Story
Emoji - The Little Gentleman's Story Meet Emoji, a 2.5-month-old, 7-lb sweetheart with the softest little soul.

Emoji and his siblings were abandoned on a busy beach in Puerto Rico filled with feral dogs, where they survived by hiding under rocks for nearly two weeks before finally being rescued. It’s hard to imagine such tiny babies trying to stay safe all alone.

Because of everything he’s been through, Emoji can be a little shy at first — but once he feels safe, all he wants is his people. He is incredibly cuddly, gentle, and affectionate, happiest curled up close beside you soaking up love and reassurance. He has a quiet sweetness about him that completely melts your heart. The shy ones are the best ones in our opinion!

Emoji is finally learning what safety and kindness feel like, and now he’s looking for a forever family who will give him the secure, loving life he has always deserved.

Story
Meet Gunner, a 5-month-old, 22-lb sweetheart with the gentlest heart. Gunner was dumped at a construction site in Puerto Rico, surrounded by loud, scary machines and chaos. Terrified, he hid inside a storage container just trying to stay safe. Thankfully, rescuers found him before something terrible happened. Because of his rough start, Gunner can be a little shy at first — but it is more of a docile tentativeness as he is still incredibly loving and affectionate. He absolutely loves to snuggle and melts into you when give him belly rubs. Underneath his timid side is a soft, sweet puppy who just wants comfort, kindness, and someone to trust. Gunner also has a tiny little club foot, but vets say it is completely fine and purely cosmetic — it doesn’t slow him down one bit and there is nothing medically wrong with him. If anything, it just makes him look like he’s salsa dancing when he walks, which honestly makes him even more adorable. Now Gunner is ready for a forever home where he can continue building confidence, soaking up love, and finally experience the safe, happy puppyhood he always deserved.

Story
Tag is a sweet, friendly, cautious beagle. She LOVES other dogs, taking comfort and confidence from them whether it be playing at the dog park, saying hi on walks or snuggling with her two foster sisters. She enjoys her daily walks, is housetrained and rides well in a car. Tag feels most at ease with women and dogs showing her fun, playful, affectionate sides. When men are nearby she is much more reserved and cautious. That doesn’t stop her from sleeping in bed with her foster parents though. This sweet girl will need extra time to get adjusted to a new home, but once she does, she will thrive. Tag is being fostered in the Boston area and is available for visits.

Story
Bonnie has come a long way from her days in an outdoor kennel with little human contact. Now she enjoys daily walks and the comfort of a cozy home. Though still timid and shy, she’s open to love and affection, needing plenty of time to settle into new surroundings and meet new people. Once she feels safe, she eagerly seeks snuggles and attention. She does best with women, gentle movements, and people who crouch to her level, and can be startled by unfamiliar noises. Bonnie loves relaxing on the sofa and sleeping in bed with her people. She gets along well with other dogs, has medium energy, and is housetrained. At about 6 years old and 39 lbs, she’s perfect for adopters who can give her the time and space to adjust at her own pace. In return, they’ll gain a loving and affectionate companion. She’s currently being fostered in the Boston area and is available for visits.

Story
Rex is a 3 1/2-year-old Beagle/Australian Shepherd mix who is ready to find his forever home. Rex forms deep bonds with his person and is incredibly loving once he feels safe and comfortable. He isn’t the kind of dog for everyone—but for the right person and in the right environment, he will be a very loyal and devoted companion. Rex needs to be with an experienced human, preferably with some experience with herding breeds. This is not a beginner dog. He needs someone committed to providing structure, ongoing training and both mental and physical motivation. He needs an adult-only, pet-free home where he is the sole focus, and his boundaries are consistently understood and respected. Experience handling resource guarding would be helpful. Rex needs time to build trust with his human. His forever family will need to be dog savvy, understanding the importance of respecting his boundaries and recognizing the subtle cues a dog gives when it's uncomfortable, to avoid pushing him beyond his comfort level. Rex appreciates having his personal space honored, especially when resting, so it's imperative that he is the one who approaches for affection, not the other way around. The reward for your restraint is that when he comes to you, it's because he truly wants that connection. He needs a home where he is allowed to settle in at his own pace and where the humans possess the self-control to let Rex truly learn to trust - even if it takes months or years. His people must understand that they can't let their guard down after a couple of weeks. His affection and approach don’t mean you're in the clear. It means he's starting to trust. A pattern of slow, clear, consistent interactions with him combined with structure and predictability will help the trust grow and strengthen. We believe that with an owner who is serious about building a relationship with him, he will be able to trust and will be a great dog. He's done very well with a foster who has worked with him in this way, so we know he's capable.
