I'm Pup Sammy. I was found as a stray and brought to an overcrowded shelter in Georgia. I came here with my pals, Olive and Hazel. Luckly, I landed in a foster home for now, and here's what my great foster mom says about me: "Sammy is a fun-loving, out-going basset, beagle, and hound mix. He is a stunning puppy who is the perfect mix of playful and snuggly. He is about five months old and around 30 lbs. He is tall, but very lean. Sammy loves to romp around the yard and play with a ball. He enjoys falling asleep in your lap while you rub his belly. Sammy seems to love bones and treats. He loves his dry kibbles. He does well walking on his leash. A fenced yard would be great for Sammyl, but is not a requirement as long as you have a long leash to allow him to run a bit each day. He likes to be where the people are, but sleeps quietly in his kennel. Sammy would do well as an only pet or with a doggie sibling. He is learning how to play with others and we are working on his jumping up. He just loves to let his people know how much he enjoys them. He does not seem to mind his cat siblings. Sometimes he wants to play with them, but is not aggressive. He is doing well on potty training and only had two accidents. Sammy seems very smart and should be a fun puppy to work with." Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family. Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets.
