We were able to rescue Ella Mae from being put to sleep and she's safe and happy with her foster. Would you consider adopting her? Her foster says: Meet Ella Mae your new best friend waiting to happen! Ella Mae is a total sweetheart with a heart full of love. She adores her people and will happily follow you around the house, always hoping for cuddles and connection. Shes friendly with adults and wonderful with young kids, making her a great companion for a family looking for a gentle, affectionate dog. Shes still learning to feel confident around new dogs and cats she meets on walks, but shes come a long way. With slow introductions and patience, shes learned to get along and even play with her foster brother, a Shiba Inu. Shell continue to thrive in a home that gives her positive guidance and reassurance. Ella Mae is an easygoing, calm girl who loves pets, belly rubs, and hanging out. She enjoys relaxing in the backyard, sunbathing, and chasing squirrels (her favorite pastime!). Shes also very food-motivated and LOVES treats, which makes training fun and easy. Shes crate-trained, house broken, knows some commands, has good recall, and overall brings a joyful, happy energy wherever she goes. This sweet bonded pair ended up at the Kern County Shelter after their human passed away. They had been with her since they were young and were very well-loved family members. Sadly, they started shutting down at the shelter, but luckily a kind foster stepped up and cared for them for several months before having to go oversees to care for family. That’s when Harli & Bear made their journey to Lily’s, first spending time with a temporary foster and now with a long-term foster until they find their forever home (hopefully soon!). With all the changes in their life, understandably, Harli & Bear take some time to warm up to new people. Once they do, they spend most of their day lounging. Bear loves toys and won’t go anywhere without his stuffy. He’s attentive to his sister, Harli who is a little more shy, keeping an eye out for her, never going too far. In one of their foster homes, they had 5 resident doggy siblings and did well but would prefer a smaller pack with maybe one other dog so they can get all the attention they deserve. Despite all they’ve been through, these two remain total sweethearts, looking for their new furever home to call their own. They have received rave reviews from their fosters on how easy and lovable they remain. Here’s what one of their fosters had to say: "These two are the most adorable bonded pair I have ever seen. Harli is sweet and shy. She is often afraid to go outside to greet my other dogs, so Bear will be by her side and he is her best bud and will always be with her. I have seen him give her kisses on the face to reassure her. They are an easy pair. They want mostly to be with their person and to have their bellies rubbed or their back scratched. They are not aggressive. They eat their food together peacefully and do not guard their food or toys. Wherever they go, their new guardian would be so incredibly lucky to have them. I have only fostered them for six days and already love them so much. They're an easy loving pair. Please consider adopting them. You will love them!"
