Story
Early 2021, we found a posting about the most adorable fluffy puppies for sale. Oakley was the only one left and we took him home with us. He is a very spirited companion that loves playing fetch and running his little heart out. We had no intentions of ever rehoming one of our dogs, but our situation changed. Our schedules changed, but Oakley has always had anxiety around children and now we have a new growing infant. Oakley needs a home with no small children. Oakley is generally a sweetheart. He loves playing outside, chewing on toys, and receiving some of the attention. He is kennel and house trained. He runs the other direction when a vacuum, broom, or potential car ride is involved.

Story
Healthy and fully vaccinated. He has been well loved and taken good care of. Briggsley has completed many obedience courses such puppy and level 1&2 training, scenting courses, and off leash course. He is fantastic on road trips and at the dog park. He does very well on leashed walks as well. He loves being with other dogs and is well socialized. This is a working dog that requires a lot of exercise and to be kept busy. He’s is very protective, loyal, goofy, playful, smart, and affectionate. He was raised with 2 small children; however due to his high energy and excitability he gets overwhelmed around small kids. He resource guards with small children and strangers and sadly we can’t keep him because of this. He is fearful and reactive with vets and needs a soft muzzle for vet trips. This dog is incredibly protective of his people, and very affectionate. He likes to be wherever his people are. He deserves a good home.

Story
Daisy came to my house as a puppy very sick. Shelters closed doors to her so I gave her a chance to get her healed so I can look for a home for her. She’s 1 year 7 months old now. I’m not doing good with my health at this moment I just lost my baby and she needs lots of attention and care. She’s very playful, loves kids and other dogs but my dogs don’t like her because she plays rough. I really want her to go to a good home with people with a good heart full of compassion for her. She’s a very smart dog, potty trained outside, kneel trained, she’s an inside dog, she loves play time outside but not for too long. She doesn’t like to share her treats with other dogs so I have to give her her treats separately. She won’t kill a bug she will let you know about the smallest ant by growling at the bug but will jump of scared if she gets closer to it. She’s fun to have around she will make you laugh with her goofy self.

Story
Luna is a 5 year old blue merle full Australian shepherd. Her beautiful blue eyes will melt your heart. I adopted Luna from a couple re-homing her after they had a new baby. I would love to keep Luna, but she and my other Aussie just do not get along. Luna is a high energy girl whose favorite thing on the planet is playing fetch--throw her a ball to chase and you will win her heart in an instant. Luna is shy at first, but once she warms up she is sweet and affectionate, always ready for a tummy rub. Luna would be a great running companion and would likely excel at agility training. She is housebroken and crate trained. All of her vaccines are up to date, including Proheart 12, so she won't need heartworm prevention for another 10 months. Luna would probably fit best in a home where she is the only dog (she was the only dog in her previous home).

Story
Hi, I'm Scout! I'm really shy at first, but it only took me .0003 seconds to warm up and start playing with my big brothers in my foster home. I'm not sure how to play with toys yet, but I definitely like playing tug-of-war with my big brother's fluffy tail. I won't sit still for very long for foster mommy to take photos, but I am learning some commands because I get treats. I'm also learning that we go outside to potty, but I might have some accidents inside because I'm still a baby. I am a very active pup with lots of energy. I like running around, and I'm learning how to dog. I also like cuddling and kisses from mommy because it makes me feel safe. If you adopt me, I promise I'll keep you on your toes and shower you with lots of puppy kisses and puppy breath. Scout is a Female Aussie/Cattle Dog Mix that we estimate to be born around 2/5/24 and as of 4/15, she weighed 12 lbs.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If you are looking for a fun loving girl look no further. You have found her!!!  Abbie is part Border Collie and Part just plain adorable.   She is shy at first but once she warms up is a lover.    Abbie has terrific focus and  will learn very quickly.   She will be a loving companion to anyone needing a cuddle bud.   =========== Please contact  app@aarfhouston.org for more information about this dog. You can apply online by clicking on Application . ADOPTION FEE:  The adoption fee includes vaccinations, bordetella, deworming, rabies, Microchip including a lifetime registration and spay/neuter.   PUPPIES   Texas State law requires that we sterilize any animal adopted through this agency.     This will normally occur between 5 and 6 months at one of our approved veterinarians at the expense of the rescue. Children under 8 years old  often are not a good match for our puppies and dogs.   In order to protect both, your child and our rescued dogs/puppies from harm, we seldom if ever adopt to families with young children. Approval:  You will be notified via email once your application is approved.  Once notified, we will schedule a meet and greet at one of our approved locations.   Thank you for considering a rescue! The adoption fee includes vaccinations, Bordetella, de-worming, rabies, spay/neuter and microchip. There is a an additional $12.99 fee for Home Again for a lifetime registration of the microchip. Puppies cannot be adopted outside of the Houston area until they are spay/neutered after they are 4 months old. It is against the law in the State of Texas for a rescue not to be sterilized so we have to make sure it gets completed and that we have record of it. NOTE: In our bios, we provide information based on our volunteer's experience with a particular dog; such as temperament, training, and ability to get along with others. AARF is a 501(c)3 Non Profit, all breed, no kill organization. Our group is always in need of donations in order to continue to give the needed medical care to our rescues. Adoption fees do not begin to cover all of the medical costs. Any donation , no matter how small is a big help and is greatly appreciated. Please help us to continue to help them. Thank you. Story
Rachel - Border Collie/Lab mix - Female - 4.5 yrs - www.twyla.org If you'd like to know more about this dog please visit our website at www.Twyla.org Meet Rachel: this beautiful, sweet and careful 4.5-year-old Border Collie Lab has returned to us as her needs and her families availability simply grew apart, like it happens sometimes. Rather than fitting a square peg into a round hole, it was determined that Rachel would be happier in a home that can more closely fit her needs. Rachel likes to have something to do, either playing with a toy or one of her dog friends or going for a walk. She seems to have a permanent smile on her face, and loves attention. She can be a little sneaky and will find unsecured garbage cans and unattended food - as she is very smart. She fine with relaxing with her pack after some playtime. Rachel is fine with other dogs and wants to please her humans and loves to cuddle. Rachel does not like to be left alone, and is looking for a home where someone is home a lot and can devote time and energy to her exercise, training and give her the attention and affection she craves. Some dogs handle changes easily, Rachel is not one of them, so an experienced and patience handler is preferred. Rachel would do best in a home with another dog or more than one, she loves kids, is house trained, but does not like to be alone and is not a fan of the crate. She is highly food motivated, which is great for training, is fine in the car, her leash training could use some fine tuning. ***Please note: All dogs are fostered in private homes of volunteers, so to meet a dog please fill out an Adoption Application so we may setup a private meetup with the dog or coordinate for an Introduction at the next general Adoption Meet and Greet, as not all dogs come to all Meet and Greets***
