Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Gentle, sweet and a little bit shy, but absolutely gorgeous!Meet Kona, a gorgeous, furry white and brown female pup who was rescued along with her littermates after being found in the desert with their mama in La Paz, BCS, Mexico. Kona is a little bit shy, but very gentle and sweet. She loves to snuggle in your arms and give you kisses when you pick her up, and her fur is oh so soft! Kona was rescued when she was just a few weeks old, and grew up in a foster home with good vet care, food, and lots of love and attention. Her mama is a small/medium sized terrier mix around 30 lbs, and we think there is some Shar Pei in this litter from the dad's side, but Kona looks like an Aussie shepherd mixed with a little husky. She is sterilized, vaccinated and ready to find her forever family! Story
Awesome Jericho's Promise Jagger is available for adoption in Southern California! Super sweet boy looking for a family that likes leash walks only, or likes staying home without many visitors. He is a perfect boy at home with his people, but gets defensive/possibly protective of his family when others come over, or he meets them on walks. With his family, he is the sweetest boy, and very well behaved, he is potty trained, and crate trained. He gets along great with other dogs and is ok with cats. He gets along with children that he belongs to, but not children that he doesn't know well. He is apprx one year old. His mama is a dachshund/terrier mix, but he looks like he also has lab in his mix, and maybe a spaniel of some sort. Whatever he is, he is a GORGEOUS boy! Long curly hair, that is glossy black. He weighs about 35 pounds, so a great size for someone in an apartment that doesn't want a tiny dog. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. Please let me know if you would be interested in meeting him! Can transport throughout Southern California!

*Courtesy Post* (San Diego) This is Blue, he is an 8 year old neutered male. He is crate trained, and potty trained. He is a big lover, however very protective of his home and an alpha dog. He seems to have some anxiety/stress due to the foot traffic constantly passing his current home situation. He would be best in a home with a yard, and no other dogs. He is a super loyal dog, and does well in the car. Loves walks, and tug a war. If interested please contact Kim at (760)310-0325 kdietrich714@gmail.comApril 25, 2024, 5:29 pm

Story
Meet Maya! She is a 2-year-old Australian/German Shepherd and Husky Mix. Due to her breed, Maya tends to be very vocal while outside and on a leash. We were in the process of getting her up to date on her vaccinations and spaying her, but unfortunately, we are currently facing financial difficulties and are unable to do so. Since adopting her at one year old, she has been in good health. Maya is an incredibly sweet, affectionate, and cuddly dog. She loves spending quality time with her humans, cuddling, and being outside. Unfortunately, we have not been able to give her the undivided attention that she deserves, and we hope to find a new family that can meet her needs. She is great with children and other dogs, she would prefer a home without cats. Maya will come with her dog crate, leash, bowls, and anything else that may help ease the transition. We ask for a small rehoming fee to ensure that she goes to a good family.

Story
Ruby is a beautiful young girl who was initially rescued as a small puppy with her family from a farm in the Central Valley where they were abandoned. She has been living with a friend who now needs to rehome her. She is very smart, very playful, has lots of energy, and loves her people. She prefers some dogs over others, so if interested, she should meet your dog(s) too, if you have any. Her only exposure to cats is when a cat wanders into her yard, and then she will bark at it. So, not sure about cats. She'd be a great dog for an active person or family. She will need a decent sized yard to run around in, and some practice going on walks, since her current owner hasn't taken her on walks. She is good about going in her crate when she is told. She will need to be spayed, but is up to date on all vaccinations and is in perfect health. Please contact me at cmiller927@cox.net if interested in this girl, thank you!!

Story
Sira's start in life is unknown but her journey here was rough.  Caught by animal control as a stray and young, she stayed pancaked at the back of her kennel and was not receptive to touch.  Shelter life was literally killing her.  She was failing and doomed to death.  The rescue coordinator reached out and asked us a favor, knowing she is our type of dog.  At the time we had space and said yes.  Sira was a unique case because she did not grow with time.  She stayed stagnant so we pushed her.  After several weeks of decompression, environmental exposure to the facility and dogs she continued to recoil at human touch or interaction.  Very likely feral it meant we needed to push or let her stay forever stagnant.  Despite the recoil you could see her soften and start to enjoy, if not invite, her regular massage sessions.  Eventually she opened up and learned to be a dog.  She is one of the more affectionate dogs at the faciility.  She is easy going, a true home body and good to just chill where she knows it's safe.  She seeks interaction from those she knows and trusts.  She is happy and content as long as her out of the normal activity and exposure is limited.  She's looking for a very patient, quiet home with adults who will assist her in gaining confidence. She loves to be pet and has a silly playful side when she feels comfortable with her people and her surroundings. Her ideal home would be one with minimal expecations she do "dog worldly" things.  She'd love to stay home, have just her yard, chill in the comfort of what she knows with the people she loves.  Is that you? Because of my Flight Risk I cannot be left unattended in a yard, crate training is a must when you are gone, tight grip on the leash is a must on adventures and my new family must be aware of open doors and windows.  NO offleash activities in unfenced areas for life. Story
Tommy is a cute and cuddly little boy with an eternally cute face. He was found on the streets with a tumor about 5.5" in diameter in his belly. He lasted a year in treatment with chemotherapy and medication and needed surgery to remove the remaining encapsulated mass. In addition to needing special food to break up a stone bladder, he has ultrasounds to make sure he don't get sediment in his bladder every three months. He is currently a healthy, happy, loving and tender dog. He is very loyal and protective, intelligent and playful. He don't get along well with alpha male dogs, but plays well with puppies and females. He is sociable with children and adults. Tommy is a Border collie mix, and is smaller than a Border collie. When you talk to him he makes a cute and cuddly face, ducks his head and rolls his eyes upwards, I think he knows he is cute and takes advantage of that. Tommy is a dog to spoil, to cuddle and to give him lots of love, since his first family didn't give him all he deserved. The $350.00 adoption fee covers the following: Transport to San Diego, CA. Spay/Neuter. All vaccines up to date. Deworming (puppies 2 sets). Flea medication up to date. Tick control up to date. Microchip. Microchip registration to new owner paid for. Collar. Temporary leash. The adoption fee does not include transportation to North of San Diego

Story
A great companion! Hi, friends! My name is Alonso, and I’ve come all the way from Tijuana to find my furever home!   I’m a 6 year old old Border Collie mix male, who weighs 45 pounds.  I’m potty-trained, house-trained, and leash-trained, and I’ve already been neutered, too.  As far as my health goes, I’m on Royal Canin Vet Diet Adult Gastrointentinal Low Fat Dry dog to help manage my kidney issues.  I also have limited vision in my right eye and am blind in my left eye, so I am currently on Prednisone acetate, which costs ~$20 a bottle, depending on the market value and where it is purchased and Optixcare Plus lubricant,  (~$15 a tube, depending on the market value and where it is purchased). I also take Telmisartan to manage my high blood pressure (~$15.00 for 3 month supply, depending on market value and where purchased).   I’m the sweetest boy! I love my humans and to be spoiled by them.  My favorite activities include cuddling on the couch, sun-bathing in the yard, napping during the day, getting belly rubs, and going for car rides and walks in the neighborhood.  I’m generally a pretty mellow type of guy, but I do get zoomies in the backyard, and I like to play fetch, too.  Although I love having company, I also do fine on my own with very little signs of separation anxiety. I’d prefer to be the only animal in the home since I don’t do well around other doggies or kitties.  Older kids (eight and older), though, would be a great fit for me. Basically, as long as I have plenty of time around my people, I will thrive be my best self! "The Animal Pad recognizes that taking in a new dog can pose a challenge to the entire family. Alonso’s adoption package includes a FREE four-week scholarship with our partner Goodpup (https://goodpup.com/). Goodpup offers virtual, individualized training to ensure you, your dog, and your family have the skills needed to thrive together. GoodPup Scholarships include: 4+ weeks of positive reinforcement training 24/7 chat for questions and support Access to a behavior team to assist in advanced cases" Do I sound like two paws up to you? If so, my adoption fee is $250 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip.  If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/.   ##1495460##
