Story
Hutla, smaller malinois mix, 48 lb, female, spayed, 1 yoHutla is a beautiful, sweet, waggy, happy girl. She looks like a very small shepherd, she is young, playful,  obedient and trainable.  She was abandoned in the fields and showed up one night at someone's farm with her mom Ursa. Needs to be guided with  patience gentleness as she is young and often acts puppy-like. She is loving and cuddly. She is rather friendly and submissive with the other dogs, but gets nervous at first and needs proper introduction. Better with the male dogs. Good on a leash. Needs a fenced yard with 6' fence. Adoption fee $325. If interested, please submit an adoption or foster application at http://www.sanNicolaDogRescue.com      March 30, 2025, 7:55 pm

Story
Ursa, 2-3 yo, malinois, 56 lb, spayed femaleUrsa showed up one night at someone's farm with her puppy Hutla, apparently abandoned. She is gorgeous, loyal, a lot of love and rather calm and cooperative. She is good with another friendly male dog and her puppy Hutla who used to hide under her at first. However malinois are more like shepherds and should be on a leash around stranger dogs. She needs a secure yard with 6' fence. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Sarge is a neutered 2 year old Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd mix currently being fostered in Denver, CO. Sarge is an outgoing, playful, and affectionate boy with a big personality and an even bigger love for fun. He is smart, curious, and full of energy, and he thrives when he has opportunities to play, explore, and be active with his people. Sarge loves other dogs and is always eager to make friends. He will happily nudge a dog to invite them to play and enjoys running and tug of war, especially with dogs his size or larger. While he gets excited and may pull toward dogs on leash, he is not aggressive and does well with slow, proper introductions. He is great at picking up on cues and will back off when another dog is done playing. Sarge has a moderate to high energy level and would do best in an active home. He would love daily walks, hikes, playtime, and mental stimulation. A fenced yard would be a big bonus, but he could also thrive with a family committed to keeping him exercised. He would do well with or without another dog in the home. On leash, Sarge could use some continued training. He is strong and tends to pull, but he responds well to guidance and does great with a gentle leader. He is fully house trained and crate trained, sleeping in his crate overnight and when his people are out. He can also be trusted with free roam, as he is not destructive. Sarge is a total lovebug with people. He is very cuddly, affectionate, and happy to greet new friends, though he may jump a bit when excited. He loves toys and proudly hoards them, lining them up one by one like treasured possessions. One of his cutest habits is doing a full somersault onto his dog bed after running inside. Sarge would be an amazing match for an active person or family looking for an adventure buddy. Older kids or dog savvy children would be best since he can be jumpy when excited. With continued leash training, plenty of toys, and lots of outdoor time, Sarge will be a loyal, joyful companion. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. Story
Deku is a sweet, social, and very trainable pup who’s making great progress with his routines. He walks nicely on leash—he may stroll a bit ahead but doesn’t pull and responds well to gentle leash cues and his name. He’s learning to heel and loves his walks, especially when he can roll around in the grass! Deku is crate trained and comfortable spending time in his crate. He eats his meals there, enjoys a peanut-butter-filled Kong, and sleeps soundly through the night. During the day, he clearly loves the couch—he’s happiest curling up for a nap or snuggling next to you. He’ll happily sleep in his crate too if you let him in. He’s made great progress with house training and knows to go potty outside. After a couple of accidents in the first few days, he’s improved quickly and is doing great. Deku is an energetic, curious pup with a derpy, endearing side! He’s also an exceptionally quick learner—he picked up "down" and “leave it” in just two days and continues to get better with practice. He already knows sit and come, and will even do a little spin or sit when you say “ready” and lift the ball before throwing it for fetch.Deku thrives with daily walks and active playtime, and he loves games that challenge him physically. He will happily play fetch for hours, loves tug, enjoys snuggling like a lap dog, and adores being around people. He’s very social with humans and always eager for pets and affection. He’s still learning not to jump on people and counters, and he’s also working on how to interact with other dogs. Right now, he tends to bark and lunge toward them, but he’s improving with positive reinforcement and treats. He likely wants to socialize and just needs guidance on how to approach calmly and play appropriately. With patience and continued training, Deku will keep thriving—he’s affectionate, playful, and eager to please. He will be a wonderful companion who will bring lots of love and laughter to his future home. ##2555760##

Story
Dana is a 4–5 month old baby girl with huge paws and an even bigger heart — which likely means she’s going to grow into a lovely medium-to-large dog. Her breed mix is a mystery, but whatever she’s made of, it’s clearly something special. Dana is incredibly sweet and gentle. New things can make her a little nervous at first, but she warms up quickly with reassurance and kindness. Once she feels safe, her soft, affectionate personality shines. She’s been great with everyone she’s met and is eager to please. She’s currently learning the ropes of kennel training and doing well, especially for a puppy who’s still figuring out the world. With consistency and patience, she’s going to be a wonderful companion. Dana’s story makes her even more remarkable — she was saved from a very rural shelter with limited resources the night before her scheduled euthanasia. Thanks to a second chance, she now gets to discover what love, comfort, and stability truly feel like. Dana is ready for a family who will help her continue building confidence and show her that the world can be a safe and happy place. If you’re looking for a sweet, resilient puppy to grow up with, Dana might just be your girl.  ##2651906##
