Story
Meet Lacey Lou! This beautiful 4-year-old Border Collie/German Shepherd mix is a total sweetheart who just wants to be loved. Sit down and she’ll happily rest her head in your lap—her favorite place is right next to her person. Lacey is crate trained, house trained, walks nicely on leash, rides well in the car, and is great with other dogs. She was raised with children and does wonderfully with them. She’s very interested in cats, but she’s learning that the resident feline is, in fact, a permanent member of the household. Lacey Lou was adopted from MHCR as a puppy, but after her family split up, she was given away and eventually ended up in a local Colorado shelter. We’re so happy to have found her again and are determined to help her find the peaceful, loving, forever home she deserves. If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate, loyal girl who wants nothing more than to be your best friend, Lacey Lou might be your girl. Lacey Lou is being fostered in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs.* You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/lacey-lou/. Story
Jazzy is the kind of dog who brings energy and happiness into your life—without overwhelming it. She’s playful, friendly, and fun, but also has an independent side that makes her easy to live with. Her past isn’t pretty—but you’d never know it. Jazzy is social and confident, great with dogs of all sizes and cats, and naturally fits into whatever environment she’s in. She’ll happily join in on playtime, go on walks, or even randomly take a dip in the pond—then settle down like it’s no big deal. She’s affectionate without being clingy and has that ideal balance people are always looking for but rarely find. Good fit: someone who wants a fun, social dog that adds energy and joy to daily life without being overwhelming or demanding. Adoption process: All adoptions are completed prior to transport. Dogs are picked up at designated transport locations. If an adoption doesn’t work out (rare, but life happens), we always take our dogs back. Location: Oklahoma (available to approved out-of-state adopters via transport) Health: Fully vetted (spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested) Adoption fee: $500 (includes transport + vetting) Bonus: Each adoption includes a 30-minute phone consultation with a professional trainer Transport routes: WA, OR, ID, MT, UT, WY, CO, MN, WI, IA, IL, IN, OH, PA, MD, NY, NJ, VT Think you might be a good fit? Story
Alder is basically the dog version of an introvert. Quiet, gentle, low-key, and completely content doing his own thing, Alder is one of the easiest and lowest-maintenance dogs I have ever had in the rescue out of hundreds of dogs. He is around a year old and was originally labeled as a pit bull mix at the shelter when he was younger and still looked like a generic puppy. But now that he is older, it is very obvious that he is not a pittie and instead looks much more like a Border Collie mix. Alder is wonderful with other dogs of all sizes and also great with cats. He peacefully coexists with everyone but honestly doesn’t care much about joining the chaos or playing constantly. He prefers to quietly exist nearby and observe the world at his own pace. He is shy and hesitant with new people at first, but there is not an ounce of aggression in him. He is simply a soft, sensitive dog who takes a little time to feel comfortable. Once he settles in, Alder is incredibly easy to live with. He is not demanding, not hyper, not loud, and not needy. He is the type of dog who quietly becomes part of your daily life without bringing chaos into it. Good fit: someone looking for a calm, quiet, low-maintenance companion who does not need constant stimulation or activity to be happy. Adoption process: All adoptions are completed prior to transport. Dogs are picked up at designated transport locations. If an adoption doesn’t work out (rare, but life happens), we always take our dogs back. Story
Desh is such a lovable guy! Smart, human-focused companion who offers the perfect balance of brain and heart. He is a medium-energy dog who is always perfectly in tune with his person—playful and alert when it’s time for an outdoor stroll, but instantly relaxed and ready to settle the second you sit down.Because of his compact, smaller size and loyal herding-breed intelligence, Desh makes an incredible partner for both daily adventures and quiet downtime. He is highly attentive, eager to please, and entirely devoted to his humans. Very sweet with people and good with kids, Desh is a social boy whose tail never stops wagging. He is ready to be your right-hand guy and will make a fantastic hiking and running buddy. He already walks great on a leash—he can pull just a little bit when he gets excited, but using the right harness will easily help keep him on track. If you are looking for a clever, adaptable, active, and deeply loyal companion to share your life with, Desh is the total package!
