Not good with dogs,
Story
Meet Gracie Gracie’s life began on the streets of Mexico. She was taken in by a family with an unaltered German Shepherd, and soon after, Gracie had puppies. All of her pups were given away—except one, who was transferred to FRGSR with his mom - he has already been adopted! Now settling into her foster home, here’s what we’ve learned so far: Gracie has a bit of a prey drive—cats and chickens definitely caught her attention She’s not overly confident yet, but having another confident dog around helps her thrive. She’s gentle and sweet with her foster’s daughter, though she may do best in a home with older kids. At the end of the day, Gracie is truly the sweetest girl who just wants love 💛

Story
Hutla, smaller malinois mix, 48 lb, female, spayed, 1 yoHutla is a beautiful, sweet, waggy, happy girl. She looks like a very small shepherd, she is young, playful,  obedient and trainable.  She was abandoned in the fields and showed up one night at someone's farm with her mom Ursa. Needs to be guided with  patience gentleness as she is young and often acts puppy-like. She is loving and cuddly. She is rather friendly and submissive with the other dogs, but gets nervous at first and needs proper introduction. Better with the male dogs. Good on a leash. Needs a fenced yard with 6' fence. Adoption fee $325. If interested, please submit an adoption or foster application at http://www.sanNicolaDogRescue.com      March 9, 2026, 12:24 am

Story
Ursa, 2-3 yo, malinois, 56 lb, spayed femaleUrsa showed up one night at someone's farm with her puppy Hutla, apparently abandoned. She is gorgeous, loyal, a lot of love and rather calm and cooperative. She is good with another friendly male dog and her puppy Hutla who used to hide under her at first. However malinois are more like shepherds and should be on a leash around stranger dogs. She needs a secure yard with 6' fence. Story
6 years old. Incredibly smart dog. I am so heart broken that i have to surrender this guy. He has been my heart and soul, but with this, I allowed him to become incredibly protective of me. He has bitten a family member, and more recently a friends child. I am not able to keep him. He is fine in public, with dogs and people, but once someone enters my house, he is unpredictable. I have put him through extensive training, but short of getting Cesar Milan, I dont have any luck. My biggest struggle is I am by myself, and very rarely have people come over, or come through my house. All the training/trainers I have gone through, dont seem to understand that the issue is exposure in my current situation. I would need several people to come over consistently and work with me and him, and I am not able to find anyone willing to help me.

Story
Meet Abuelito Male DOB: May 23, 2023 Weight: 50 pounds (medium) Breed: Belgian Malinois / Carolina Dog Mix Neutered (Fixed) Vaccinated Microchipped Healthy & Adoption-Ready Personality, Breed Info & Expectations Abuelito is an incredibly loving, gentle soul with a tender personality and a heart full of affection. He is sweet, calm, and deeply people-oriented, enjoying companionship and closeness with those around him. He has the kind of soft, loving energy that makes everyone feel instantly comfortable. He also gets along beautifully with: Cats Dogs People Abuelito is described as extremely affectionate and very gentle, making him the kind of dog who simply wants love, connection, and a peaceful home where he can feel safe and included. As a Belgian Malinois / Carolina Dog mix, Abuelito may show traits such as intelligence, awareness, loyalty, and strong emotional bonds with his family. While Belgian Malinois mixes are often known for being active and intelligent, Abuelito appears to have a calmer, softer temperament that makes him especially endearing. Abuelito would thrive in a home that can provide: Daily companionship and affection Moderate exercise and walks Structure and consistency Inclusion as part of the family He would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loving, loyal, and emotionally connected dog. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Many rescue dogs come from very different backgrounds. Some may have previously lived in homes, while others may have come from the streets, overcrowded shelters, neglect situations, or environments where they had little structure or guidance. Because of this, most rescue dogs arrive with only basic training at best, and some may have had no formal training at all. Even dogs who appear well-behaved in foster care or at the rescue are still adjusting and learning. The rescue environment itself also does not always allow for extensive one-on-one training. While we work hard to provide safety, structure, socialization, and basic guidance, adopters should be prepared to continue training and support after adoption. Abuelito will benefit from: Positive reinforcement training Structure and consistency Continued socialization and engagement Patience during adjustment periods Routine and companionship Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 days to decompress 3 weeks to learn your routine 3 months to fully feel at home With patience, stability, and commitment, rescue dogs often blossom into deeply loyal lifelong companions. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Owning a dog is a lifelong commitment that includes daily exercise, companionship, routine veterinary care, training, mental stimulation, and financial responsibility. Abuelito will need: Daily walks and interaction Continued training and guidance Routine wellness exams and preventative veterinary care A safe, stable, indoor living environment Consistent veterinary care, proper nutrition, preventative care, and emotional stability are all essential to helping him live a healthy and happy life. Abuelito is an indoor family dog and is not to be chained or left outside. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Sarge is a neutered 2 year old Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd mix currently being fostered in Denver, CO. Sarge is an outgoing, playful, and affectionate boy with a big personality and an even bigger love for fun. He is smart, curious, and full of energy, and he thrives when he has opportunities to play, explore, and be active with his people. Sarge loves other dogs and is always eager to make friends. He will happily nudge a dog to invite them to play and enjoys running and tug of war, especially with dogs his size or larger. While he gets excited and may pull toward dogs on leash, he is not aggressive and does well with slow, proper introductions. He is great at picking up on cues and will back off when another dog is done playing. Sarge has a moderate to high energy level and would do best in an active home. He would love daily walks, hikes, playtime, and mental stimulation. A fenced yard would be a big bonus, but he could also thrive with a family committed to keeping him exercised. He would do well with or without another dog in the home. On leash, Sarge could use some continued training. He is strong and tends to pull, but he responds well to guidance and does great with a gentle leader. He is fully house trained and crate trained, sleeping in his crate overnight and when his people are out. He can also be trusted with free roam, as he is not destructive. Sarge is a total lovebug with people. He is very cuddly, affectionate, and happy to greet new friends, though he may jump a bit when excited. He loves toys and proudly hoards them, lining them up one by one like treasured possessions. One of his cutest habits is doing a full somersault onto his dog bed after running inside. Sarge would be an amazing match for an active person or family looking for an adventure buddy. Older kids or dog savvy children would be best since he can be jumpy when excited. With continued leash training, plenty of toys, and lots of outdoor time, Sarge will be a loyal, joyful companion. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown.
