“A dog has the soul of a philosopher.” A quote from Plato, the Greek Philosopher, and the namesake of our newest Buddy. Twelve-years-old and 20 lbs. Plato was relinquished to us by the only family he had ever known. Same old story we frequently hear in rescue. They are expecting a baby and were concerned that Plato wouldn’t handle the new addition well. We are here to tell you that Plato is more resilient than they gave him credit for. Plato transitioned seamlessly into the routine of his foster home. What makes this even more amazing is that Plato is visually impaired due to cataracts! Now don’t let that scare you away, he is able to see a little and gets around just fine. He does not require any eye drops. This active guy will go upstairs to check on his foster Mom and get a belly rub and then trot back downstairs to make sure he doesn’t miss anything that his foster Dad is doing and hopefully get a booty scratch or two. Plato is very independent and so easy to care for. Plato is so smart, he figured out the doggie door on the first day in his foster home and has never had a potty accident. He is so polite; he never barks and spends most of his day napping. He enjoys walks around the neighborhood and is great in the car. All of his vetting is up to date. The doctor said for a dog his age, his bloodwork looks great!! Plato was heartworm and fecal tested, both negative. Neutered and Microchipped and ready to start over!
