Story
Cutie pie right here!! Sofia is a happy, playful gal once she knows you. She also has the classic beagle conversational skills and is happy to use them when she`s looking for attention, so her adopters should make sure they and their neighbors have a sense of humor about beagle speak. Sofia will need time to adjust to her new family and this is best accomplished by giving her plenty of time with just household members and not expecting her to meet extended family or friends for awhile. She may be able to join a home with another similarly sized, mellow dog. Sofia can potentially live with a cat that doesn`t want to interact too much with her, this would require well managed slow introductions. Any kid in the family should be older and be able to consistently respect Sofia`s need for time and her own space, especially when she first comes home. If this good girl might be for you, please stop by the shelter to chat with staff. Tuesday-Sunday 12-3p

Story
Kirby was found stray in rural Virginia with two other puppies. He's really sweet and friendly, but does get nervous with introductions to new people. He is having a great time playing with toys and other dogs in his foster home. While he loves his playtime, Kirby is pretty mellow for a puppy. He is a big fan of couch snuggling, enjoys being held, and is doing well in a crate. Kirby is also well on his way to being house broken. Kirby has an injury to his head and back that went untreated. It has healed, but scar tissue has formed preventing hair growth. We think it gives him character and makes him look even more adorable! Kirby’s adult weight is expected to be about 25 - 30 lbs. Kirby is being fostered southwest of Boston and is available for visits.

Story
Sailor is one of the nearly 100 dogs and puppies seized in an alleged cruelty case at a high-volume breeder in Hertford County, North Carolina back in May. Sailor is 1.5 years old and likely born on the property. She weighs 43 lbs, up from 26 when she was rescued. She LOVES other dogs and is very playful. However, she is a little shy with people. Her love of treats has gone a long way to helping her get comfortable with people and is now accepting petting and learning to walk on a leash. This super sweet girl just needs a chance to learn to trust and feel what it’s like to be loved. Sailor is expected to come to Massachusetts by the end of the month. If you are interested in the cruelty case she was a part of, here is a link to the Humane Society’s Press Release from May. https://www.humanesociety.org/news/nearly-100-dogs-and-puppies-rescued-alleged-cruelty-high-volume-breeder-no-place-puppy-north

Story
Frick is a 1 yr old, 26 lb, sweet lemon beagle from the south. He is curious about the world and gaining more confidence every day to investigate in his foster home. He really enjoys the company of other dogs and playing in the yard. Frick has even been playful and gentle with a 2 lb foster puppy! He recently had a great time at a Halloween party. Frick is a smart boy and quickly learning how to walk on leash! He doesn’t mind being held and seems to take comfort in it. His ideal home would be with a confident dog to show him the ropes, a family with children 10 years or older, and someone who has time and is home a lot to continue his progress in learning about the world around him. Frick is fostering North of Boston and is available for visits.

Story
Meet Bentley! A 3 years old, 23 pounds, formerly stray beagle boy with a lot of good energy. Bentley was hanging around with another beagle looking for some attention at a bus stop - they were very friendly! Bentley's ideal home would have another playful dog, a fenced in yard to run around in, and someone willing to give him regular walks. Bentley will be arriving in MA early November.

Story
Frack is a 1 year old, 24 lb, sweet lemon beagle from the south. He has made so much progress since arriving at his foster home in September. He LOVES the other dogs and is happiest when he is outside running around with them. He gets so excited and runs so fast that he trips over his own legs and tumbles! He doesn’t skip a beat though, hopping right back up and joining the fray again! When inside he loves snuggling with the pack. He has adjusted to the routine in his foster home and hasn’t had an accident inside in a few weeks. Frack is still very wary of humans, although he seems to enjoy being petted. He does best when approached in his safe spot on the sofa. He is beginning to take treats and really loves vanilla ice cream! Frack sleeps in bed with his foster family and sometimes snuggles up to a human although he most often is snuggled up to another dog. At least one other dog in his adoptive home is important for him, because he takes comfort and courage from them. Frack is learning to be comfortable on a leash, but is not quite there yet. He will need a patient adopter to allow him time to get comfortable in his new home and continue his leash training. His ideal home would be with a confident dog to show him the ropes, a quiet family with children 13 years or older, and someone who is home a lot so that he can continue to gain confidence around people and the world around him. Frack is being fostered south of Boston and is available for visits.
