Story
5 years old, 30 pounds Personality: outgoing, affectionate, quiet, calm, trustworthy, gentle, snuggler, eager-to-please, easygoing, loyal, energetic, affectionate, goofy, funny, patient, and playful. Meet the marvelous Melba, whose trademarks are not only a unique look but also a wonderfully affectionate and easygoing nature. Is Melba being grumpy in her photos? Not at all! She just has the most incredible underbite you’ve ever seen. In fact, all you need to do is smile at her and her whole body will wag. Melba is crate trained, knows the word “stop,” and has shown gentle manners when meeting new people. She loves walks outside and will wait patiently while you put on her harness or jacket. Melba is happy to play by herself or with other dogs, both on and off leash. And while she occasionally partakes in that trademark beagle awooo, she is more often a quiet, reserved pup. Melba is making good progress with house training, and she’s so eager to please that when you celebrate, she’ll go absolutely bonkers right along with you. When she wants a snuggle, she’ll thump her tail on the sofa to warn of incoming cuteness. Does this funny, gentle gal sound like a good fit for your home? Apply today to meet Melba! ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. Story
Viola is a beautiful soul that we think is about 3 year old  and a Beagle mix girl. This black and white beauty with adorable speckled legs and a sweet She only weighs 20 lbs and has the sweetest smile and absolutely loves people. She was found as a stray that was taken to the shelter very scared and almost shutdown while there. Her human mother died and Viola is now 5 years old. Unfortunately we don’t really know her story, but we feel there is some trauma there in her past. It takes her a little bit to get used to people and even longer for dogs. She wants a safe place to observe (wire crate suggested)  till she figures it out. Her foster kept her behind a gate and her bed was her safe place. For a few days she would growl through the gate at the other dogs but after that it was over. We would leave the gate open and she would venture out and if she got nervous she would go back to her safe place. She is never ugly to the other dogs at her foster and  if one of the Chihuahuas was mean to her,  she just ignored her. We have her using puppy pads because there is  no fenced yard. Viola would definetly need a fenced yard so she can safely explore and have potty breaks. The outdoors makes her nervous still. She loves her people immensely and adores  kids but older ones are best.  If you want to help and REALLY rescue a dog them Viola would be forever indebted to you.    If you are interested please email at ccrtennessee@gmail.com    PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comNovember 29, 2025, 1:51 pm

This adorable beagle mix (best guess) has already overcome more than most puppies ever should. Angel was rescued from an extremely overcrowded shelter in Georgia and went on to beat parvo, a virus that is often fatal to puppies. She has made a full recovery and is now healthy, happy, and thriving — ready to start the life she deserves. Angel is a sweet, loving, and playful young pup who enjoys being around people and loves other dogs. She has that classic puppy joy for life and is eager to learn, making her the perfect age for training and socialization. Whether it’s playtime, cuddle time, or learning new things, Angel is all in. Now all she’s missing is a family to call her own. If you’re looking for a resilient little pup with a heart of gold, Angel may be the one for you.
