Meet Maple Maple’s story begins with quiet bravery. At just about a year old herself, this young rez dog was doing everything she could to protect her nine tiny puppies while living on the streets. When she discovered an abandoned dog house on a nearby property, she seized the little bit of shelter it offered. One by one, she carried each puppy into the rugged, makeshift structure , determined to give them whatever safety she could from the cold, windy weather outside . It wasn’t much — but to Maple, it was hope. When we learned about her situation, we organized a rescue crew and drove out to bring Maple and her babies to safety . She greeted us with a mix of exhaustion and relief, trusting us enough to let us help her family. Now warm, safe, and cared for, Maple is thriving. She’s doing a marvelous job raising her puppies , showing the kind of devotion and gentleness that makes her truly special. Malinois are a working breed and do best with an experienced owner who knows a bit about caring for a Belgian Malinois. Here are some of the things to consider about the breed. Belgian Malinois are a highly intelligent breed. In fact, they surpassed the intelligence of the Border Collie and now rank as the smartest breed with a total of 35 out of 39 points.Once they put their mind to it, they can excel at almost anything they do; they will even try outsmarting you sometimes. They need a strong and confident owner who knows how to be a pack leader; otherwise, they will dominate the household.Given their intelligence and eagerness to please their owners, the Belgian Malinois is relatively easy to train. They can generally learn a new command within 5–15 repetitions. The Belgian Malinois makes an incredible watchdog because they are inherently protective of their owners and their property without being too aggressive. They won’t hesitate to alert you when they spot a stranger or a perceived threat on the property. The Belgian Malinois is not your average pet, and adding one to your family is like adding a child. They require consistent mental and physical stimulation and an experienced owner to meet these needs. AdoptaGSD.org Please consider that some of these dogs have been abandoned or ignored by their previous owners, having little interaction with someone who cares about them. When adopted, they will need time to adjust to the changes in their life. This litter has 2 females and 6 males. They arrive Dec 3. All we know about them is their owner brought them to the shelter because he didnt want to care for them any longer. They are 8-10 weeks old. We dont know which pup is which. More after we get them into foster homes and learn a little about their personalities. Adoption fee is $300 and adoption will not be final until you get them spayed.
