the right people to call her own! This petite gal might take a little bit to warm up, but once she does, her smile and play bows will be so worth it! And once you`re her human, she`ll be your sweet shadow, following you everywhere and then will be over the moon with excitement when you return home. Bambi lived with another dog in her previous home and has enjoyed play groups with dogs here at the shelter. She would love to go to a home with a kind, gentle canine buddy who can show her the ropes. Given how much Bambi loves other dogs and gains confidence from their presence, we`re requiring that she go to a home with another dog. Due to Bambi`s tender nature, HSBV will only rehome her to a family without children or with children over the age of 10.Our team described Bambi as: goofy, curious, and gentle!Bambi can be met with until 4:30pm so our Training & Behavior team can provide adoption counseling.

Story
Meet Ronda!Ronda is a sweet, playful gal who may be a little shy at first—but give her a few days, and she’ll blossom into your new best friend. She’s an active pup who loves to run around and is learning to play fetch (though sometimes she gets so excited she forgets to bring the toy back!). Ronda is adjusting wonderfully to life outside the shelter. She’s mostly potty trained and will let you know when she needs to go out, but if she can’t hold it, she’ll use potty pads. She gets so excited to play outside that she sometimes needs a gentle reminder that it’s also potty time. Walks are still a little intimidating for her, but with patience and encouragement, she’s learning that they can be fun. Ronda is a Kelpie mix, though on the smaller side—she may even have some Chihuahua in her. No matter her mix, she’s a lovable, playful companion who is eager to bond with her forever family. She would do best in a home without young children. Slow introductions to other dogs are best, and while she’s still figuring out cats, she knows to leave them alone when told. Ronda can’t wait to meet her perfect match. Come see her at an adoption event—she just might steal your heart! ##2461439##

Story
"Four years ago, there was a little pup that fought for her life all alone on the side of the road while humans all around her evacuated due to Hurricane Ida. A passerby saw her and scooped her up, which surely saved her life. Having been a long time volunteer in animal rescue, her rescuer brought her home to CO and then reached out to MHCR for help. It didn’t take long for sweet, little, Roo’s dreams to come true. A wonderful family adopted her. Unfortunately, during the last couple of years, Roo, now known as Mara, began to not enjoy living with the other dog in the home. Right before the holidays, she found herself without her family, and without her home. Mara is now around 4.5-5 years old. She’s in need of an adoptive home as the only dog. Until then, she awaits her forever in a loving foster home. Mara is overweight, but once she sheds a few lbs she will fit into the medium/large category size. She’s house trained, crate trained, and trustworthy free roam. Here’s what her family said about her, and undoubtedly what she misses the most: “Mara loves cuddling more than anything. She mostly enjoys cuddling on the couch in your “pocket” (in between your legs). She will bury her head underneath pillows and blankets, and if she is able to sleep in the bed, then she will bury herself under the covers and snuggle up next to you in the cold months. She loves playing frisbee, tug of war, fetch with balls and sticks, and catching snowballs!” We’ve found Mara to be just as wonderful as her prior family did. She is playful, yet not high energy. She loves to catch balls and kill stuffies. She loves to take walks where she can leisurely explore and smell all the wonderful smells. She LOVES the snow and enjoys catching snowballs mid-air. She rides well in the car, jumps in on her own accord, and happily greets strangers. Mara’s favorite part of every day is when her humans spend time with her. She loves to snuggle yet isn’t needy and annoying about it. She is truly a turnkey dog that would make a wonderful addition to any home that’s not interested in puppy antics. The cold months are upon us. Can you help us warm Mara’s heart?" Mara Jade is being fostered in Denver, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs.* You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/mara-jade/. All people inquiring about pets listed as Courtesy Listings on the EAPL website and/or EAPL posting adoption boards should contact the current pet owner/rescue/shelter for answers to any questions and for final approval and placement. Please do not contact EAPL  about courtesy listings. The pet owner/rescue/shelter and new owner shall make all arrangements on transferring the pet, including information on history, vaccines, etc.  Please contact his family by  email or phone  Ejchadwick97@gmail.com  or 970-692-3022    Looking to rehome our little buddy! Archie is a sweet 2-year-old Kelpie mix weighing about 30 lbs. He's very affectionate and great with larger dogs, but we've learned he's not the best fit for our home with toddlers. He tends to get annoyed and overwhelmed by little ones and will accidentally knock them over when playing.   Archie would do best in a home with children ages 5 and up, or with adults who can give him consistent attention and training. He's energetic and smart, but he does have a few habits that need work - mainly digging and jumping. With time and training, he'll make a wonderful companion. We just don't have the time or resources to give him the structure he needs, and we want to find him a home where he can thrive. He is neutered and has his rabies shots. December 4, 2025, 5:41 pm

*****Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time*********** We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. ___ Meet Mylo – a 4-year-old, neutered, 44-pound Cattle Dog mix with a tongue that just can’t be tamed and a heart that’s even bigger. Currently in a foster home in San Antonio, TEXAS, Mylo is ready to transport out of state once his forever family is approved and ready to fall in love. Let’s start with the obvious: Mylo has a perma-blep. That’s right—his tongue is just a little too long for his mouth, and it’s almost always peeking out like he’s mid-lick or permanently saying, “hi.” A vet has checked it out and confirmed there’s nothing wrong—he was just born with extra tongue and endless flavor to sample. It doesn’t cause him pain, but it does mean he occasionally needs a little extra hydration. He also has a slight protruding bone at the base of his rib cage—again, no cause for concern, just more proof that this boy was truly “born this way.” We like to say he’s one part goofball, one part model, and 100% original. Mylo is an affectionate, silly, and curious guy who loves to play and explore. He has a bit of that classic Cattle Dog energy—he thrives with daily activity, enjoys long walks, and loves a good romp in the yard. He plays well with dogs of all sizes and currently lives in a multi-dog home with pups ranging from tiny Chihuahuas to an 80-pound Boxer mix. He does well reading other dogs’ social cues and adjusts his play accordingly. He’s also very vocal when he plays or gets excited—growling, grunting, and making silly noises are just part of his charm. Once you get to know him, you’ll realize it’s just his voice, not a sign of anything aggressive. He enjoys meeting new dogs on walks, though he might sound a little intense at first—again, that vocal streak—but he’s friendly and well-mannered. He’s shown some interest in chasing cats, so to be safe, a feline-free home is best. Mylo has met children of various ages through his foster family and has done well overall. Due to his occasional jumping and enthusiasm, we recommend a home with older kids (10+) who are steady on their feet and understand how to interact with an active dog. He’s loving and playful, and with continued positive training, will only improve his manners. This boy LOVES walks and has a zest for getting out and about. He can pull on leash when excited, so a no-pull harness or Gentle Leader may help make walks more enjoyable. He’s fully house trained and has been trusted to stay loose when unsupervised, usually sticking to his gated area and dog bed like a gentleman. While he hasn’t been crated in his foster home, he’s done very well with the freedom and would likely thrive in a home where someone is around more often than not, or with a flexible schedule. Mylo is currently fed separately from the other dogs—not because he’s aggressive, but because he prefers not to share his snacks or special treats. (Honestly, who among us does?) With his people, though, he’s playful, cuddly, and incredibly affectionate. He greets his foster dad with enthusiastic hops and playful vocalizations, looking like the happiest dog in the world—with his tongue hanging out and his tail wagging in full swing. He’s also very smart and responsive to redirection. He listens when called, loves being praised, and wants so badly to be a good boy. Like many herding breeds, he thrives on routine and benefits from clear communication and a bit of structure. He may occasionally flinch at quick movements or new objects (like a broom), so a patient home that understands his background and lets him settle in at his own pace will help him feel his best. Here’s what Mylo is hoping for in his forever home: - A moderately active family with a yard or access to one where he can run, sniff, and sunbathe - A few good walks a day or fetch sessions to burn energy and keep him happy - A family who will give him tons of love, belly rubs, and attention - People who embrace his quirky personality and celebrate his uniqueness - Continued support with basic manners like jumping and treat-taking (he’s already working on it!) - A home with older kids (10+) and maybe a friendly dog buddy or two - And most importantly: a soft place to land and be loved for exactly who he is Mylo is a one-of-a-kind pup with a silly smile, a loyal heart, and so much love to give. He’s smart, affectionate, endlessly goofy, and ready to find a family who sees his magic. If you’re looking for a lovable sidekick who will keep you laughing, snuggling, and moving, Mylo might be the perfect match for you. ___ **Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. ** Interested in applying to adopt him? Story
True to his namesake, Joey could be easily mistaken for a baby kangaroo! This sweet young guy is as bouncy as they come and would love to hop right into your lap. Our Training & Behavior team has been having fun teaching Joey all sorts of life skills, including how to walk on leash without jumping and how to relax with a chew when it`s chill out time, and he`ll benefit from a home that wants to keep working on these skills. He`s also been enjoying play groups with other dogs here at the shelter and would benefit from a home with another playful dog or regular opportunities to recreate with other dogs. Due to his exuberant nature, HSBV will only rehome Joey to a home without children 10 and under. Hop on over and meet Joey today!
