Lulu is a sweet 3-1/2 year old with classic Beagle traits. She is curious and enthusiastic when meeting new people (kids!) and dogs. Lulu loves the outdoors, sniffing her way around the yard and chasing balls, while keeping an eye on her person. She's happy to plop down in the grass or on the patio for some sunbathing. Lulu isn't the greatest about walking on a leash, but she's eager to go! When Lulu sees her leash and an open car door, she thinks "Yay, we're going for a ride!" and jumps right in. As a treat-motivated Beagle, Lulu carries a few extra pounds. Lulu is house-trained and crate-trained, and sleeps great through the night. She likes her daytime naps and wakes up refreshed and happy to see her person. Lulu would welcome an additional human or house-dog to interact with.If you have a comfy space, good yard for exploring, and time to enjoy Lulu, she will quickly love you and your family! Lulu will bring along her familiar dog pillow-bed, crate, and a few toys to move right in!

He is a 1 year old beagle. Jake came to OBHR from a local shelter. We know from his foster that he his house broken and crate trained and good with both a young and older dog, but he is a young and active guy so another young dog and active family will be best for this beagle boy! He will require a home with a fenced in yard and his adoption fee is $300. He is currently being fostered in Columbus. He has not been cat tested but we do know…no farm animals! He is NOT chicken friendly. Let’s just say that’s why this sweet boy found his way to rescue! But that’s ok Jake! We will find you a home with no chickens! Adoption Process: To meet one our dogs you must first fill out our application on our website ohiobassetrescue.com. Once submitted one of our volunteers will reach out to you. Upon approval you will be given an approval code to email us at ohbassetrescue@yahoo.com. Approvals are good for 6 months for any current or future dogs. After 6 months you will be directed to fill out an updated application. Please note we only process applications where the adopter lives in OH, IN, KY, PA, WV, lower MI. Adopters must be willing to travel to meet the dog they are adopting. Dogs locations are listed on their profile description on our website. Dogs are NOT all located in Brookville, that is our mailing address. Please understand we are all volunteers and will respond as soon as we can as we all have jobs and family obligations. Meet Bruce! Bruce is a classic beagle mix with a big voice and an even bigger heart. He's a chatty little guy who isn't shy about letting you know when he wants company- and honestly, he just wants to be close to his people as much as possible. After being abandoned in his previous home, Bruce has developed some separation anxiety, so he's hoping to find a dedicated companion who can give him the love and reassurance he deserves. Bruce is incredibly affectionate and full of personality. On walks, he may pause just to give you a hug as if to say, "thank you for being here". He's not a fan of cats due to his strong prey drive and we're still learning how he feels about other dogs- though he does appear to be a bit jealous when he sees them heading out for adventures without him! This determined little guy has even been spotted climbing over shorter fences in search for snuggles, proving just how committed he is to finding his person. Despite being treated for a skin infection from the condition he was found in, Bruce remains cheerful and loving. He keeps his kennel very tidy and treats his blankets with care like the good boy he is. Bruce can be a bit particular about his food but have some cheese and you'll have his attention. If you are looking for a loyal and affectionate companion who will keep you smiling Bruce is ready to meet you! Bruce also says no cats in his home please. Hi I'm Merlin! I'm a little shy but once you get to know me I'm as sweet as can be. I'm around 6 years old and 45 lbs, and I would do best with a simple, routine life without too much excitement. In fact, I could spend almost all day on the couch with my head on your shoulder. I am vision impaired but once you help me learn where everything is, I do just fine navigating on my own- I'm even crate trained and enjoy having a crate as my "home base". I am perfect with cats and dogs, and would really love a dog friend to help me continue building my confidence. I do need a fenced in yard at my forever home, being on leash is tough for me until I feel super safe and secure. If you're a homebody with a little bit of patience and a gentle soul, I would be the perfect companion for you and I am sure to give you all the love you'll ever need. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter.
