Story
Chubby is the happiest boy on the block! This 2 year old, 60 lbs, fluff ball is a friend to all and a foe to none. He joined MHCR from a very small, underfunded shelter facing some tough decisions due to lack of space. Chubby hasn’t looked back since joining his foster home. He enjoys the soft beds, learned the doggie door, and has even acclimated quite well to his crate. Chubby is well-mannered in a home and walks well on a leash. Don’t miss this sweet pup! He is presently being treated for some skin irritation/allergies we suspect are from his time in the clink. Chubby is in foster in Mead, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/chubby You can apply for our wonderful dogs at https://www.milehighcanine.org/adopt/adoption-application/.

Story
My name is Dusk! Both my brother and sister were adopted before me, so I've been waiting patiently for my turn. I am very smart and a good listener; I know how to sit and shake. I am extremely friendly with other dogs and would love to have another pup to run around with. I have energy for days and would like a large fenced in yard and a family willing to go on walks with me and keep me occupied. I am very handsome and quite the charmer. Come meet me!

Story
Pepper was rescued from a high volume shelter in New Mexico. She was originally living in a hoarding situation. She’s about 1 year old, spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. She walks well on leash and is potty trained and kennel trained. She coexists well with cats, and can be selective with other dogs. So far she seems to do best with male dogs her size or smaller. She is fairly laid back, and enjoys hikes and walks and cuddling in bed. She tends to be nervous at first, and would not be a good fit with young children. Her ideal home would be as an only dog or with a medium size male dog, in a quiet home with a female owner or couple.

Story
Holly is exactly what you expect a border collie to be: sensitive, velcroed to you, super smart, energetic, and wanting to work. She was found in Oklahoma in a yard abandoned with her brothers. She spent a couple of months shutting down in the shelter before Big Bones stepped in and rescued her before it was too late. We are not sure she’s ever known what it’s like to be inside of a home until now, but boy is she quickly learning how awesome it is. This 1 year old healthy girl just wants to curl up next to you at all times. She absolutely loves walks and is so good on a leash. She walks in a heel position the entire time. She doesn’t like to potty on walks though- it’s almost like she thinks she’s on duty. We are working on house training, but she’s picking it up quickly. She would benefit most from an active adopter or an adopter with a yard that will play with her and get that border collie working energy out. She is super curious and really eager to learn, so a savvy border collie or herding dog adopter would be best. We are working on getting her crate trained, but she is showing some separation anxiety (rightfully so, as she was abandoned and stuck in a shelter for a while), but is getting better as she learns to trust that you’ll come back. We believe she will settle in but may be best served with an adopter that has another dog or that’s home more often than not or can take her with to work and trips. She’s petite at about 40 lb and has the most beautiful coat. But again, if you know the breed, they shed and you will be blessed with both black and white hair on your clothes :). A small toll for the return of love and loyalty this little girl will give you.
