Story
The very best way to describe Maddie is in a few, yet very strong, adjectives! HAPPY! SMART! OUTGOING! SUPER SOCIABLE! Now for the smaller but equally as important adjectives. Maddie is house trained. She walks beautifully on leash! She loves children learns VERY quickly! She's kennel trained and she loves other dogs! In other words.... SHE'S PERFECT!! Her foster mom and dad, Katie and Taylor, ADORE HER! Maddie is with them in their home in Memphis, Tn. Once adopted, she will travel on Rescue Vet Transport to her new forever family. The transport company runs each weekend to the north east, delivering dogs as far north as West Greenwich, Rhode Island, leaving Memphis, Tennessee, Friday mornings around 6 AM and starting a group chat with all the doctors and the two drivers. Transport is an additional $185. You will find our volunteer team to be very responsive so please refrain from submitting your application until you're ready to welcome your new forever buddy! https://forms.gle/APKvbgFJcaRvgKgk9

If you have room in your heart and your home for these wonderful dogs, please fill out the pre-adoption application to meet them and make them part of your family! We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $450 for most adults and up to $650 for puppies which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $75 (up to $230 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $75 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS July 26, 2024, 3:59 pm

Story
· Intake Reason: transferred from Louisiana; Returned to WCHS due to not being good with the other dogs in the homeKnown with:· Cats: unknown· Dogs: Not reactive but not a fan of dogs in her space and should be the only dog in the home· Kids: previously lived with 5 yr old and did well· Personality: playful & outgoing, will take treats gentlyWeight: 45 lbsHello, I'm Dolly and I am sweet, adorable and charming. I originally came to WCHS from an over-crowded shelter in Louisiana, so I am a little southern belle. I was adopted by a very nice family who already had two other female pooches; they were mature like me. We tried to make it work, but after about a month it was clear that I was not happy living with the other dogs; I just did not like them getting in my space. So, to keep peace in the household, we all agreed that it was best I come back to WCHS to find a more suitable home. There was a 5-year-old child in the home and she was a blast; I did really well with her because I am a real fan of humans. When the people left and the pups needed to hold down the fort, I had a cozy little crate that I could relax in; it had a comfy bed and a blanket over the top of it so I could snooze in tranquility. At night when it was bedtime I could roam freely about the house and find a nice spot to get my zzz's. In my previous home I learned to run to the door and bark at my people to let them know I needed to go outside. When I get to my new place it would be wise to give me plenty of opportunities to use the outside facilities until we learn each other's signals and routines. Speaking of barking, in the spirit of full disclosure I feel I must tell you that I believe one of my jobs is to inform you of all that is happening around me. If I see wildlife outside, I think I should tell you about it; if we are out and about, I may be chatty because I like to talk to my humans. I do my best to communicate with you and my mode of communication is barking. That is why I would not be a good fit for communal living. I am friendly, playful and smart. I thoroughly enjoy a walk to explore all that Mother Nature has to offer; I feel it is important to get both physical and mental exercise each day. I am a smart girl and know the cue for ‘sit' and think it would be lovely to learn more words from you. I have a spectacular schnoz and would enjoy using a foraging mat or participating in nose work. I am not a fan of car rides because I get a little anxious and pant and whine. Perhaps we can work on me being more comfortable by taking some short car rides together to go to fun places like a park where we can walk or even a store to buy me a treat or toy. I am affectionate and think long snuggle sessions after a fun-filled day are a wonderful way to spend an evening. Just like the fun-loving character in the musical, I'm still glowin', I'm still crowin', I'm still goin' strong. I hope I sound like the kind of gal that would fit nicely in your family; I would love for you to stop by to meet me.#1

Story
Meet Hazel! Are you seeking just the right blend of fun and cuddles? Search no more! Miss Hazel, here is a senior lady, but she’s playful and curious and engaged…which makes us think she’s perfect! Hazel loves attention and will ask politely to be lifted onto the couch or bed. If you talk to her but don’t lift her, she’ll bark just to be sure that you understand what’s going on here. She wants to be wherever you are, but her short little legs and loooong body make jumping difficult. Luckily, she's just a small 22 pounds. She settles right in for a nap after playtime or a walk, and will sleep as long as you will at night, curled up in the bend of your knee. She has not had any accidents in the house, but her foster takes her out after she sleeps and after playtime. Hazel plays a little rough and likes to trade toys with you rather than just give them up, so perhaps older children would be the best fit. She gets along well with other dogs, and she likes her walks, but let’s keep them shorter, please. Those little legs work hard to get her down the lane! She settles into the car once she finds her comfy spot and will watch the world go by through the window or enjoy a chew stick while you chauffeur her around town. Hazel prefers not to be left alone and will show her displeasure by barking for a few minutes after the door closes, so apartment living may not be her jam. She will rest quietly after a few minutes and await your return, which she will celebrate with wiggles and smiles, and happy little grunts! Hazel could live with a cat that would stand their ground with her, but its best if she doesn’t live with them, as she really enjoy chasing them when they move. If you want a sweet, curious, playful dog who just wants to be your best friend, Hazel is the gal for you! *Hazel is being fostered in Fredonia, WI. Story
Odie was adopted by me as a puppy, now 12 yrs old he was left outside in a shed by himself until I got him always had separation anxiety, but also a extremely loving, good boy. Loves to cuddle, he just needs alot of attention and love. Loves food and will swipe it out of your hands, so watch that lol, in general a very sweet, loving boy that just thrives on attention, he loves kids and other dogs, needs someone who can provide him with a good home with someone that's is a homebody, short periods of time alone is fine but he just doesn't like being alone for long periods, bottom line is he is the sweetest, loving boy you'll ever meet and will give you tons of love and companionship🐾
