Story
English Bulldog Age: 5-6 yrs old Female, Spayed 38 lbs Adoption Fee: $125 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Courtney was found as a stray and turned into the local shelter. She had an abscess on her paw that needed medical attention. Upon evaluation by our vet, it was observed that she also has dry eye syndrome, ectropion eyelids that turn in, but her corneas were in pretty good shape. There were also sutures still in place on her lower abdominal area. The incision was too small for a recent C-section and there were no other signs that she had been recently pregnant (although she has likely had puppies in the past). It could have been from a recent spay, but lab testing indicated that she was still intact. It is a mystery as to why the incision w/ sutures was there. Our vet spayed her and fixed her eyelids. She is on ointment and eye drops for the chronic dry eyes, but it is possible that this will correct itself over time. English bulldogs in general often have LOTS of medical issues. Courtney had some domination issues with the volunteers when she first came to us. After some consistent and stringent correction, that behavior considerably lessened, but she will need to be monitored when meeting strangers. Otherwise, she is very sweet and loves attention. We pulled Courtney at the same time we pulled another English Bulldog, a male named Otis, from the same shelter. We thought that they may have come from the same home and were bonded. They do get along very well and probably bonded in a bulldog breed bonding sort of way. Courtney and Otis need to be adopted together. Please note that we don’t adopt any of our dogs out to homes with children under the age of 13. For more information about Courtney, contact: nobodysperfektdogs@gmail.com

Story
English Bulldog Age: 2 yrs old Male, Neutered 33 lbs Adoption Fee: $125 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Otis was found as a stray and turned into the local shelter. He was pretty healthy, but had a condition called “cherry eye” in both eyes. Our vet attempted to fix both eyes - the success rate for this repair is about 50/50. One eye is healing nicely, the other may not be so lucky, time will tell. Cherry eye is mostly a cosmetic issue, and doesn’t affect their ability to see. English bulldogs in general often have LOTS of medical issues. The only other observable condition, so far, is a flea allergy. Otis had a lot of energy, a lot of humping and marking before he was neutered. Within a week following surgery, there was a big difference in his behavior. He is young and still energetic at times, but he is also very sweet and loves to cuddle. We pulled Otis at the same time we pulled another English Bulldog, a female named Courtney, from the same shelter. We thought that they may have come from the same home and were bonded. They do get along very well and probably bonded in a bulldog breed bonding sort of way. Courtney and Otis need to be adopted together. Story
Hello world, I’m Cheesecake—yes, like the dessert, and just as sweet (with a little bit of sass)! I’m a squishy-faced, wiggly-bummed English Bulldog, around 5 or 6 years young, and I’m currently accepting applications for my forever snuggle squad. My vibe? Think: spa day every day. I’m all about the chill life—sunbathing like a pro, gnawing on my favorite tough toys, and drifting into the kind of naps dreams are made of (bonus points if I get to snore like a tiny freight train). Now, I do come with a shy side, especially when meeting new folks—men in particular can take me a little longer to warm up to. But give me time, patience, and a consistent routine, and BAM! I’ll be your ride-or-die couch buddy. I’m looking for a low-key, introvert-friendly household where people get my need for space and slow introductions. I’m cool with mellow doggie roommates as long as we meet politely and don’t rush into anything serious (boundaries, people!). Crate life? Oh, I LOVE it. My crate is my personal zen den—safe, structured, and 100% Cheesecake-approved. I’ve also got 12 weeks of professional training under my (adorable) belt thanks to Lee Johnson of BeSpokeK9, and I come with a lifetime membership to the Cheesecake Glow-Up Club: Ongoing group classes 1:1 training sessions Boarding options Priority swimming pool access (yes, I have pool perks!) And support from my trainer for life—shoutout to @boooshank on Instagram! So, what do you say? Ready to add a little bulldog magic to your life? I’m currently being fostered in Novato, CA, and would love to meet you. If you’re into soulful eyes, a snuggly squish, and a pup who’s working hard to be her best self, I’m your girl. Apply to adopt me at www.californiabullyrescue.org/adopt. I’ll be waiting (probably napping, but still waiting).

Story
French Bulldog Age: 2-3 yrs old Female, spayed 24 lbs Adoption Fee: Donation (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Mary Lou was brought to the Stockton shelter by someone who said they “found her.” The “finder” thought that maybe she had been hit by a car, which is why she didn’t have any use of her back legs? However, there were no signs of trauma. Given her breed and that she was obviously used for breeding with no signs of ever having a C-section, it is likely that she injured her back giving natural puppy birth (French Bulldogs require C-section surgery to safely birth puppies, but there are a lot of unscrupulous backyard breeders just trying to make a buck and taking shortcuts - leaving the dogs to suffer. Many of the dogs we work with that have no use of their back legs recover to some degree with work. Mary Lou hasn’t made much progress in this area, so will likely be a paraplegic dog for the remainder of her life. She prefers to drag the hind legs behind her, rather than using a cart. And because she doesn’t have use of her back legs, pee and pooping has it’s challenges, as well. In addition to no use of her back legs, she does have some medical conditions that are common to the bulldog breed (allergies, ear infections, and the occasional urinary tract infections associated with her urinary challenges). * * * * STOP BREEDING BULLDOGS!!!! * * * * Mary Lou qualifies for our “permanent foster” program where we support her vet needs for the remainder of her life (as long as she is fostered/adopted locally). On the other hand, she is super, super sweet. She loves everyone: humans and canines (and maybe cats? Not sure). She needs a home with no stairs, and where someone is home most of the time. She would prefer a home with another friendly dog. For more information about Mary Lou, contact nobodysperfektdogs@gmail.com

Not good with kids, Good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs special attention, Needs experienced adopter, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
French Bulldog Age: 2-3 yrs old Female, Spayed 18 lbs Adoption Fee: Donation (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Francine was brought to the Oakland Shelter as a stray. During the intake process, shelter staff noticed fecal and urine “leakage.” Upon examination, Francine was diagnosed with sacrocaudal dysgenesis, a common condition in dogs bred with no tails (pugs, bulldogs, Corgis, etc.) The tail isn’t allowed to fully form resulting in defects such as incontinence (bowel and urinary). Unfortunately, Francine is incontinent, requiring her to wear diapers while in the house. Our experienced foster homes are happy to consult with prospective adopters in the proper care of an incontinent dog. With the proper materials and routine, caring for an incontinent dog is fairly easy. She also had a “cherry eye” which was repaired during her spay surgery. Otherwise, Francine is a friendly, loyal, playful, confident dog. At the adoption center she wants attention from everyone who visits. She lives in a foster home with another French bulldog (who is available for adoption from another rescue group), and they get along very well, However, being a “bully” breed, she can be a little bit of a bully with smaller dogs and cats. For more information about Francine, you email us at: nobodysperfektdogs@gmail.com
