Story
Animal Profile: Bodhi is an estimated 2-year-old, 75-pound Doberman Shepherd or possibly Beauceron mix. This guy is full of spunk and loves to play. Sadly, Bodhi found himself at risk in an overcrowded shelter simply because there wasn’t enough space.  Foster Update: Bodhi is a smart, biddable, confident and fun dog. He loves to play -- fetch, tug, wrestling, doesn't matter -- and work. He truly enjoys obedience training, and structured play is a great way to fill his cup. He is fully crate trained and house-trained and has great dog social skills with both large and small dogs. He has not been evaluated with cats and we would require cat testing prior to placement.  Bodhi is a guardian breed mix and absolutely needs a knowledgeable owner who can provide him leadership and structure, as well as enforce boundaries. Without this relationship dynamic, Bodhi is pushy with his people, and territorial to newcomers. WIth the right relationship dynamic, Bodhi is biddable with his person and accepting of new people. Bodhi will do best with an intentional owner who wants to do stuff with him (versus as a hang around the house, kind of pet) although Bodhi does absolutely have a chill setting and is not hyperactive in the home.  He runs well on a leash and goes on regular 3-mile runs with a volunteer. He knows sit, down -- with implied stays -- recalls with distractions, and walks nicely on leash. He is absolutely a lot of dog and a "dog person" will truly appreciate him. He would be too much for a first time or inexperienced dog owner.  Adopter Profile: Single family residence required No apartments or condos Fenced yard preferred (not required) Other dogs OK but not required Cats considered with evaluation Large breed experience required Training experience or commitment to learn required Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, recent exam with a veterinarian, and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.  Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was rescued from Stanislaus shelter in California, arriving to foster care in Seattle on 11/13 via START. This dog will be available for adoption in the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care.August 7, 2026, 5:22 pm

Story
This dog is the sweetest dog. Good with children and other animals at dogpark. She just has pretty bad separation anxiety. I am to busy to care for her and I was told she would not do well with crate training at her age plus her history of self harm in a crate. For that reason I have never attempted. She would do well in a family where someone is around most of the time or an older couple.

Story
Meet Charlie Boy! He is a Rottweiler/Labrador/Pittie mix. He is around 2 years old. Charlie Boy is a courtesy post for House of Hope at Shelton WA. He has been staying at House of Hope for several months now and is ready for his new home. Charlie Boy was surrendered, because his family no longer had time for him. He's a very sweet, affectionate, and playful dog. He loves just being wherever you are. He is a big lapdog. He has lived with 6 other dogs over the last several months and has done extremely well, considering he was never around dogs, before coming to House of Hope. He can get a little fear reactive in new situations but settles down quickly. I took my time introducing him to the pack here, about a week, and he did great. He really prefers girl dogs over boy dogs. If he is placed in a home with another dog, then the other dog should be a confident dog. He is not a dog park dog, and I would not take him into stores, because he would most likely become overwhelmed and fear reactive. He pulls very hard on a regular leash and collar, so he is walked with a no pull harness. He loves car rides, but barks at people he sees walking/biking. Charlie will only be adopted out to someone that has experience with a dog like him...no exceptions. He would be happiest in quiet, calm settings. He loves dog toys, fetching, and hanging out in his yard, giving lots of love, treats, going on walks in his neighborhood, car rides for a pup cup. As his foster mom, I have grown extremely fond of Charlie Boy, because of his sweet, loveable, and goofy personality. Charlie Boy is vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, house trained, crate trained, and knows some basic commands. He is also muzzle trained. If interested in adopting Charlie Boy, please submit an adoption application and we will forward it to House of Hope at Shelton WA. His adoption does require a home visit, adoption contract, and an adoption fee of $350.

FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED Meet Max! Max is an 8½-year-old, 70 lb German Shepherd who is ready to find a loving home where he can enjoy all the good things life has to offer. This handsome older gentleman is sweet, smart, and easygoing, with plenty of love left to give. Max enjoys spending time with his people, going for walks, relaxing in the yard, and keeping an eye out for squirrels. He’s the perfect companion for someone looking for a loyal dog who still enjoys getting out and exploring but is also happy to settle in and enjoy a peaceful day at home. He’s a smart boy who is eager to please—especially when treats are involved! Max already knows sit, shake, and down, and he would enjoy continuing to learn and bond with his new family. Max has done well with other dogs and could enjoy having a compatible canine companion in his forever home. More than anything, he’s looking for a calm, steady environment where he can settle in, feel loved, and enjoy his golden years surrounded by people who appreciate everything that makes German Shepherds so special. A Shepherd-loving home with a yard for Max to explore, relax, and chase the occasional squirrel would be a dream come true for this sweet boy. If you’re looking for a loyal, gentle companion to share walks and quiet afternoons with ~ Max may be your perfect match! Max is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption fee is $300.

Story
FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED! Say hello to Rock! He is a beautiful and sweet 90lb, ~2 yo, Cane Corso/Rottweiler/Lab mix. He came to us from California in hopes of finding his forever family! Rock is an all around awesome dog! He is friendly, goofy, playful, and a good time! He is a very strong boy, so will need adopters who are experienced with large breeds and can handle him. Rock has a great demeanor, and life-of-the-party personality. He loves people, making new friends, and dogs too! He has done great with dogs in our care and is playful. He can be a little vocal and excited when meeting dogs for the first time, but he just wants to say hello! Rock will thrive in a home that can continue basic obedience, and be social with him. He enjoys walks, meeting people, attention and treats! Since Rock is a big and bouncy boy, we are recommending older kids. He could knock over or accidentally hurt a small child due to his size. He is not tested with cats. Rock is neutered, UTD on shots, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $500.
