Story
She may not look like a traditional Shepherd — because she’s a Malinois mix with all the brains and drive to match. This girl is incredibly smart, highly food motivated, crate trained, and potty trained. She’s working on leash manners and thrives with structure, training, and having a job. Best Fit: • No cats or small animals (high prey drive) • Older kids recommended (playful, mouthy, can be rambunctious) • Active home with a yard or outdoor lifestyle • Experienced owner, ideally familiar with Malinois traits She loves her current dog pack but can be reactive meeting new dogs, so proper introductions and leadership are important. No aggression or resource guarding observed. She’s not a couch potato — she’s an athletic, focused, working-minded girl ready to bond deeply with someone who understands her drive and will help her shine.

Story
Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Bubba #5 finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   Bubba #5 | 1-Year-Old Belgian Malinois Mix | Playful, Energetic Best Friend Bubba is a 1-year-old, 40-pound Belgian Malinois mix with a sleek black coat and an upbeat, friendly personality. He’s an energetic young dog who loves being around people and other dogs. At the dog park he’s a total social butterfly, happily playing with dogs of all sizes and making friends wherever he goes. Bubba is nearly house trained and has made great progress since arriving in foster care. He had a few accidents during his first week while settling in, but he’s been doing very well since. On leash he walks fairly well, though he can pull when he gets excited about meeting people or other dogs. His enthusiasm comes from a friendly place—he just wants to say hello and make new friends. When left home alone for a few hours, Bubba does well in his crate. He may whine briefly at first but settles down quickly and is calm when his people return. He currently knows “sit” (especially when treats are involved) and is still working on his puppy manners, including remembering not to jump up when he’s excited. He responds well to structure and has settled nicely into his foster home’s routine. Bubba has also done well living with a cat, mostly showing mild curiosity before moving on. While he hasn’t met children yet, he’s been very friendly with all people he’s encountered. As a Belgian Malinois mix, Bubba is a smart, high-energy dog who will thrive with an experienced and active owner. This breed is known for its intelligence and work ethic, and Bubba will do best in a home that can provide plenty of daily physical exercise, consistent training, and mental stimulation. He enjoys being engaged and having structure, and he’ll flourish with someone who wants an active companion for walks, hikes, training, or other activities. With the right home that understands and embraces the needs of an active working breed, Bubba will make a loyal, fun-loving companion who’s always ready for the next adventure.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $400. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls. PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member! Story
Gabby is very sweet but quite shy. She is cautious and can be scared of new things such as unfamiliar places, people, and dogs. She does warm up over time, but it takes her a while to feel safe and start playing. When she gets scared, she may try to hide. Gabby is crate trained and feels safe in her crate. She will sometimes cry a little when she wants to be let out, but overall she is not very vocal at this stage. She is still learning potty training and it is taking her some time, but she is very motivated by treats. She has no food aggression and absolutely loves her foster sister, although she doesn’t quite understand the concept of personal space yet. If placed in a home with other dogs, they should be non-aggressive and very patient with her while she gains confidence. Gabby does have plenty of energy when she feels comfortable and wants to play, but she is also calm and enjoys cuddling once she feels safe. She doesn’t bite much, except occasionally when she gets very playful and forgets she isn’t playing with her brother. Gabby is sensitive and can get very scared if voices are raised, so she will do best with calm, gentle training. ##2667791##

Story
Hutla, smaller malinois mix, 48 lb, female, spayed, 1 yoHutla is a beautiful, sweet, waggy, happy girl. She looks like a very small shepherd, she is young, playful,  obedient and trainable.  She was abandoned in the fields and showed up one night at someone's farm with her mom Ursa. Needs to be guided with  patience gentleness as she is young and often acts puppy-like. She is loving and cuddly. She is rather friendly and submissive with the other dogs, but gets nervous at first and needs proper introduction. Better with the male dogs. Good on a leash. Needs a fenced yard with 6' fence. Adoption fee $325. If interested, please submit an adoption or foster application at http://www.sanNicolaDogRescue.com      March 9, 2026, 12:24 am

Story
Ursa, 2-3 yo, malinois, 56 lb, spayed femaleUrsa showed up one night at someone's farm with her puppy Hutla, apparently abandoned. She is gorgeous, loyal, a lot of love and rather calm and cooperative. She is good with another friendly male dog and her puppy Hutla who used to hide under her at first. However malinois are more like shepherds and should be on a leash around stranger dogs. She needs a secure yard with 6' fence. Story
Draco is a 5y/o, neutered, male, purebred AKC German Shepherd. He is an exceptional dog, but is not adapting well in a new home with children. He is outgoing, goofy, and deeply affectionate. He has completed extensive training, and is e‑collar trained. He thrives when given clear structure, purpose, and stimulation. Draco is full of character. He loves stuffed toys, especially the challenge of eliminating their squeakers. His favorite is fetch; frisbees, balls, sticks.. if it were a sport, he’d win the gold. He is overly curious when he spots a rabbit or squirrel. He is fully house trained but talks back when created or secluded in any way. Draco seems to do well with other animals. He doesn't like his paws touched and gets nervous around motorcycles and other animals on the tv. He loves to go for car rides although his anxiety will make you think otherwise.Draco needs a secure yard, an owner with GSD experience, plenty of exercise and mental stimulation, and where he will be loved.
