Story
Delta was a transfer from a municipal based shelter that was in proximity of the Aspen Acres Fire. Whether his old owners left him, lost him, or they realized they couldn't take him with them going forward, Delta wound up in an overcrowded space where lots of other animals were facing similar outcomes. Delta is a wonderful ambassador of his breed - he is very smart, very trainable, and he loves routines (like he enjoys hanging in his crate with the door open.) Delta loves other dogs and just wants to play - so either a canine companion of similar size and energy - or a human committed to keeping his body and his brain busy is a must. Delta has ignored chickens and other birds, as well as cats in his foster homes. Delta would be an amazing hiking partner, jogging buddy, or even just a dog that knows some basic and advanced obedience where his colors can shine. He is a lean 68lbs and could put on a little more weight - however he is not super food motivated and does not have any resource issues. In fact, we frequently have to pick up bowls that he has not completed just to keep the other dogs from grazing off of his meals throughout the day. Delta is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped with registration, dewormed, flea and tick treated, and has been provided heart worm prevention. This gorgeous guy could be your best four legged friend ever - he just needs someone to give him a chance. He knows some general obedience, but is very easy to train. Delta is crate trained and is house trained - however as he was recently neutered, at least for now while the hormones are leaving, if he is unmonitored he sometimes marks in the house. We believe this behavior will decrease and stop over the next several weeks. Delta does great with kids and does not mind being handled or having people up in his space. Delta loves walks and although he isn't an off leash canine yet, he enjoys trips to the dog park and will come when called.

Story
Meet Gracie Gracie’s life began on the streets of Mexico. She was taken in by a family with an unaltered German Shepherd, and soon after, Gracie had puppies. All of her pups were given away—except one, who was transferred to FRGSR with his mom - he has already been adopted! Now settling into her foster home, here’s what we’ve learned so far: Gracie has a bit of a prey drive—cats and chickens definitely caught her attention Her confidence level has improved significantly since she first arrived. She’s gentle and sweet with her foster’s daughter, though she may do best in a home with older kids. Foster mom says an adopter with some Malinois experience is preferred. She can be "talkative" when left alone, so she may not do well in apartment or multi-family settings. At the end of the day, Gracie is truly the sweetest girl who just wants love and an active lifestyle. 💛

Story
Max a Million is a ~2-year-old male rescued from a high-kill shelter and now safe with FRGSR. He’s a sweet but nervous boy mwho is still building confidence and learning the ropes. He’s doing great with his husky foster sibling, appears house-trained, and sleeps quietly in his crate. Max doesn’t know basic commands yet but is eager to learn. He is unsure of hardwood floors but improving daily (especially with a little ham encouragement!). He’ll thrive in a patient, understanding home that can help him continue to grow into the loyal companion we know he’ll be. 🐾

Story
Hutla, smaller malinois mix, 48 lb, female, spayed, 1 yoHutla is a beautiful, sweet, waggy, happy girl. She looks like a very small shepherd, she is young, playful,  obedient and trainable.  She was abandoned in the fields and showed up one night at someone's farm with her mom Ursa. Needs to be guided with  patience gentleness as she is young and often acts puppy-like. She is loving and cuddly. She is rather friendly and submissive with the other dogs, but gets nervous at first and needs proper introduction. Better with the male dogs. Good on a leash. Needs a fenced yard with 6' fence. Adoption fee $325. If interested, please submit an adoption or foster application at http://www.sanNicolaDogRescue.com      March 9, 2026, 12:24 am

Ursa, 2-3 yo, malinois, 56 lb, spayed femaleUrsa showed up one night at someone's farm with her puppy Hutla, apparently abandoned. She is gorgeous, loyal, a lot of love and rather calm and cooperative. She is good with another friendly male dog and her puppy Hutla who used to hide under her at first. However malinois are more like shepherds and should be on a leash around stranger dogs. She needs a secure yard with 6' fence. Story
This sweet boy may take a little time to warm up, but once he trusts you, he melts for gentle pets and tasty snacks. He’s potty trained, crate trained, and ready to keep learning with positive reinforcement training. He needs an experienced owner with kids 13+ who can introduce him slowly to new people and help manage reactivity. With a strong prey drive, he’ll also need a home with no cats or small animals. With patience and love, he’ll become an incredibly loyal companion.

Story
Meet Nigel – Your Future German Shepherd Best Friend! Nigel is a handsome 5-month-old German Shepherd mix who weighs about 40 pounds. He’s still got plenty of growing to do, but he’s already showing off that classic GSD intelligence, loyalty, and eagerness to be part of whatever his people are doing. German Shepherds are known for being smart, devoted, athletic, and incredibly connected to their humans—and Nigel seems to have gotten the memo! He’s at that wonderful puppy age where his brain is soaking up everything around him, making this the perfect time to help him learn all the important things a good family dog should know. Of course, Nigel is also five months old, which means his résumé currently includes important skills such as being adorable, investigating everything, and occasionally forgetting what he was doing halfway through doing it. He’ll need a family ready to give him plenty of exercise, mental stimulation, guidance, and—most importantly—a lifetime of love. In return, you’ll get a loyal companion who will likely want to be your shadow, your adventure buddy, and your very enthusiastic assistant in all household activities. At 40 pounds already, Nigel is well on his way to becoming a substantial handsome boy. We think he has all the makings of one very special German Shepherd mix. Nigel is ready to trade his puppyhood adventures for a family of his very own. Could that be you? If you would like to adopt, please complete an adoption application at https://www.circle2rescue.com/dog-adoption-application/   Adoption Fee: $250 which includes:  Neuter  Age-appropriate vaccinations  Deworming  Microchip ##2822462##
