BEAN NEEDS A FOSTER OR ADOPTER BY OCTOBER 3 TO SECURE HER RIDE TO WISCONSIN Bean is currently in a Georgia shelter and needs a FOSTER or ADOPTER to secure her spot on the transport to Cedarburg, WI with Mutt Life Dog Rescue on Saturday, October 3. A committed home is required for her to make the trip, and we’re hopeful the right person is out there. Meet Bean Bean is a 7-year-old, 55-pound girl who is looking for someone to love on her during her golden years. She came to the shelter as an owner surrender and, honestly, this sweet girl just seems a little sad. If Eeyore was a dog, he’d be Bean. Bean is a pretty easygoing, easy-keeper kind of girl. She gets along well with most dogs she has been introduced to, although there are definitely a few dogs she has decided she does NOT like. When she does find a dog she likes, she enjoys playing and can play rough and loud! Overall, though, Bean is a chill girl who would love nothing more than to have a person of her own to give her some love, attention, and a comfortable place to spend her golden years. Bean is not good with cats, so she will need a cat-free home. Elliott is a gentle soul. He loves snacks, tug toys, and chin scratches. Elliott is working through some anxiety about being outside and in unfamiliar spaces. He needs a family that is equally gentle and willing to move at his pace. Elliott is intelligent, curious, and playful at heart, and enjoys partaking in puppy antics (especially with his foster brothers) in spaces where he feels comfortable. Elliott would do best with another calm and confident dog in the home to help him blossom. His family will need to continue potty, crate, and leash training using positive reinforcement. Alfie is work in progress. He is by far the most shut down and anxious out of all his foster siblings. He is looking for a VERY special family that is willing to put in the time and patience to ensure he learns that the world isn't scary at his own pace. Alfie is about 1.5 years old and weighs about 25lb. His family will need to be prepared to continue work on potty, leash, and crate training using positive reinforcement. Alfie gets along with other dogs with proper introductions, and hasn't yet met kids or cats. He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and on monthly preventatives. Alfie's family must have a fully fenced, secure yard as he is a flight risk. They must also have at least one confident dog that can continue to show him the ropes. Kids must be over 12 and respectful. Loud noises and sudden movements spook him. Finally, his family must be experienced dog owners. Alfie is making huge strides every day, and he's looking for a family that will take those same strides with him, at his pace. Please note: Our beagles are former lab dogs. If you've been looking for your shadow, we found it! Elmer wants absolutely nothing more than being close to his humans. He loves following you to the kitchen and the bathroom, and he loves settling in for a good snuggle even more. If you're really lucky, he'll even snore into your ear. Elmer has made such a huge transition since moving into foster, it's hard to recognize him. He spent the first five days hiding under a raised dog bed, and slowly but surely made his way out into the world, to the point where he now runs around freely with his foster siblings. He's still a nervous guy, but he is so resilient and wants so badly to live comfortably in our world. Elmer is about 25lb, 1.5 years old, and loves hard. He loves chewing on a good bone, but snuggling up on the couch is his favorite. He's also a great dancer and will stand on his back two legs, waving his paws for you to catch. Elmer's family should be prepared to continue working on potty, leash, and crate training. He gets along with other dogs with appropriate introductions, and has not yet met kids or cats. He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and on monthly preventatives. He would benefit from being in a home with another confident canine companion, though this is not a requirement for the right fit. Please note: Our beagles are former lab dogs. Before you apply, make sure you do your research and understand what that will mean when bringing them home (we're going to ask!). These dogs will need time, patience, and positive reinforcement while they learn to exist in our world.
