Animal Profile: Bodhi is an estimated 3-year-old, 80-pound Doberman Shepherd or possibly Beauceron mix. This guy is full of spunk and loves to play. Sadly, Bodhi found himself at risk in an overcrowded shelter simply because there wasn’t enough space.  Foster Update: Bodhi is a smart, biddable, confident and fun dog. He loves to play -- fetch, tug, wrestling, doesn't matter -- and work. He truly enjoys obedience training, and structured play is a great way to fill his cup. He is fully crate trained and house-trained and has great dog social skills with both large and small dogs. He has not been evaluated with cats and we would require cat testing prior to placement.  Bodhi is a guardian breed mix and absolutely needs a knowledgeable owner who can provide him leadership and structure, as well as enforce boundaries. Without this relationship dynamic, Bodhi is pushy with his people, and territorial to newcomers. With the right relationship dynamic, Bodhi is biddable with his person and accepting of new people. Bodhi will do best with an intentional owner who wants to do stuff with him (versus as a hang around the house, kind of pet) although Bodhi does absolutely have a chill setting and is not hyperactive in the home.  He runs well on a leash and goes on regular 3-mile runs with a volunteer. He knows sit, down -- with implied stays -- recalls with distractions, and walks nicely on leash. He has a great nose and would excel at tracking. He is absolutely a lot of dog and a "dog person" will truly appreciate him. He would be too much for a first time or inexperienced dog owner.  Adopter Profile: Single family residence required No apartments or condos Fenced yard preferred (not required) Other dogs OK but not required Cats considered with evaluation Large breed experience required Training experience or commitment to learn required Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, recent exam with a veterinarian, and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.  Trial Adoption: Bodhi is available through our partnership with STIC K9 Collective which includes a one-month transition period and adoption finalized after thirty days. FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED! Say hello to Astro! ❤️ Astro is a handsome 3-year-old, 75-pound Doberman who came to us from a high-kill shelter in California. While we don’t know much about his history, Astro appears to have lived in a home before, and he certainly knows how to be a loving companion! This sweet, happy boy is the perfect combination of goofy, bouncy, affectionate, and loyal. Like many Dobermans, Astro bonds deeply with his people and would much rather be by your side than left out of the fun. He would thrive with a family who has plenty of time to spend with him and loves bringing their dog along for adventures. Astro walks well on leash and loves being outdoors, but he’s equally happy lounging around the house and cuddling with his people. Astro can be excitable toward other dogs when out and about and can be a bit vocal. With slow, thoughtful introductions, he can do well with other dogs, but he would thrive with a family who is committed to continuing his socialization and helping him build confidence and positive experiences. Astro would do best in a standalone home with a securely fenced yard rather than an apartment or high-density living environment. Though he could do okay in a townhome environment in a not as busy area. If you’re a Doberman lover looking for a goofy, devoted, adventure-loving companion, Astro is one special boy. He has so much love to give and is ready to find the people he can finally call his forever family. Astro is neutered, UTD on shots, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $550.

Max is an 8.5-year-old, 70 lb German Shepherd mix who may be a little older, but he still has plenty of life, love, and adventures left to share with his forever family! Max is a calm, friendly, well-mannered gentleman who gets along well with both people and other dogs. He’s already housetrained, knows sit, down, paw, and stay, and is a quick learner who is working on his loose-leash walking. He also rarely barks, making him a lovely, easygoing companion! Looking for a loyal sidekick? Max is your guy! 🥰 He LOVES car rides and would be the perfect buddy for errands, road trips, and everyday adventures. He also takes his job as your loyal companion very seriously, escorting you around and making sure everything (and everyone!) gets a proper sniff inspection when you return home. Max loves belly rubs, enthusiastic butt pats, and cuddling so much that he’ll happily try to climb right into your lap! He enjoys running around the backyard, is still surprisingly agile, and has plenty of playful energy left. He’s also very food-motivated, so don’t be surprised if he checks the counters for any unattended snacks! FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED: Adoptable Junnie! He is a ~4.5-5 year-old, Malinois mix who is looking for his forever home! He came to us around 9 months old, and has been waiting for a foster or forever home with us for 4 years. He would love to find his forever family ❤️ Junnie is a happy and sweet boy who loves to play and be active! He will require an active family that has experience with working breeds. He would make a great outdoors (hiking/camping/running etc) partner. He loves to play with toys and loves fetch! Junnie has been working on his dog socialization skills during his time with us and has made massive strides in what used to be overexcited puppy mouthiness, pretty typical for a young Malinois mix! He has done great with other dogs in our care on walks, and during meets, and group socializing. We do not know how he will be with another dog in the home, so meeting any existing pets in the home is a must. He would also do great as an only dog soaking up all the affection and continuing dog socialization outside of the home. He will require a home with a fenced yard for running and playing, no apartments. Junnie bonds deeply to his person/people, and can take a bit to gain trust with new people. We are looking for a home with no kids or cats. Junnie is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and neutered. His adoption fee is $400.
