Story
Be the one who loves MISS SKY forever! This sweet girl is anticipated to be 4 years old on October 4th and weighs approximately 17 pounds as of September 21, 2025. MISS SKY is a good girl and here is what her rescuer writes: "- Sky is shy and calm, with an independent side but also a “velcro” dog who loves to be near her humans. - She will be timid at first and may need some time to adjust to new environments. - She enjoys walks on a leash and bonding with her family. - She enjoys calm affection and gentle interactions and thrives on human company. - She is an easygoing dog, perfect for a relaxed household. - Gets along well with other dogs of different sizes, though she mostly follows them rather than interacting. - Not tested with cats, but likely won’t have issues. - Has lived with a 12-year-old child; not tested with toddlers. - Would do best in a house with a yard, as she can be a little nervous about going outside for potty, although she loves walks on a leash. - She’d do better in a quiet home, away from the city. - Can be an only dog as long as she has company most of the day. - May take a little time to adjust to new people or visitors, but warms up quickly once she feels safe. - Can stay alone for short periods, but prefers company most of the time. - House-trained and crate-trained. - Knows basic leash manners, but not commands. - Barking level: very low; she hardly ever barks. - Not very food-motivated with treats, so may require patience and praise for training. - Does not have food guarding behavior. - Does not feel comfortable being picked up, but enjoys being close to you. - Not a very good traveler for long distances, as she may throw up, but comfortable in the kennel for shorter trips without showing anxiety. She will leave the kennel or car if shown her leash; otherwise, she will stay where she is. - Behaves nicely at the vet and allows staff to handle her without issues. - Stays calm during thunderstorms, though she can be a little alert when she hears sudden noises. - One thing is certain - she will be a devoted companion who follows you everywhere around the house." We think MISS SKY is a beautiful mixed breed Border Collie. *We have more photos and videos to share. Story
This is BEN! This 23 pounds and ~5 months old as of October. We think he’s a “Borador” (Lab/Border Collie mix). Ben is a typical happy puppy who loves to play, and gets along great with all dogs! We really have nothing more to say about him because he’s such a sweetie. Ben and some other puppies were found under a bridge with their mama (or another adult female dog, we don’t actually know if it was their mom) who were all dumped there. Our founder feeds a dog who lives under the bridge every day and someone must have known this and left these dogs for us to rescue. If you are interested in this great puppy, please complete an application from our site: https://www.miraclesforsatosrescue.org/adoption-foster-application Applications must be complete to be considered. Your application will not get lost ! We are a small but efficient rescue ! ____________________________________________ PLEASE NOTE: This dog is currently in Puerto Rico. Once an adopter is fully approved, transport will be arranged to New York. In addition, if you are applying for this dog or any of our pups, you must be open to dog psychology/behavior (Cesar Millan) and fulfilling the needs of the dog. We strive for our dogs to be adopted into the right home. The best fit for the dog is our priority. We ask that you please make sure if interested in a puppy or high energy breed that you are ready for this time consuming/daily endeavor and have patience as this is a long term commitment (could be 15+ years). Please consider your future lifestyle after COVID. Please make sure you are ready to properly exercise and give a dog all it needs for fulfillment. Your ongoing time and day-to-day commitment is the most important thing in caring for a dog. In addition we cannot guarantee breed of any dog or expected adult size of a puppy. Thank you for understanding.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Betsy (TX) is a female border collie mix rescued in Texas.  Our veterinary partner estimates that she is 1.5  yrs old at the time of intake in June 2025.  This poor girl was found on the streets, nearly dead, annorexic, tied to a pole. Her mate was left for dead, but she hung on.  Luckily RDR got to her and she is healing up wonderfully. She is eating and gaining her strength back. She is getting ready to head to the Northeast where her forver family can show her she is truly loved! Please apply online to adopt Betsy (TX) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org. RDR's adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter/microchip at an RDR-approved facility, whether completed before adoption or if deferred because the pet is too young or has a medical issue.  All pets are also current on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. We can, however, provide transport support for pets in foster at a considerable distance from the adopter.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 24, 2025, 2:36 am

Story
Say Hello to Julian! (Born 8/30/2024) he is 34 pounds of sweetness! We guess he might be a Smooth Coated Border Collie mix. Julian came to us from a situation where nervous energy surrounded him, and like the sensitive guy he is, he absorbed some of that. But good news! With patience, consistency, and plenty of encouragement (especially when treats are involved), he’s been making wonderful progress since arriving here. Understandably, city sounds and the hustle bustle are overwhelming to Julian, so we are looking for a home in a quieter area. Julian really enjoys treats, one on one time, playing with other dogs and we are seeking a home for him with a yard where he can stretch his long legs and enjoy the fresh air. We really appreciate that you want to give a shelter animal a home. The Humane Society of New York was founded in 1904. The Vladimir Horowitz/Wanda Toscanini Horowitz Adoption Center is a no-kill shelter. Our on-site clinic and staff of skilled Veterinarians looks after the health and well-being of every animal here. We also have a great adoption matchmaking team who will gladly take your profile and match you or your pet with just the right cat or dog companion. We start the process once you have submitted an application to us. FOR AN APPLICATION, please visit http://humanesocietyny.org/adoptions/ and download then email your application to hsny.adopt@gmail.com. Our one and only location is: 306 East 59th Street (between 1st & 2nd Avenue) in Manhattan. If you'd like to sponsor Julian, please email amk.hsny@verizon.net. You can give as much or as little as you like. Your donation is tax deductible. Thank you! For additional information on the Humane Society of New York, please visit: humanesocietyny.org. Thank you!
