Story
Injured, Afraid, and Still Wagging His Tail Bear is one of our most recent rescues, and when we picked him up, he was badly injured. He’s still not putting any weight on his right hind leg and is very fearful and not very handleable yet. His injuries were caused by other dogs before he came to us — not the dogs he is with now. He was kept separately when we rescued him. When Bear first arrived, he was terrified. He truly believed that everything around him was going to hurt him. And yet… every single day when I go in to care for him, he wags his tail and tries to come greet me. This boy has the kindest face. You can see it in his eyes — an incredible soul who wants nothing more than to be loved. Despite the pain, despite the fear, Bear is still hoping. Bear has been seen by our veterinarian, and thankfully his leg is not broken. He is currently on antibiotics and pain medication, and we are giving his body time to heal. We are still very concerned and will be reassessing him again this weekend. Bear urgently needs a foster home.He needs a quiet, patient place where he can rest, feel safe, and learn that he will never be hurt again. If you can help this sweet boy — by fostering or by making a donation toward his care — please fill out an application or donate through Denkai Animal Sanctuary. www.denkaisanctuary.org Bear has been through so much… and yet he still wags his tail.Let’s make sure the rest of his story is filled with love. ##2612046##

Story
Meet Ghost About one year old and one of our newest rescues.   Huge thanks to Miranda Lambert's MuttNation for helping fund Ghost’s rescue and care — this boy’s second chance is possible because of support like yours.   Ghost is still a little unsure of the world, but his intelligence absolutely stops us in our tracks. We believe he’s an Australian Shepherd / Border Collie mix, and it shows — he’s thoughtful, observant, and processes everything carefully.   He’s the kind of dog you don’t rush. You just sit quietly beside him… and let him think.   Today’s socialization lesson included hot dogs and peanut butter — and watching him discover those flavors while peacefully sitting together was pure magic. Small moments. Big trust.   Ghost is gorgeous inside and out. He’s kind, gentle, and we’re already seeing the beginning of something really special as he starts to blossom.   Foster needed If you’re an experienced foster who understands shy, intelligent dogs and wants to help Ghost continue building confidence, please reach out.   Message us here on Facebook Or text 970-217-1457 Foster or adopt: www.denkaisanctuary.org/adopt ##2612044##

Story
We call him “The Regulator” for a reason Please meet Burglar, and help us share this special boy in hopes of finding him the right home. Burglar is the self-appointed protector of his buddies. He thinks he’s tough and intimidating—but don’t be fooled. Underneath that brave exterior is a sappy, soft-hearted goof who absolutely cracks us up. He has allowed handling and being carried, and while he isn’t leash-trained yet, we believe starting him with a harness will be the best way to build confidence and trust as he continues to learn. Once he feels safe, this boy is incredibly smart and eager. Burglar is part of a group of dogs who were surrendered to Denkai after their owner could no longer care for them. He is approximately one year old and a Border Collie / Australian Shepherd mix—so brains and energy come standard. What Burglar needs: • A securely fenced yard or a home with large acreage • An experienced, patient adopter willing to continue his socialization with new people • No children at this time • Likely dog-friendly, with proper introductions Burglar has so much potential and will thrive with someone who understands working breeds and is willing to invest time, structure, and love. If you think you might be the right match for this “Regulator,” please fill out an adoption application at: www.denkaisanctuary.org/adopt Let’s help this tough-guy-softie find his person ##2612043##
