Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If you are looking for a fun loving girl look no further. You have found her!!!  Abbie is part Border Collie and Part just plain adorable.   She is shy at first but once she warms up is a lover.    Abbie has terrific focus and  will learn very quickly.   She will be a loving companion to anyone needing a cuddle bud.   =========== Please contact  app@aarfhouston.org for more information about this dog. You can apply online by clicking on Application . ADOPTION FEE:  The adoption fee includes vaccinations, bordetella, deworming, rabies, Microchip including a lifetime registration and spay/neuter.   PUPPIES   Texas State law requires that we sterilize any animal adopted through this agency.     This will normally occur between 5 and 6 months at one of our approved veterinarians at the expense of the rescue. Children under 8 years old  often are not a good match for our puppies and dogs.   In order to protect both, your child and our rescued dogs/puppies from harm, we seldom if ever adopt to families with young children. Approval:  You will be notified via email once your application is approved.  Once notified, we will schedule a meet and greet at one of our approved locations.   Thank you for considering a rescue! The adoption fee includes vaccinations, Bordetella, de-worming, rabies, spay/neuter and microchip. There is a an additional $12.99 fee for Home Again for a lifetime registration of the microchip. Puppies cannot be adopted outside of the Houston area until they are spay/neutered after they are 4 months old. It is against the law in the State of Texas for a rescue not to be sterilized so we have to make sure it gets completed and that we have record of it. NOTE: In our bios, we provide information based on our volunteer's experience with a particular dog; such as temperament, training, and ability to get along with others. AARF is a 501(c)3 Non Profit, all breed, no kill organization. Our group is always in need of donations in order to continue to give the needed medical care to our rescues. Adoption fees do not begin to cover all of the medical costs. Any donation , no matter how small is a big help and is greatly appreciated. Please help us to continue to help them. Thank you. Story
Rachel - Border Collie/Lab mix - Female - 4.5 yrs - www.twyla.org If you'd like to know more about this dog please visit our website at www.Twyla.org Meet Rachel: this beautiful, sweet and careful 4.5-year-old Border Collie Lab has returned to us as her needs and her families availability simply grew apart, like it happens sometimes. Rather than fitting a square peg into a round hole, it was determined that Rachel would be happier in a home that can more closely fit her needs. Rachel likes to have something to do, either playing with a toy or one of her dog friends or going for a walk. She seems to have a permanent smile on her face, and loves attention. She can be a little sneaky and will find unsecured garbage cans and unattended food - as she is very smart. She fine with relaxing with her pack after some playtime. Rachel is fine with other dogs and wants to please her humans and loves to cuddle. Rachel does not like to be left alone, and is looking for a home where someone is home a lot and can devote time and energy to her exercise, training and give her the attention and affection she craves. Some dogs handle changes easily, Rachel is not one of them, so an experienced and patience handler is preferred. Rachel would do best in a home with another dog or more than one, she loves kids, is house trained, but does not like to be alone and is not a fan of the crate. She is highly food motivated, which is great for training, is fine in the car, her leash training could use some fine tuning. ***Please note: All dogs are fostered in private homes of volunteers, so to meet a dog please fill out an Adoption Application so we may setup a private meetup with the dog or coordinate for an Introduction at the next general Adoption Meet and Greet, as not all dogs come to all Meet and Greets***

Hi I'm Malibu! I'm all about spreading love and tail wags wherever I roam. Meeting new pals is cool, but I like to take it slow to make sure we vibe together. Once I'm comfy, you'll find me soaking up all the love and belly rubs from my favorite people. Currently in a foster home with my furry friend, living my best dog-friendly life! Story
Rusty is a rescue from a rough neighborhood in South Houston. We believe that he is about 6 years old, but his age may have been determined by his teeth, which may not give an accurate reading as they are quite damaged. He is a good, sweet boy who mostly keeps to himself, but secretly loves attention. He is very loyal and loves to spend time outside. Rusty had stage 3 heartworm when we rescued him, and were not expecting him to survive the treatment. Luckily, he is a very strong dog and pulled through! I love this little guy more than anything, but am having a baby soon and will not be able to give him the love and attention he deserves anymore. Looking for a family who will love him as unconditionally as he will love you!

Story
My adult son (22yr) adopted Brenn from the City Of Baytown Animal Control & Adoption Center, and we have a number of reasons why we are unable to care for her. 1) Our house is on the market to be sold and already in contract and we may need to rent due to affordability. We can not risk landlord issues and/or pet fees. 2) My 14 yr old's asthma was in remission, and he now starting to react to the dog dander. 3) We are inexperienced, and do not know how to acclimate her to his girlfriend's service animal. However, she is very sweet, and mild mannered. Est at 5months. She has had her 2 series of Parvo and is needing her Rabies vaccine, scheduled for 03.27.24. Currently have an appt for her to get Spayed on 04/29/24. She really loves her doggie bed and sleeps most of the night. She was pre-house broken, but she has 1 accident per night, due to our schedule and discipline.

These pups are in Humble, Texas too!

Story
Early 2021, we found a posting about the most adorable fluffy puppies for sale. Oakley was the only one left and we took him home with us. He is a very spirited companion that loves playing fetch and running his little heart out. We had no intentions of ever rehoming one of our dogs, but our situation changed. Our schedules changed, but Oakley has always had anxiety around children and now we have a new growing infant. Oakley needs a home with no small children. Oakley is generally a sweetheart. He loves playing outside, chewing on toys, and receiving some of the attention. He is kennel and house trained. He runs the other direction when a vacuum, broom, or potential car ride is involved.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Do you love to cuddle? I am your gal!Did you see my adorable face?  I am a fun loving girl, who loves to crawl up on my foster mom's lap and cuddle. I play all day with my foster siblings. But if there is a spare lap, I am right there! Did someone say water? How about mud? I have discovered if I get dirty, mom gives me a bath! I love water and especially love it when mom scrubs me with great smelling bubbles and then rubs me dry with a big fluffy towel. I love water! Sometimes I sit in our empty puppy pool just begging mom to fill it up! I am an active dog and not suitable for an apartment, nor small children. I will need another dog in the house to keep me happy.  I am protective of my people, so  proper introductions need to happen to anyone new. AARFhouston.org/forms My litter mates and I were orphaned at two weeks old after our mother died. I love to play with my siblings and foster moms dogs! I would love to have an older sibling in my new home to play with and teach me how to be a well mannered pup! I should be around 30-45 pounds when full grown.  My adoption fee includes four rounds of shots, rabies shots, neuter and microchip (at a regular vet all of these services would cost over $500!)  ========================================================= Please contact app@aarfhouston.org for more information about this dog. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.I am Super smart, fun loving guy who would love to have an active family. I am not an apartment guy! I need to run.Bethoven says: I would make you the happiest family EVER!  I'm super cute, and super happy and super cuddly! I have lots of energy for walks or runs or playing with the hose in the backyard (its like my most favoritest thing).    I would make the most bestest dog brother EVER!  I love to instigate play and would be your bestiest friend! (like 4-ever). You'll never find a better dog brother than I would be! I'm kind of a big boy, and apparently I'm a bit 'oral' Whatever that means *sheesh*. I DON'T bite, NO WAY!  But I've got a lot of puppy still, or so they say... so I like to put my mouth on things, especially when I'm playing.   I really want to find my forever home, my first family really loved me, but had to give me up because my first momma needed to get out of bad situation and the shelter didn't allow me to come.   I'm just know I'll be the bestest dog you've ever had!   aarfhouston.org/forms for an application    Please contact app@aarfhouston.org for more information about this dog.
