Story
Meet Ringo! Ringo is a bright, fun-loving 12-week-old Border Collie puppy with a heart full of potential and a whole new world ahead of him! Ringo and his three brothers were surrendered to a shelter simply for being “unwanted,” but thankfully they found their way into foster care where they are getting the love and opportunities they deserve. Ringo is incredibly sweet, intelligent, and eager to please. He’s already making friends everywhere he goes—with people, dogs, cats, kids, and adults alike. He’s a confident little guy who takes new experiences in stride and is always ready for his next adventure. True to his breed, Ringo is an active puppy with a busy brain and lots of enthusiasm for life. ‍ He would thrive in an active home that can keep him mentally and physically engaged through training, hikes, dog sports, adventures, and playtime. He loves running and playing outdoors, has already been introduced to swimming (and is a natural! ), and is currently being fostered with a professional dog trainer who is helping build confidence, social skills, and strong puppy foundations. Ringo is doing wonderfully with crate and potty training and sleeps through the night in his cozy crate. He is up to date on his puppy vaccinations but is not yet neutered due to his age. If you're looking for a loyal, loving companion with brains, sweetness, and a big silly personality, Ringo might just be your perfect match! Story
Meet Gumigoo (Gumi, Gumibear, ) Currently in Buxton, ME Gumigoo — also known as Gumi, Gumibear, or Gumbo — is a handsome young Border Collie with the perfect mix of athletic ability and affection. Border Collie Mix - Weight: 33 lbs- Neutered - 2.5 years old Health: Up to date on vaccinations • Heartworm negative • On monthly prevention Personality: Gumi is a true cuddle dog He loves to snuggle, nap with his people, and will happily sleep on your bed or in your lap if allowed. At the same time, he respects personal space when asked. He gets along very well with his foster’s female Aussie and would likely do well with other dogs after a proper introduction. He has not been tested with cats. He has excellent house manners, is fully house-trained, and is trustworthy in the home. Training & Intelligence: Gumi is very smart and eager to learn He already knows several commands: • Sit • Wait • Leave it • Place (very reliable) • Recall (“come”) is still a work in progress He is highly food-motivated, which makes training productive and fun. Activity & Play: Gumi loves to run, play, and chase toys He enjoys fetch and would likely excel in agility or other dog sports. A large, secure fenced yard is strongly recommended. He has a strong prey drive and is highly alert to movement. He will bark at chickens, bicyclists, delivery trucks, and machinery. Fence-running can occur once he becomes stimulated and can be hard to interrupt. A quiet home on a low-traffic or dead-end road would suit him best. Crate & Travel: Gumi is crate-trained but does not require one at home. He travels best when contained in a covered crate with music playing Because he reacts to outside activity, window coverings or film can help reduce barking triggers. Additional Notes: • Early riser (typically 5:30–6:00 AM) • Generally friendly with people, but not perfect with everyone • Caution recommended with young children • May jump during greetings; consistent cues like “sit” or “place” help • Nervous at the vet and may need sedation or pre-visit anti-anxiety meds Ideal Home: Gumi would thrive with: An active, experienced owner A large fenced yard A quiet environment with minimal outside stimulation Consistent training and structure Adults or families with older children Gumi is an affectionate, intelligent companion who will shine in the right home — one that appreciates both his loving nature and his working-dog instincts. If you think Gumigoo is the a perfect fit for you and your family please submit our adoption application at the link below. https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There are some additional fees: $20 microchip transfer fee to register and transfer him to his new furever family. ##2560186##

Story
06/03/26 11:52Since her last bio was written in January, Jackie was adopted but returned through no fault of her own after experiencing conflict with a resident dog in the home where the other dog did not get along with Jackie. More recently, she entered a foster-to-adopt placement but escaped on her first day before she had an opportunity to settle in. These experiences have reinforced that Jackie is a sensitive dog who can become overwhelmed by sudden changes and unfamiliar environments.Since returning to the shelter, Jackie has shown signs of increasing kennel stress and has become more shut down in the shelter environment. While she is still able to engage with familiar handlers, take treats, respond to cues such as `sit,` and show moments of playfulness in the yard, the kennel environment appears to be taking a toll on her confidence. She can often appear withdrawn, hesitant, and uncomfortable in her kennel despite making progress when given time and space outside of it.Jackie would greatly benefit from a calm rescue, or adoptive home where she can decompress away from the stress of shelter life. With patience, gentle handling, and consistency, she has shown that she is capable of building trust and continuing to gain confidence.01/28/26 12:43Jackie is a 4-year-old spayed female dog who is shy, sweet, and gentle, and is slowly coming out of her shell. Upon arrival, she was stiff and uncomfortable, but she has made progress and now enjoys walks and allows handling. Her favorite activity is calm, sniffy walks, and she becomes excited when coming out of the kennel to get moving.Jackie can be somewhat reserved when she is first approached but warms up after a few minutes and enjoys playgroups with other dogs. Jackie would benefit from a quiet, low-stress environment with patient handling and a committed adopter or rescue who can continue to help build her confidence.

With his gentle nature and eager‑to‑please personality, he’s ready to become a devoted companion to an adopter who appreciates an athletic, intelligent herding dog. Personality Snickers is a soft, affectionate dog who bonds closely with his people. He’s polite, calm, and enjoys being near his human—whether that means joining you for a walk or relaxing at home. Snickers can be a bit wary of children and sudden movements, so he is best suited for a home with adults or older, dog‑savvy teens. Training & Skills Snickers is crate trained, walks nicely on a leash, and loves learning. He’s attentive, responsive, and food‑motivated—an ideal match for someone interested in continuing his training. He already knows: Sit Stay Lie Down He picks up new commands quickly and genuinely wants to do the right thing. Other Animals Snickers does well with: ✔ Cats ✔ Female dogs He is best as an only dog or paired with a calm female, as he can be pushy with male dogs. Energy Level & Ideal Home Snickers greets each day with fresh enthusiasm and looks forward to his daily walks. He will thrive in an active home where he can enjoy regular exercise, enrichment, and engagement. A person or family who enjoys hiking, walking, or outdoor adventures would be an excellent fit.
