Story
Hutla, smaller malinois mix, 48 lb, female, spayed, 1 yoHutla is a beautiful, sweet, waggy, happy girl. She looks like a very small shepherd, she is young, playful,  obedient and trainable.  She was abandoned in the fields and showed up one night at someone's farm with her mom Ursa. Needs to be guided with  patience gentleness as she is young and often acts puppy-like. She is loving and cuddly. She is rather friendly and submissive with the other dogs, but gets nervous at first and needs proper introduction. Better with the male dogs. Good on a leash. Needs a fenced yard with 6' fence. Adoption fee $325. If interested, please submit an adoption or foster application at http://www.sanNicolaDogRescue.com      March 9, 2026, 12:24 am

Story
Blaziken’s story starts the way too many do—an unplanned litter between two unaltered working breeds, created without a long-term plan. When life circumstances changed, he and his siblings needed somewhere to go. That’s where we stepped in. After just a few days in rescue, Blaziken is showing us a sweet, submissive, and slightly nervous personality. He bonds quickly with people and prefers human connection over canine interaction right now. As his confidence grows, this may evolve. He will need a confident, experienced handler familiar with working breeds—someone who can provide structure, guidance, and reassurance as he learns the world isn’t so scary. He is not a dog park candidate, but may do well in a home with a calm, respectful dog. Blaziken is crate trained and does well overnight, though he is still working through some nervous behaviors. With the right home, this boy has so much potential to grow into a loyal, balanced companion.

Story
Max a Million is a ~2-year-old male rescued from a high-kill shelter and now safe with FRGSR. He’s a sweet but nervous boy mwho is still building confidence and learning the ropes. He’s doing great with his husky foster sibling, appears house-trained, and sleeps quietly in his crate. Max doesn’t know basic commands yet but is eager to learn. He is unsure of hardwood floors but improving daily (especially with a little ham encouragement!). He’ll thrive in a patient, understanding home that can help him continue to grow into the loyal companion we know he’ll be. 🐾

Story
Meet Gracie Gracie’s life began on the streets of Mexico. She was taken in by a family with an unaltered German Shepherd, and soon after, Gracie had puppies. All of her pups were given away—except one, who was transferred to FRGSR with his mom - he has already been adopted! Now settling into her foster home, here’s what we’ve learned so far: Gracie has a bit of a prey drive—cats and chickens definitely caught her attention She’s not overly confident yet, but having another confident dog around helps her thrive. She’s gentle and sweet with her foster’s daughter, though she may do best in a home with older kids. At the end of the day, Gracie is truly the sweetest girl who just wants love 💛

These pups are in Westminster, Colorado too!

Story
Looking for a Loyal and Lovable Companion? Meet Moon, a loving rescue dog ready to be a part of someone's family! Moon is a 4 year old Shepherd/Lab mix. She’s a little chunky lol but should weigh about 60 pounds once she loses a couple pounds :) She is super sweet and a happy dog with a heart full of love. She is affectionate and friendly. She enjoys giving kisses, playtime, car rides, going on walks or cuddling with her humans. Moon is a medium energy dog who is a really good girl. Moon is potty trained if taken out regularly and is doing well with crate training. She's dog friendly tho unknown about cats. She does great with kids and is a very friendly pup. She's a cute girl, who is smart and learns quickly. She is a snuggle bug, who will love you forever, be a loyal companion and eager to please.. Moon's backstory: Moon's owner died unexpectedly and none of the family would take Moon or her 14 year old fur sister Sunny - they ended up at a kill shelter in Southern Colorado. Sunny is also available for a furever foster (due to age) and we’d love them to go to the same home but they would also do well in their own homes.
