Not good with kids, Not good with dogs,
Story
LOCATION: SANCTUARY IN WILLITS, CA. Slick is an intense boy! Protector, hustler, ranch keeper.... people friendly, but will guard most likely once he establishes his pack and terrain, at least he'll alert and make someone think twice. Not a dog for the faint of heart or inexperienced. Slick is male dominant and needs a low stimulation environment to succeed in living with another dog - but with space and a female dog he can get along.... Someone who lives in a rural situation who wants a smart, quick, alert, challenging companion - Here's SLICK!! Thank you for considering adoption of a Milo Foundation Sanctuary dog. Our Sanctuary is where our rescued dogs who have had difficulty in a home in the past, have behavioral issues, or too much energy, or for some, aggression issues with other dogs, or intense stranger danger that make them more difficult to safely and happily live in urban environments. These are not beginner dogs or for the most part nor are they for families with children. IF you are looking for an easy dog to add to your family, we suggest looking at the dogs at our Adoption Center, Milo Pt Richmond. BUT, if you can offer a safe and nurturing home to a dog with some behavioral "quirks" please do send an application today. Thank you.

Good with dogs,
Story
Loki is a happy boy, playing with friends, running about, and giving hugs! He does better being outdoors in a fenced space, he likes most dogs after an introduction and chooses his playmates, typically other males it seems (that can be situational.) He and an old male Aussie and a young Great Pyr have a love triangle, wrestling, humping and chasing each other, they are super cute and silly, he has a strong bond to his buddies, both two-legged and four!! Loki takes his time to warm up to some, and is particular about handling and restraint, not taking it well from people he doesn't know. Loki has a healthy sense of adventure and not the best recall though when he has a runabout here at the Milo Sanctuary he comes back before long. A country life is definitely in order for him! He can be affectionate and gives great hugs. Loki has had physical and other forms of trauma in his life, Loki came to us with a badly broken tail/spinal injury, he's healed and happy guy given his own freedom of movement. He deserves a chance. A country home with adults. He is fine being a predominantly outdoor dog with a buddy. He does not like a harness. Come meet him at our sanctuary!

Story
Chief is a smart and independent boy who loves nothing more than exploring the world. He does need time and patience and respect for his personal space in order to warm up to someone, but when he does he's extremely sweet. He can get overexcited to see unfamiliar people/dogs when on leash, but he has made many dog friends and prefers friends who are calmer and don't intrude too much into his space. Notes from a volunteer who took Chief out on a couple of outings. "We have been meaning to take long time Milo resident, Chief, out for awhile now. Chief is a 6 years old, border collie mix dog, who came from the Stanislaus area. Last weekend, we decided to take him and my small pups on a short walk from Milo to the downtown part of Pt Richmond. He did really well walking with us there. He is not a big fan of fast moving bikes headed in his direction though. He is a strong boy so it is important to keep a firm grip on his leash. He is a big fan of treats so that is helpful for training, distraction, etc... We weren't sure how he would do since this was our first time taking him out away from Milo so we kept a brisk pace walking by other people and dogs and gauged his reaction. He was very curious about all the noise and the people in the area. Today, we came back in hopes of taking him to the park for a hike. Unfortunately, it started to sprinkle off and on so we took him to the big Milo park down the street instead. He behaved well and really enjoyed being out at the park. We'll try for the hike the next time we stop by. Once Chief gets to know a person and trusts them, he is an awesome dog to be around. He is also smart and loyal. "
