Story
Sweet, loyal 10 year old border collie mix in need of a new home. Rocky has lived in Boulder with his people for 10 years, since being adopted as a puppy. Sadly his parents have both gone into care and can no longer look after him. Rocky has up to date vaccinations, loves long walks and swims and is happy in the car. He gets mild separation anxiety and thunderstorm anxiety and sometimes nips ankles due to his herding instinct. He has never bitten. He gets along with neutered adult dogs but should not be loose around puppies or children. He is in need of an experienced dog owner who will help him lose some weight and enjoy his final years. Rocky knows basic commands and walks well on a leash. He’s a very loving, sweet dog who will adore his new owners.

Story
We adopted our sweet boy from a humane shelter and later learned through DNA testing that he is 100% Border Collie. He has typical herding instincts but is on the lower-drive side for the breed. He is smart, eager to please, and loves playing ball, hiking, and training with his person. He knows basic commands including come, sit, and place, and is both house and crate trained. He can be skittish around small children, so we believe he would do best in a home without young kids. We also want to be transparent about his medical needs. He has an extra vertebra that causes some back pain. He is currently in physical therapy and takes medication to manage his discomfort. His ideal adopter will be willing and able to continue this level of care. He is a loving, intelligent dog who would thrive with someone who enjoys staying active, training, and building a strong bond with their dog.

Story
Oscar is an almost 2 year old Border Collie mix. Sadly, Oscar spent the majority of his life in a large shelter. He went in when he was about 10 weeks old and stayed there until he was a year and a half, when we were able to get him out. Since then he's been in a foster home. He was very very nervous when he first came in, and wanted nothing to do with new people. He was very gentle however and would just cower or hide when nervous. Since being in foster, he has come a very long way. He walks very well on leash with his trusted people, and doesn't seem scared of car/traffic noises. He is still very shy of new people, but once warmed up he's very sweet and offers tail wags, and likes to be pet. He is kennel trained and likes to go into his kennel as a safe space, and is very food motivated. He is potty trained and will potty on leash. Oscar will need. very patient and quiet home, with the understanding that he will take time to warm up but then will be a very sweet guy. We also recommend he go to a home with other dogs, since he absolutely loves all other dogs and will need a confident dog to show him that things are ok!Oscar is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines.

Meet Lacey Lou! This beautiful 4-year-old Border Collie/German Shepherd mix is a total sweetheart who just wants to be loved. Sit down and she’ll happily rest her head in your lap—her favorite place is right next to her person. Lacey is crate trained, house trained, walks nicely on leash, rides well in the car, and is great with other dogs. She was raised with children and does wonderfully with them. She’s very interested in cats, but she’s learning that the resident feline is, in fact, a permanent member of the household. Lacey Lou was adopted from MHCR as a puppy, but after her family split up, she was given away and eventually ended up in a local Colorado shelter. We’re so happy to have found her again and are determined to help her find the peaceful, loving, forever home she deserves. Hi, I'm Artturi! I am a friendly pup with so much love to give! I love to play around with both doggy friends and humans alike! I am a little shy when meeting new folks, so I might take a little bit of time to warm up, but I warm up very fast with some love and patience. The shelter staff tell me I am a "timid guy" who walks well on leash and they tell me what a good boy I am, and I believe it! I'm crate trained, working on perfecting housetraining, and have already aced a beginner obedience class! I love going for car rides, going on runs (I can go for miles!), and playing fetch! Given my age and breed, exercise is definitely the key to unlocking my chill side. I'm a smart boy and I'm eager to learn, making training easy breezy! I can't wait to meet you and see if we might be a great match!

I adopted Maisie from the Boulder Humane Society in November, 2021. She was 3-4 months old and had been picked up in New Mexico. She was on medication for anxiety and I was told she should be homed with another older dog and kept away from children. I live in a condo with a small deck area and I am very active outdoors. We walk 3 times a day, hike, ski, etc. She is a good dog if you are active outdoors or have a yard. She loves being outside. She went through training with the High Drive Dog school and did very well and she is good on a leash. She is off leash often and is good with other dogs unless they are aggressive towards her. I have trained her to avoid those dogs. She is very smart and learns quickly. She has good recall when I call her. She has some anxiety during thunderstorms, fireworks and the Vet. I am moving to be near my grandkids and she is not good around children. I use the muzzle but quick, unpredictable moves are an issue for her so I am looking to re-home her.
