Story
Maverick has been part of our family for 5 years now. A true snuggle bug with a great personality. He is a very anxious boy when no one is home and because of his anxiety, he can be a bit unpredictable at times and with a new baby on the way, we can’t take the risk. We want to find him a home where he will be so loved. This is very hard for us so finding him a perfect fit is top priority.

Story
This handsome little guy has had a wonderful start to life in foster care. Introducing our sweetest classical music lover Victor ‍ Victor has spent his puppyhood with his mama while also getting lots of love, handling and socialization from his foster family. He is learning all about crate training, routines and the basics that help turn a wiggly little puppy into a great canine citizen. Like any young pup, he’s looking for a family who understands that puppies are adorable AND a little bit of work There will be puppy antics, training, socialization, exercise and lots of learning along the way. But if you’re ready to put in the time now, you’ll get to watch Victor grow into your very own best friend. And that’s pretty special. dob @ 6/23/26 medium to lg size puppy  Young, active & playful puppy Dog friendly Being crate trained Lots of handling & socialization Ready for a family committed to all things PUPPY ready for adoption 9/23 apply today!Applications on our website @ galsbestpal.com Interested in adopting a GBP rescue dog? Story
LATTE   If you’re looking for a sweet little sidekick to join you for fall walks, weekend adventures and cozy nights at home… Latte might just be your guy.  Latte came into a high-intake shelter as an owner surrender alongside another dog. In a place that felt completely foreign, the two found comfort in each other… and, naturally, in treats. Since leaving the shelter, Latte has continued showing us just how much he LOVES having dog friends around. He really looks to other dogs for confidence, and we would love to find him a home with a friendly canine sibling who can help show him the ropes as he continues learning all about this New England life. And can we talk about his SIZE?! At right around 22 lbs, Latte is that perfect not-too-small, definitely-not-too-big size. Basically built to tag along. He’s a really nice mix of playful + chill, has a medium energy level, and LOVES his toys. He’s doing well in his crate and getting more confident walking on leash every day. Give this boy a little time and we have a feeling he’ll be strutting down the sidewalk next to his person like he owns the place. Latte is still figuring out this big new world, but with a little patience, encouragement and a friendly dog buddy by his side, we think he’s going to absolutely BLOOM. Around 22 lbs - DOB @ 7/13/24 Dog friendly + LOVES dog friends Would love a canine sibling Medium energy Doing well with crate training Making progress on leash ready for forever 9/23 Interested in adopting a GBP rescue dog? Story
**Please read Barney's entire profile, which includes a link to the adoption application. Thank you!** Meet Barney, a 5-year-old Walker Coonhound / Beagle mix, weighing 55 pounds (as of 2/7/26). A sweet lady saved this angel from wandering the streets of North Carolina and brought him to us. Barney is sight impaired (though not blind) so surviving that long on his own is a true to testament to this boy's resilience! He's a miracle in every sense of the word and deserves, the best, more caring home to feel safe! Barney is a super sweet and very affectionate boy. In fact, when he was rescued by the random lady that found him, he slept with his head on her shoulder all night to say "thank you." This boy LOVES to be close to his people. We're not just talking sleeping next to you, either. He will fully lay on you! And guess what? You'll let him. Why get out of bed when you have this lover boy giving you a big hug every morning? Barney is great with every dog he meets, though sometimes he might feel vulnerable because of his eyesight. He'll occasionally get scared when bumping into things, but he hopes that after he gets adjusted to your home, he'll learn the lay of the land. Barney is also good with cats as the woman who rescued him had cats. While he only spent one night with the cats, Barney got the hang of being around them. Barney has only met kids on outings, but hopes to charm them too! Because of his eyesight, Barney loves interactive toys that make noise, so he asks that you pretty please be creative when it comes to helping him adjust in your home! He's good on a leash and is fine being crated (in fact, he eats in his crate). He currently hasn't had any accidents at his foster's house, but Barney asks for grace as he adjusts to the potty rules of your home. He doesn't know any commands currently, but if you're open to teaching, he's open to learning! Just remember to have patience with him. As Barney always says, Rome wasn't built in a day! When it comes to his medical history, Barney has Lyme disease due to the number of ticks that were on him when he was first found. Lyme disease has affected his kidneys, so he's currently on a vet-approved special diet that includes Doxycycline, Benazepril and other kidney supplements to help him. His foster has helped do bloodwork several times and his last kidney results showed improvements! Go Barney! He will need to stay on a special renal diet and Benazepril for the rest of his life; Barney hopes his future family will be there to help. Despite all the odds, Barney is still pushing forward! He's looking for his next guardian angel and hope it'll be you! Adopt this miracle boy today! All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be. To adopt or learn more about Harper Lee, you must fill out an adoption application. To find the application, copy and paste this URL into your browser: WWW.GDRNE.COM/ADOPTION-APPLICATION [Adoption Fee: $495] ** This dog is currently out of state but will be transported to New England shortly with no additional travel costs. The long distance adoption process includes talking to the foster they are living with in the south. Roughly 90% of our dogs are successfully long distance adopted and 10% adopted locally. PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted. Story
Bobbie Blue is a sweet and sociable little bluetick Beagle. He makes friends easily and does well around other dogs both big and small. Bobby loves to romp and play outside and will amuse himself with his toys. He's a champion cuddler and likes to sit with his people on the sofa. His favorite place is wherever you are. Bobbie sleeps through the night quietly in his crate, he's housebroken, and doesn't chew things. He enjoys a leashed walk but can pull a bit when he's excited. Bobbie Blue is an easy keeper and will be a loving companion. Bobbie is about 3-4 yrs old and weighs about 30 lbs. He has arrived in Massachusetts and is available for visits on Cape Cod.
