Story
Hi I am Lacey! I am a 7 month old, mini aussie/border collie mix, tipping the scales at just 25 lbs! I love to play with other dogs and am still learning how to be confident around people - especially men. I am a bit shy and scared still but adjusting well out of the kennel life! I love to play with my foster mom and foster sibling! I am still learning to understand boundaries with other dogs. Sometimes I can be a little pushy but I tend to respond well when corrected. Once I come out of my shell you can really start to see my playful nature. I love to chase balls and play with toys. I am so good at self entertainment. I am also really good at settling down once I have run around and played a bit. I play hard and crash hard, ah the life of a puppy. I also love to cuddle, give kisses, and receive belly rubs. I am potty trained - I only had a couple of accidents my first day at my new foster home but that's just because I was nervous. I have not had a single accident inside, or in my kennel, since then. Speaking of the kennel, I am working on getting into my kennel on my own. It is still a little scary sometimes but once I am in it I do great and am happy to nap a a little during the day and I sleep great through the night! I would love to find someone who is patient so they can help me become the best dog that I can! I am still learning many new things. I would also thrive in a home with someone who lives an active lifestyle to ensure I am able to get all my energy out. **Due to her being skittish she will need another confident dog in the home. It has proven to help her come out of her shell quickly. Exception if you have scared/skittish dog experience and have other confident dogs she can socialize with. ALL POSO DOGS COME FULLY VETTED AND WITH 2 FREE DOG TRAINING SESSIONS

** If you are interested in adopting Eddie, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ ** Meet Eddie! Eddie is a sweet and gentle boy, who found himself in a big, scary, overcrowded shelter in New Mexico. Farfel's got an email plea to help save Eddie's life, and we knew we had to help this sweet Aussie mix... I mean just look at that sweet video!!! Eddie is a 2 year old, 36 lb Australian Shepherd / Border Collie mix. He is a sweet boy who is good with dogs and people, and very affectionate. This sweet boy is a bit timid at first with all of his recent life changes, but give him a few days and he warms up. Eddie, once he was warmed up and is comfortable in his new environment, is a young, playful, and silly pup who will love his family with all his heart. He would enjoy another dog in the home, as he came into the shelter with another doggy friend (who unfortunately was adopted from the shelter without Eddie) and loves other dogs. Eddie will have so much fun exploring, and taking long walks and hikes along Colorado's gorgeous paths and trails. Hiking and socializing with other hikers is right down this friendly and active guy's alley. He is always open to new activities with a never-ending positive attitude. We'd like to place Eddie in a home where he'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and love. A (virtual or in-person) positive reinforcement group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area. Eddie is up-to-date on his vaccines, has been fully vetted, and is neutered. Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial. Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year. If you are interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ . **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application.** If you are interested in adopting Chowder, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ **

Story
UPDATE 4-6-24: Jax is currently being fostered in Tulsa, OK until the end of June, but transport to the Boulder area can be arranged for the right adopters. Please spread the word. Thanks. ---------------------------------------------- Meet Jax! He's a 5-year-old, 34-lb. purebred Miniature American Shepherd (mini-Aussie) looking for a great forever home. He's a loving dog that's always ready to play and do tricks. He's had a lot of training, including board & training school. His favorite dog sitter is also a trainer. His people brag that with all his training, he qualifies as having a doggy MBA from Harvard! Jax knows basic cues, as well as more advanced tricks. He has a big vocabulary. He is crate-trained and placemat-trained. He's an active dog who loves the outdoors. Fetch is his love language, as is going on hikes and walks. He also loves to ride shotgun in the Polaris when visiting a ranch. After an outdoor adventure, Jax is happy to lie down and chill near his people. He will follow you around the house. Jax needs to be rehomed due to an unfortunate incident with food and a toddler, who was crawling on the ground and grabbed him from behind. His family has a lot of grandchildren and decided that it would be too difficult to board him every time they come to visit. Jax is accustomed to teenagers so we think it's best to say No Kids under the age of 10. Jax came into his present home with two other male Aussies already in residence -- one of whom was suffering from anxiety. His people think the energy amongst the three dogs caused Jax to be insecure around other dogs. As a result, he has some leash aggression, however he can remain calm if the person walking him knows how to handle the situation. Jax can also be uncomfortable with strangers coming and going from the house, so super busy environments would not be the best for him. But in a home that's fairly calm, the best way to manage him is to give him a space of his own (crate, mudroom, etc.) when visitors or vendors are around. Family friends are a different situation and we would be happy to discuss that with you. We feel that Jax would do well with an experienced dog owner who will be able to give him exercise, direction, and behavior training, specifically in leash reactivity. We're saying No Young Kids in the home, and no kitties or small critters in the house as he's had no exposure to them. Because he loves to hike and play fetch, a backyard or spot with land is best. Jax is a loving dog with fantastic energy. He loves having jobs and will thrive being the center of attention in his forever home. With stressors removed, he will be a great companion to your family. For more info and/or to apply to adopt Jax, send us an email at SummitDogRescue@gmail.com, telling us a bit about yourself, your home environment and your lifestyle. A volunteer will get back to you shortly. Thanks.

Story
Meet Kylo! Kylo is a beautiful 5-year-old Red/Tricolor purebred Aussie Shepherd looking for a forever home. His people cannot keep him due to a newly-imposed rental restriction, and Summit Dog Rescue is stepping in to help. He's an amazing and extremely smart boy. He's really good with other dogs and often prefers the company of being around them. He's been living happily with a Corgi mix, and Kylo has always been very gentle and playful with him. Kylo can be cautious at first when meeting new people, but once he warms up he can be the most loyal and loving animal you'll ever meet. With some training and a lot of love and guidance, Kylo will be the best dog anyone has ever had the privilege of caring for. He's a very sweet and sensitive boy who will need someone to work with him when out on walks. His ideal home will have a yard or some space around it. He's currently living in an apartment, and it's too difficult walking him in such a busy environment. We're saying No Kids Under 10, please and thanks. Applicants with previous dog experience will be given priority. For more info and/or to apply to adopt Kylo, send us an email at SummitDogRescue@gmail.com, telling us a bit about yourself, your home environment and your lifestyle. A volunteer will get back to you shortly. Thanks.

Story
Meet Barry! He's a very sweet and loving 3-year-old Australian Shepherd. He's only known life as a beloved family pet and has never been in a shelter. His family had a baby recently, and his excitement around the movement of small children in the home has led his loving family to decide to look for a child-free home for Barry. Summit Dog Rescue agrees that a new home would be best for all involved. Barry would really enjoy a home where he could be the center of attention. Ideally he'd hike a few miles a day and learn new fun stuff on a regular basis. Aussies are bred to learn and work, so a home open to meeting his mental enrichment needs and taking him out on fun adventures is what we're looking for. Barry has only lived in the mountains, but he does to to doggie daycare in Boulder regularly and does well there. His ideal home would be in the mountains or in a place where he could easily access trails on a regular basis. He's working on his loose leash walking skills and doing great. This boy is super special and we love him. His adoption fee would be to his current guardians but would be nominal. We would require you sign up for training with one of our recommended fear-free trainers, so that Barry is successful in his forever home. For more info and/or to apply to adopt Barry, send us an email at summitdogrescue@gmail.com, telling us a bit about yourself, your home environment and your lifestyle. A volunteer will get back to you shortly.

Story
Paisley is a sweet, cuddly little puppy with the coolest tiger markings.  She is a little braver than her sister and loves to snuggle up to her foster family for pets and patty-cake. She’s a little more reserved around her large doggy foster siblings but loves to wrestle and play with her sister.  Paisley has been working hard on her potty training and sleeping in the crate at night. Training should go well with the right treats. Paisley is a one of a kind pup that would make a great addition to the family. Come meet her this weekend!  ##1981540##

Story
Phoenix is a cool little dog. While it may take a little longer to win her over, it is well worth it once you do. She is a sweet little shadow who is learning to love pets and cuddles. She’s a little shy towards new people and situations, but is coming more out of her shell daily. She loves other dogs and will try to play with anyone that will let her. Phoenix is crazy smart! She learned the dog door on her own in 1 day! She’s working on her potty and crate training, which is going well with some good treats. Phoenix is going to be a great dog for someone who puts in a little time and training. Come meet her and her pretty hazel eyes Saturday!  ##1981539##

Story
Hero is still learning how to be a Dog. He's made so much progress in the short time he's been our foster. He was very scared and unsure at first, but with some encouragement he has gained some confidence. He is unsure with new people but warms up pretty well. He is a big lover like a teddy bear, he loves to cuddle.  He is learning to walk on a leash, not perfect but has made progress. Working with him on sit, stay and some basic commands, he is a smart boy! He is starting to get the idea of potty goes outside.  Still working on potty training, but he is learning. I have 2 small dogs of my own and he has gotten along with them well, he likes to tease them to get them to play with him and they chase eachother around. He loves to play with toys, tug-o-war is his favorite. He sleeps in his kennel at night like a little angel. Hero is the best boy!   ##1981545##

Story
Terra is so excited to be a Colorado dog! She is such a happy girl who loves to play and nap. She is not shy or timid. She is friendly to other dogs we meet on walks and is not leash reactive. Terra’s got a lot of fur but loves to be brushed. Her beautiful coat is as soft and fluffy as it looks! She sleeps through the night in her crate and is mostly house broken, but you will need to figure out each other’s routine. Terra has a tendency to jump on people so her new family will have to work on that. She would do best with someone looking for a high energy dog. ##2033538##

Story
Ulmer is an adorable and smart puppy that loves to be around people!  He likes to run around with his brothers and snuggle up when he's tired.  He would probably do best with a forever home where he could be around people all day long since that's what he loves the most.  He happily shares his food dish with his brothers, and while he enjoys a good treat, he’s not super food motivated. He is very smart and responds to feedback. He is an active dog and would do well in a home with another playful dog, children, or a place to run around. He's too young for potty training or walking on a leash but he'll catch on quickly when the time comes. ##2033530##

Story
Buttercup is a 1.5-2 year old Border Collie mix weighing about 35lbs.   Buttercup was dumped at a shelter in New Mexico with 2 day old puppies.  Some crummy human actually dumped a terrified, exhausted, brand new Momma at the shelter to die alone trying to protect her puppies.  When the shelter moved her into a cage with her puppies she tried to protect them (obviously) so the shelter immediately deemed her unadoptable, but was going to adopt out her puppies at less than a week old.  Keep in mind, these shelters in this area are dealing with almost zero government funding and hundreds of dogs being dumped on them, so this is not their fault.   We couldn't let Buttercup die this way and we didn't want her to be separated from her puppies that she loved so much.  We scrambled to get a transport together to get them all here to CO where they would be safe.  Once the puppies were old enough Buttercup went to our board and train program since we had to do our do dilligence since the shelter had deemed her "aggressive".  The day she went to our trainer, our trainer called us within the hours and said Buttercup was the sweetest happiest girl and she did not need board and train, and could be put up for adoption.  We decided to go through with the training program since she was already there and we knew it would set her up for success no matter what.  We do strongly believe in training and will require her adopters take our partner training classes just so they can learn more about dogs and learn about everything Buttercup has learned while she has been here.  Buttercup is a wonderful pup.  She has an amazing zest for life and is just always so happy and social.  She gets along great with all other dogs and people.  She has a good amount of energy just like most Border Collies but she also loves affection and loves to snuggle.  She is everybody's favorite who meets her.  She would be a perfect dog for daily runs/hikes, a doggy playmate, an someone who wants a dog to love and snuggle! If you are interested in adopting Buttercup, please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com ##1773351##

Story
If you're searching for the most devoted and loving best friend ever....Scout is the pup you want to have around! Scout at approximately 10 months old and 44 lbs is just naturally a lover. When he looks at you with those gorgeous blue and brown eyes and sweet smile, your heart just has to melt. Scout is a beautiful and sweet as can be Border Collie / Australian Cattle Dog mix with all the traits that make these super- smart and personality-plus dogs very popular and beloved breed mixes. Farfel's received a plea from Rescued Pets Movement in Houston to save Scout's life. He was scheduled for immediate euthanasia due to a lack of space. They described this gorgeous herding dog as wonderful, sweet and just about perfect in his temperament and general demeanor once he's comfortable in his environment. Scout is a cuddler and snuggler all the way! He loves to to cuddle close on the couch for TV watching, or just hanging out with his favorite people is just about perfect for this loyal best friend. An occasional kiss from Scout, once comfortable in his new home, is inevitable. He's a sensitive and very kind dog who derives so much joy from his time spent with his favorite people and doggy friends. Scout is a young, playful and silly pup who will love his family with all his heart. He also enjoys other gentle dogs to play with... and then lying together in the sunshine enjoying a beautiful day is perfect. Scout will have so much fun exploring, and taking long walks and hikes along Colorado's gorgeous paths and trails. Hiking and socializing with other hikers is right down this friendly and active guy's alley. He is always open to new activities with a never-ending positive attitude...just say the word and up Scout jumps for a car ride, a fun backyard game or just a sociable walk around the neighborhood. Scout's rescuer had the following to brag about this sweet guy: Scout is a very gentle and sweet pup! He's great with all dogs and humans, loves to play, is well mannered and very obedient! Scout is also great on a leash, loves other dogs, and he encourages others to play with him in a very positive way. Overall, A+ dog! 10/10 would recommend! Scout's foster bragged the following about Scout: This gorgeous and sweet as can be Border Collie is an extremely affectionate and loving dog once he becomes comfortable in his environment. We would love to see him in a home with a family (older kids preferred so there's no tail-pulling or awkward handling) or active retirees who have the time and love for a very loyal and sweet pup. We'd hate to see Scout left alone all day while his family works full-time outside of the home. He seems too sensitive for that type of arrangement. Scout will thrive on spending time near his people getting loved up periodically throughout the day. Farfel's Rescue would like to see Scout in a home where he'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and tons of loving hugs. A virtual or in-person positive reinforcement group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a young guy whose self-esteem will fly high while he masters his skills. Training is so important to the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt Scout out to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area. Scout will require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming and excellent nutrition (5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement are great lifelong protocols for coat care and general health) to keep his coat cottony-soft, super-healthy and matte-free. Scout has been fully vetted, vaccinated and neutered to fulfill Farfel's commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs that won't contribute to the overpopulation crisis in the canine population. Scout will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Wednesday 5/1//2024. Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet, loving and loyal best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Scout please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
